In attempts to update my PRL I noticed that while entering ##3828# (##DATA#) Nothing happens, I'm trying to open that so I can use alogcat to retrieve my MSL #. Any advice anyone? I've also tried the terminal emulator string su (enter) getprop ril.MSL (enter) with no luck, only a black line and no MSL. Any help to get an MSL from this rom would be greatly appreciated.

Its not showing up in the search, let me see if I can find and .apk file online for it and see if it works.

The app is called "Get my MSL"

I found it on app brain, going to try and install it from them, ill post back.

Still says not compatible with your device :/

It may help to note I am on the ZTE warp on boost mobile....

So ill be posting this issue on the other thread, didnt notice I was on the wrong one >_< Sorry!

I can't save any new contacts...anyone else have this issue? Always tells me android.process.acore force closes.

You just need to load a new app before deleting the stock one. You can freeze the stock app first and use the new one and if a problem just unfreeze the stock and if no problem then just delete the stock one. You should have no problem with those. Some other important ones you might not be able to do. Phone, messaging, launcher, keyboard, music, ect... can be done with no problem. Just remember to load new one first.

If he deletes the stock launcher and then does a factory reset, he will not have a launcher when the phone reboots. He will either need to just keep the stock launcher or make the new launcher a system app.

I read in an earlier post where you had mentioned making it a system app With Titanium. You really need to make sure he understands that. If he does a factory reset and the new launcher isn't a system app he's screwed. He'll have to start all over again.

So is there a way to just update without wiping all my data? I made a backup of course but I'm just wondering if you can go from 75 to 75.2 (and etc) without basically resetting everything.

goomanager kept nagging me that there was a ROM update but there was no 'update' option. just flash. and even then, it just booted into CWM and I did it manually.

You will have to update all of your data Apps ect.... the SD card and partitions will be okay

Uot Will not give me a zip, I don't know what to do, I am manually editing my pngs for now. But I don't understand why I'm getting a shtf error. Any one covered this yet?

I'm not sure but this is my guess! If you use Uot for a theme and then try to post in mediafire it says it is copyrighted. I used Uot for 2 small things in my updated blue and nobody can download even me. So like I said, it say's in media that it is copyrighted and can't be posted.

Now I have it posted in dropbox and works fine.

So it is either that or something blood did?

I just made a back to stock zip and put Bloods file into it and used mediafire and works just fine so it is not something Blood did! It is something that UOT puts into the files so you can't post it publicly is what my guess is!

I'm having a few issues with the 3.75 rom. The 12/31 update fixed most of them. But I still can't get the stock web browser to work with 3.75. I have one backed up that I was using with all the previous ctmods that worked fine. I even tried a few different version and every time I get the same error. Its installs just fine but when I try to run it the screen goes blank white for a few seconds and then I get an "unexpected error" anyone else able to get it to work if so how?the boat browser is cool but I find the stock browser runs much more snappy. The clock is the wrong time as well it fixes itself but always ends up going to the wrong time again. Also everytime I reboot I lose most of my desktop icons back into the drawer and any alternate keyboard settings. Thanks if anyone can help

I have flashed 3.75.2 3 times trying different things each time. I went by the book the first time. I am having a problem with lag a lot. Like 5-6 seconds opening apps and so bad that I don't think my action took and it then takes it twice. I tried then with a different sd card. I used a 4gb class 10 the first time. 2nd time used a 8gb class 4. I still got the lags. I am setting the CT Mod settings to Data and 0 priority. 3rd time I tried clearing dalvik and cache before rebooting after flashing. It is at the kernel screen now for 30 minutes or so.

Any ideas? I came from CT Mod 3.6 because it had lags but not as bad as the latest.
I have flashed 3 tablets multiple times with no issue because I try to read the entire thread and seeing problem others had and try to avoid them and it has paid off. Kinda lost this time.
TIA

Hi,

FIRST......... with a class 10 card, CTMod3.75.2 should scream.......

SECOND : Here is what I would try :

1. Flash CTMod again
2. Let you phone boot up totally
3. Use "setting>>>CtMod Settings>>>Partition settings and make a 1GB sdext and a 512MB swap partition ( slide the FAT partition slider to the left to create more partitions ) Once you have made the 1 GB ext4 and the 512MB swap, slide the FAT slider all the way to the right again..... Then create them....
4. Reboot again and start up the phone
5. Go to Settings>>>CTMod Serttings>>>Kernel settings and select "DATA" and OK
6. IMPORANT : Now hold your power button down for a second or two, select REBOOT, then RECOVERY
7. Now re-format your 1GB sdext again ( NOT YOUR FAT )
8. Then reboot system and see how it works.

( After you tried it out, you might want to go back to Settings>>>CTMod Settings>>> Kernel settings and set the swap to :
1. Line : /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 / then priority 100 / swappiness 60 )

Reboot and try !! Let us know !!

Thanks so much vce2005!!
I had some very strange things happening. Even though the Kingston 4gb class 10 and Samsung 8gb class 2 both checkout fine there is something amiss. Both were causing koumakernel to hang after a small change like setting the swap path and priority as you instructed. I would let it sit for an hour waiting for it to finish but never did. I would hard boot it and it would then boot fine. But the phone would hang at the weirdest spots. Also FCs on com.google.process.gapps.

Anyway I then used my 16 gb class 10 Sandisk and followed your instructions. Voila!! no more issues. Wow! But it was worth it. The thing screams as you said it would. All is well thanks to both you and a new sdcard. Your directions were nice and concise and I appreciate that.
Thanks to all of you who work on this stuff for us little people.
I'm really glad though that I had some problems otherwise I would have not learned as much as I did. I learn something new with every flash.

Thanks Bill

Not sure what it is, but it seems, some sd-cards ( even from the same manufacturer ) wont work in the Prevail and people get stuck at the Kouma kernel logo..... I had that happened with a 16GB card which worked fine in everything I have put the card in, also on the computer, but didn't work in the Prevail.

Glad all works for you now and I could help you out a bit ! :)

I went into the kernel settings to set the swap and it didn't seem to do anything for me. I hit save settings and rebooted but the terminal emulator still says 0 for swap when I use the free command. Could it still be working and just now showing with that command? I followed the instructions above exactly but maybe I was supposed to format the swap partition again or something? I should say I'm using HalfAssRom but I think it should work the same.

[edit]
Okay, it's late and my brain wasn't working right for a bit there and had a hard time finding this answer at first. Even though I followed the directions and made the swap partition when doing the formatting part, I still had to open the terminal and execute

Code:
mkswap /dev/block/mmcblk0p3

after doing su of course. Then I rebooted and all was good to go. This may be because HalfAss has an older version of the kouma settings thing but if it's the same for ctmod then it's good info to have here.

Apps still just disappear, every reboot, lag everywhere, Widgets aren't showing up in widget picker, data seems to be spotty (tested on Cm7, Miui, and CM9 they are fine). I am sorry but I have to go for another ROM for now... apps don't even load right.

I guess you did something wrong then, or your Prevail is messed up, because mine works incredibly well with this ROM. Apps just disappear? That's incredibly odd unless you're removing your sdcard or something crazy like that.

I've been using CTMod since it first came out and there have been a few releases that have been a bit off at first, but they were quickly patched and was good as new. This final release is the best so far and it seriously screams on this little pos phone. =P

I second that ! CTMod3.75.2 Final is the best and fastest release so far. Absolutely no lag and no problems !!

Dais : Might also be a combination of the apps you're using.... might cause problems.

If you have the usb cable plugged in some of the apps on the sdcard will "disappear" because the sdcard is not mounted. Not sure if that is your problem. If you read my post above I was having incredible lag until I changed sdcards. There was nothing wrong with my card as I was using in tablets. They were not "cheap" cards either. They were name brand. I had all kinds of strange things going on until I went to a 3rd sdcard. HTH
