Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Alright, I'm trying to figure out what combination of scheduler and governor is going to give me the best combination of performance and battery economy.

I've read over descriptions of everything available and I still have no idea what to go with?

What are you guys using and why?

I use smartassv2 with ondemand with zram enabled per the instructions listed above. For me, it offers the best balance of performance and battery usage. I am sure others will chime in with their preference. I am curious too about what others are using as well.

How do I enable zram?

Sent from my LG-LG855 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

Directions are in "system/etc/init.d/S07HYPER"

To see if it is working use a terminal editor and type "su" and then "free" both without quotes.

you should have a readout of available swap.

hope this helps...

I'm having trouble with my SD card. It unmounted when I rebooted into cwm . The first problem was SD card couldn't be read. The notification said no SD card please insert a new card. Nothing would happen when I removed and replaced. Finally got it to mount normal on start up but not in cwm

its a problem with the sdcard itself, not the rom/cwm.

back it up to your comp and then format it. that should fix it.

Hey Bloodawn, I'm trying to get CTMod running on the AS855. This ROM runs and looks great! Only issues I'm running into so far are 1X data only and of course the flipped home/settings buttons.

In regards to the 1X / No 3g issue, I see 3G for a few seconds and then it changes to 1X. When trying to change the preferred network it won't change to anything else, hybrid should be the right one looks like. Any ideas what could be changing this?

As for the flipped buttons I believe you said to look in "drivers/input/touchscreen/hub_synaptics_ts.c" to change that. I've found this but I don't have your latest v3 source to build. Tried making a keylayout file to fix but no luck. Any chance you could do a build with these flipped for me or possibly post source and I could build it?

Of course MMS doesn't work out of the box but I should be able to get that going. Thanks for any help you may have.

so the settings show it stuck on 1X Only? is the other settings grayed out?

the apn is built into Mms.apk. to fix it decompile the Mms.apk from both the sprint and boost CTMods and compare the 2 apk's, you should be able to see what you need to edit since everything else is the same between them except the apn shit.

I'll upload my kernel source sometime tonight.

The other settings are not greyed out, I can select a different one but it instantly changes right back. I forgot to mention that I have to restore my stock rom and go into a hidden menu and change it back to hybrid to get 3G working again. I ran into this same thing back when Monster first released his Markybeats rom. Something with the Marquee stock-based roms changes this. Funny thing is flashing and Ignite stock-based rom back on doesn't fix it, need to go into hidden menu and change back.

When decompiling SprintHiddenMenu.apk and my USCHiddenMenu.apk they are similiar but quite different. In the values.xml from SprintHiddenMenu.apk I can see the preferred network options but I can't seem to fine the hiddenmenu that has these options listed.

Don't waste to much time on this, was just wondering if you might have any idea off the top of head where to look.

Thanks again.

I'll look at it a little tomorrow.

the GB source is updated btw.

Here is a link to the test kernel. As for which one is more stable, I think that depends on your phone. There's only one way to find out and that's to try them both. This is the newest. You'll have to read back a ways to find the other one. If you would have read back 1 page, you would have found this one. :p

If I read it correctly, I think DM14207" Super kernel 3.0 kernel works on most roms. Works great for me!

What is the final verdict on 3.75? I read about some lockup issues and bluetooth issues. Will there a be a newer version that addresses these or 3.75 truly is the final version?

What is zram and should I be using it?

I know there are instructions here as to how to enable it, so should you guys say I'd benefit form it, I'll follow them.

What are the benefits? Is there a noticeable increase in performance or something like that?

Hey I just got my very first smartphone that LG Marquee referb(was a Boost phone but they put tape over the Boost name on phone and phone is now full of Sprint bloatware) from Ting (Sprint virtual mobile provider) today and I want to install Sprint 3.75 CTMOD. A forum on Ting posted a link to this forum with the same phone and said to use the Sprint 3.75 CTMOD. But Sirandroid post #1113 basically said it was not working right at all :( Any ideas on my options to my weird problem? thanks.....

I'm using 3.68 on the said ting LG Marquee and it works fine. I had problems at some point with the PRL but it seems to be stable now. Not sure what that was about, maybe the phone tried to auto update the PRL and that failed because the cell signal at home is terrible. CTMod is much better than the stock ROM, no bloat and the battery seems to last longer (I'd still recommend an extended battery for this phone if you don't mind the added weight and size).

I have not tried 3.75 yet as I'm waiting to see whether the reported kernel lockup and bluetooth pairing issues can be fixed.

There's a post in the ting forums on how to fix the MMS problem - I don't care for native sms/mms so I left mine alone, didn't modify it. The gist of it:

https://help.ting.com/entries/21385067-mms-and-custom-roming-the-lg-optimus-s

Go into your phone's dialer and type: ##data#
Or: ##3282#
Afterwards, you'll be taken to a special screen. Scroll down to the icon labeled, "MMSC."
Click on "MMSC" and a dialog box will pop up and say "View" and "Edit."
Click on "Edit."
Then, you'll be prompted for some special number to enter in order to proceed. This number is called your MSL number. You'll need to call Ting and give them your phone number and ask them for what your MSL number is. Afterwards, come back and repeat these steps up to this point.
After entering your MSL number, you'll be allowed to modify the URL used for picture messaging. Delete the URL (which is most likely called):
http://mms.sprintpcs.com
And, enter the new URL that is associated with Ting:
http://mms.plspictures.com
After entering that URL, you are finished. You can now return to the home screen.
Again I have not tried it myself, just cross-posting for the benefit of others.

You can get the MSL number by using aLogcat, no need to call Ting/Sprint:

I believe there was a fix fire the Bluetooth issue. Replace the settings.apk from 3.75 with the settings from 3.6.8

I'm also interested in the status of the kernel lockup problem after 40 hours. My phone on 3.68 has been up for over 200 hrs now and no lockups. I'd like to make sure 3.75 is stable before I redo my entire setup.
