Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Anyone noticed the new rom (CTMod3.80) shows little bit less speed in wifi than previous version (CTmod 3.75)? I used speedtest android app. Everything else is superb.

I actually lost all WiFi. It was working for a while -- but now its gone. In watching the progress: it sees the network; authenticates with the network; but cannot obtain an IP Address. I have my router set to distribute a static IP for all devices in my house -- so unless that is causing a problem, its not router issue.

Anyone having a similar issue?

I had an issue once, but not with this rom. Check your router settings. You might want to delete the table for the phone and redo it once it finds it.

unplug the router/modem for 60 secs then plug them back in.

I believe the tun.ko comes out when you compile the kernel its some setting in the config. I have no clue how to go about it, let along having a linux box.

How to compile tun.ko For Android (Commtiva Z71) | OSTalks
here are some of the steps(see link above for the rest) if someone would like to give it a try...........

4. Edit .config so as TUN module will be included into the kernel:
CONFIG_TUN=m
5. Run uname to get running kernel version of your phone:
uname -a
Linux localhost 2.6.32.9 #7 PREEMPT Tue Jan 4 16:51:45 CST 2011 arv61 GNU/Linux
6. If there was some extra characters in your kernel version, like 2.6.32.9-063c4d24, you

Thanks guys. Tried those suggestions. Also tried using advanced settings in WiFi and imposing a static ip matching a new table in the router. No go.

Sh*T.

If you are using DHCP on all devices make sure that the range setup in the router is large enough and there are no duplicate IP's being issued. If you have any MAC filtering enabled try disabling it. This last suggestion may seem strange but change the security key.

you can't rename it. why do you want to? I thought you deleted ia.

I did delete it but for some reason it is still anchored to the MiHome launcher dock (at bottom of home screen), and I am unable to trash it. ("Unable to remove system application.") I did manage to remap the button to launch Boat Browser, but it's still labeled "lightning".

The app is still in /system/app if you still have a icon.

Thanks for the ideas. DHCP has large range -- no duplicates. No MAC filtering. Tried to change security key. Nothing. I'm using Tomato and tried to access my guest network -- same problem.

Unless you good folks have any other ideas, I'm going to try a reinstall of the ROM.

See for yourself.

By the way, love the fact that I can even take these screenshots! (Though kind of annoying that these forums make me resize them by a tiny % before uploading....)

I am curious about what version of Tomato you are using? Is it a mainstream one like Toastman, Shibby, or Victek? I am also running TomatoUSB Shibby's MOD so you might make sure that you are not using the Afterburner feature or Interference Mitigation I know those can sometimes cause problems from experience. If you use Bluetooth alot you can Set Bluetooth Coexsistance to Enable. Just a few more ideas.

Check /data/app, it won't be named lightning but you'll see the icon if it's there. I think it will say bare bones browser or something like that.

I appreciate the ideas, but its not the router -- its something I did on/to the ROM after installing (i.e., the ROM not the problem, I am). I reinstalled the ROM and WiFi works fine. Now just have to be patient with my reinstalls to see what caused the problem.

I keep getting force closes with DNS manager when receive incoming calls and and when I made outgoing calls but not as often. .All the features are disabled in DNS i have fixed permissions nothing helps. Should I uninstall the App?

OK, I found and deleted it, but all it did was remove the icon, leaving the "Lightning" tag!

Try rebooting. If that doesn't fix it try to drag the icon off the dock and delete it then add the browser you want to use to the dock. If that doesn't work you'll have to delete MiHome's data in settings and set it up again.

This v3.8 is working great and noticeably faster on my Marquee than the last version! It even runs Vector (awesome side-scrolling Parkour game)! I'm so thankful for the swipe-based notification dismissal. Have you noticed it being a bit jumpy or having to swipe multiple times?
Anyway, my main question is something I had problems with on the last version: Wifi Tethering. How do I get it to work? I just keep getting the error code telling me to update my Profile, no matter how many times I actually do so.
I'm on Sprint, if that helps at all.

the swipe to clear isn't fancy like it is in JB. while you swiping you gotta stay inside the notification box or else it resets.

for tether you gotta do this: http://androidforums.com/marquee-all-things-root/540509-rom-ctmod-3-80-04-01-13-a-3.html#post4321728

or install a tether app from the market.

Happy you got it working and nice to meet another Tomato user.

Actually what happened is that once I erased the data file, it allowed me to remove the icon from the dock, and replace it with the Boat Browser icon.

However, the cool little themed icon no longer maps to the button, even when I change the theme (see example below)

Dunno about that. sounds like a bug with the launcher.
