Root [ROM] CM7 with GB kernel by RevNumbers

i guess some people dont help, i dunno, i never asked framework for help, just questions about miui and that was about it, and i hit him up on twitter occasionally he usually responds so, i dunno lol

Ok, I have a strange issue. At first I thought it was SSX, but apparently it is all CM7 based ROMs. I can't download a lot of apps from the market. It keeps saying my device is incompatible. Can't get things like xScope, livingsocial, but more importantly, I can't download Google Maps, which also means I can't get Navigation. Anybody have a clue on where to start with this?

Were you ever able to find a solution to this? This was one of the reasons I abandoned CM7. Really liked it a lot otherwise.

Yeah sorry I didn't follow up. To be honest, I can't say for 100% sure. I was told adjusting my LCD density affected it. I just decided to shotgun it and SBF my phone again. After freshly installing CM7 the apps worked fine, no problem.

Anyone having issues with the SD card suddenly becoming unavailable? I went from the normal CM7 nightlies to the Revnumbers 11/18 nightly release. It's been nice other than the charge light and this annoying SDcard problem.

If I take a photo it seems to save fine, then I go to the gallery and it takes forever for it to load, then the thumbnail preview starts "twitching" for the lack of a better term. If I quit out and try to come in I get the error "SD Card is unavailable or not mounted" and if I go in to take a photo I get an error saying the SD card is unavailable.

If I go in to settings > storage and unmount and remount the card it works for one photo then the whole pain in the rear cycle starts all over again! I tried backing up to the 11/11 release but same issue there too.

Sounds like your SD card is dead. I had the same issue, happened to me when I installed SSX2.1 a while back. Just out of nowhere, couldn't play music, no photos, nothing. If I reformatted it, it would work for only one file.

Thankfully they aren't too expensive over Amazon. You can grab another 16GB for like 11 bucks. Sucks, but it looks like that's what it comes down to for you.

I hope not, this card is like 6 weeks old... I guess I'll have to swap in a different one and see what happens. This one is a class 10 card though, all my other ones are like class 6 sadly.

I'm running CM 7.0.1 on GB 650.

Today when my wife called I had the AC charge cable plugged in. She said the call volume was muffled compared to most calls, so I unplugged the cable, and she then said it sounded much better. You guys ever seen this before?

Might be your problem right there. When I used a class 10, I had nothing but problems. My understanding since then is that anything over 4, really, is too much for the X to deal with. I went down to a 4 and I've had smooth sailing since.

Droid X
605 rooted
2.3.3

CWM, bootstrap, latest CM7 zip on my SD card.

Boot into recovery, and load the zip.

Anything else I should know about or do?

This was the first I have ever read about a Class 10 SD being unsuitable for use in a device. Have you seen this happen, Saint?

yea that inst right lol, even is the DX couldnt use all the speed from a class 10, a class 10 wouldnt affect slower speeds lol.

I used a 16GB Class 10 card in my LG Ally for quite some time after it was rooted and ROMed and never saw any problems from the card. It did seem to help the Ally's performance some to have the faster memory in that card. This DX I'm using now was my son's and I presume the card in it is OEM, so I don't know its class. But if it ever fails, I would hope to use the card from my retired Ally in its place.

Yeah I put a class 4 card in and it works, but the class 10 one now has a weird issue with 1gb being unusuable, it's just blocked off even when mounted on a PC when partitioning it. Piece of crap.

Class 4 kinda sucks, it slowed down my camera a lot.

You can try, from your PC, running CHKDSK with the /F (fix errors) parameter on the SD card and then freshly formatting it FAT32. That might fix the problems. I've had similar issues with cards "suddenly becoming unusable", until I finally tracked it down to my having not known the USB/SD card adapter I was using when I accessed the card on the PC was defective. I got a new adapter, and have had zero issues with any SD card since.

Also, if your USB jack in the phone is loose, it can create an intermittent connection, and hose the SD card's data during USB cable access from a PC. The LG Ally I have is notorious for having a loose jack. There is even a video online showing a guy pulling his Ally apart and gently crimping the jack housing to fix it.

I wish all the jacks on these phones and tablets would come with dust covers. I found an online vendor in Hong Kong that sells little rubber plugs for all sorts of jacks. Their company name is ModDIY. I ordered 6 plugs from them for the Micro USB, HDMI, and headphone jacks on my DX (which cost only pennies each) and the air mail to the US was about $8 shipping for the envelope. They came in about a week. The plugs work very well to keep the ports clean.

Any suggestions for switching to Revnumbers CM7 from LiquidSmooth on my DX? I have Liquid 3.2 now and after about the third day, my wifi quit working, which seems to be a common issue that is unresolved on Liquid. My son's Captivate has the official CM7 and his works like a charm.

I run CM7 on GB.650 and have no problems on my Droid X. Everything works just fine. But I don't get into the nightly updates. I flashed 7.1.0-DROIDX-KANG (as per About Phone) and stuck with that. It actually fixed the problem Motorola created with alarms not sounding when they released Gingerbread. :-)

Still running CM7 as mentioned above (while the clock ticks down on my Verizon Galaxy S3 pre-order).

Just wondering if anyone has any information on possible wifi issues with this ROM? Lately my DX wifi and signal strength icons "grey out" and I have to reboot to get the gps or internet to start responding. After a reboot it might work for hours or even days, and then require another reboot.

Maybe try CM9 to get a feel for ICS before making the jump to the S3... ;)

I don't have a good solution to your issue. To me it seems that this is either an Android thing or a DX thing. Runs great after a fresh install then at some point things start to go downhill.

CM9 has been very stable for me since loading it in early May. It made my DX a new phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried the CM9 beta for the DX, but I do run the Tegraowners ICS ROM on my tablet. It seems to be a bit zippier than Honeycomb. The tablet is pretty stable either way, so I can't really comment in that regard.
