I can't say for sure, but my Marquee with CT3.68 and MBv2 seems to be overshooting it's cpu settings too. Even setting the max at 900Mhz, it got really uncomfortably hot.

Now with ZV4 and stock 1Ghz, the temps never gets even close to what it felt like before at 900Mhz.

with Hyper 2.0 the CPU will not go above what its set to. install CPU Spy if you want to see what frequencies are being used and for how long.

and thats the battery heat you feel, that happens with use, even on stock. my old prevail which the max freq was 800 would get hot as shit too.

Well it has been all day now with no force closes or freezing up when using apps that req. Su access. Not a single hiccup all day. Setcpu time in state looks better too. My battery might have been ruined last night its charge isnt lasting very well today. Be careful with the latest superuser update, it could mean the end of your device.

SU update didn't affect me 1 bit.

Matter of fact, I dialed my phone back to 1000 after talking with Monster last night and I can see a HUGE jump in battery life with hardly no noticeable change in performance.

I'm running CTMod 3.6.8 with the IceMod theme and my phone runs perfect!
I'm using Voltage Control extreme with Min-220, Max 1000, I/O-deadline, and Gov.-lagfree. My phone honestly runs perfect. It's kinda weird not having something to complain about anymore. lmao:ridinghorse:

Going to try these settings.... hey wetbiker, what would cause games to lag on this phone? in the past i ran games like mass effect, deadspace, etc with no problems. tried to run guns n glory and metal slug 3. guns never loaded, stayed on intro screen and metal slug slowed down about 10 minutes in. any suggestions on how to get games to work better? thanks for any input you can give.

The only game that I play that really needs the cpu to be turned up is Mass Effect. I run it at 1360 and don't have any problems. I also set the Gov to performance. Hope this helps ya.

Oh, I also quick running a bunch of apps that run in the background all the time too. Don't know if that makes a difference with the game but it helps out the battery life.

And then somebody suggested a custom ROM and I wound up here.

My little Marquee is way faster than it ever was and is rid of all of the bloatware that was installed on it to begin with. But I still cannot get the wi-fi hotspot part to work.

I am very new to modding androids but I am enjoying it. And I do really appreciate all of the hard work that goes into building these custom ROM's and such too.

But I am getting frustrated by not being able to figure out why I cannot make this one feature work.

Not sure if this has been brought up and I missed it sorry if it has. But on CT mod 3.68 and HK 2 when I add, remove, or update contacts I get a FC. I also get alot of freezes that I have to do a battery pull for. Mostly when using your or opera browsers. I have done 3 clean installs the last I didn't us TiBu to restore apps and data I just used Google play to dl my apps and still have the same issues

I'll wager it's your theme. Try reflashing CT with no theme and going back through all those things again. The GreenMod did the exact same things to me, took it off and no issues at all..

If you are running CTMod 3.68 just browse the posts and you will find Themes that are compatible with 3.68. They will typically have what version of the rom they are compatible with. This is an example:

Most of the devs have instructions on how to install there themes on your phone.

Thanks for the input jay! Ill try that in the next day or so. Using ice mod and go launcher and some of there other things atm keep going between this and launcher pro. Not a huge fan of the go lineup but I like ics lock screen.

Did you try superuser update fixer in market? It solved some problem for me.

If your having problems you should try switching to supersu.

Ive been having a ton of force closes I mean TONS. I updated to 3.68 and updated superuser latest failure at the same time, so i wasnt sure what was the problem. Tried all the usual cache wipes several times.

I charge my phone at night. This morning I woke up to a phone that was about 140* when i turned the screen on a popup box said WARNING battery overheated disconnect power supply. cleared that and got the failsafe shutdown popup. pretty pissed. cpu skipped my max clock speed and stuck on 1400 all night. All my setcpu temperature and screen off profiles were ignored.

First thing I did was battery pull cuz it went totally unresponsive. then It got some freezer time to cool things down. Installed superSU right away and havnt had a single force close since. So Im pretty sure that somehow this was superusers doing. I dont trust it one bit any more.

I don't really know what I am doing. But in the spirit of adventure I was playing around and figured I would change a few settings.

I went into the voltage control part of my phone and changed it to a minimum of 400mhz and a maximum of 1200 and then I went up to the top and changed some other setting to Lionheart,

This thing is very fast now but how much more do you think I can squeeze out of her

Nope. I didnt have any problems updating, even the binary updated fine for me. It was the update itself that caused all my problems.

But as another status update.... its been smooth sailing since I ditched superuser for supersu. Not one single problem.

Ive been in the custom rom/ modding scene since way back in the old PPC 6700 days LOL. Ive got to say these androids are pure heaven compared to those dinosaurs!

You could always go with ADW. I use ADW EX and love it.

I've been using ADW EX for quite a while now and love it. It's one of the fastest launchers out there. You can customize the heck out of it too.

I've been using Opera Mobile w/extension support and it works great, especially for dl'ing. No freezing and I'm running themes.

I'm actually surprised people still use Opera as their browser. Especially on this phone. There's actually much cleaner, faster, more customizable browsers that also have a much better UI than Opera. Boat Browser is probably the best of a small handful. I deleted the Maxathon browser on CT and made Boat a System App. So much nicer and faster
