Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

just tested it and it works fine for me

The application Messaging (process.com. android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly).

This happens with an MMS message sent to me when I try to launch it. Dunno of the media (looks to be a video) is flash based. Rebooted and tried again, but the same results on both messaging apps. It give me the FC and Report options.

if it's flash based, then there's your problem
Flash isn't supported on this device

 And it sure as hell better be at four times the price. it just doesn't let you learn the way android does. everyone's is the same and..

alright, i'm done before i rant on apple and take this thread off the rails. :)

lulz, dude perhaps i should add a new tip to my noob's guide

x. don't fall for the apple fan boi trolls

I think posters who use words like "noobs" and "fanboi's" over a phone need hormone treatment.

Just to clarify my point a bit here:

Android phones are fragmented to the point where Mods and ROMs are necessary due to carrier bloat, different specs, etc. iOS and the iPhone aren't. It's more about what the end user needs, how they adapt, and the ease of use. If I have to go and search the internet to find a better solution to make a particular device more manageable, and spend countless hours tweaking it, I think the costs offset each other.

Besides, a Verizon Pre-Paid Droid like the x2 and the 3 aren't cheap without a 2 year contract. That very well be my next purchase of a Android phone, yet I still would have to flash ROM's as well because of the aforementioned issues.

All this being said, this is the best ROM I've found, because I like a "barebones" ROM that is fast and efficient. The problem now is to find this ROM or similar for say the Droid X2.

Get it now?

Is it save to update The kaumakernal 0.1 to 1.0 GB with the latest ctmod 2.1 GB rom to enable bootanimations?

The search key doesn't start the app. Long pressing it, it wants to launch Handcent's Quick Compose function. Is there a conflict somehow? I downloaded Google Search, but I can't set the search key to run the app. I didn't do anything to the ROM or changed anything to it. Suggestions or thoughts?

pull GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk out of the app zip in the first post and move it to /system/app then reboot and your button will work

.

Thanks. Read the first post but didn't see the fix. Looked thru most of this thread to find a solution too. Thanks again. Great ROM. The best I have tried.

I bought this device before the first root solution was posted here. In fact, I've been reading this forum when there was only 2-3 posts, before there was a working root. I've tried almost all of Shabby's MOD's from his first to his latest, as well a hroark's stuff, your themes and fixes, as well as other's. Been working with this phone since release, and this one hit what I want out of the device. Great work.

Best ROM yet Blood. Maybe until hroark ports CM to GB. Who knows. This is excellent work and something to be very proud of. Love it. I know a lot is due to GB itself being superior to Froyo, but you were PDQ at jumping on it from the start and putting this out with very little problems to speak of. It Rocks. My WIFI hotspot is running faster than ever over 3g. Videos are running faster than ever over 3gr. And I live in a terrible reception area

Thank you so much.

Applied the new patch and it's running flawlessly ! :D

As for Apple , HEH ! Half the fun of having this little phone is getting the new MODS and installing them . OH !! And don't let me forget my $40 mnthly payment . That doesn't hurt either ! :p

maaaaaan. thats the only thing holding me back lol. well good work bro. ill be checkin back often...

You say that now, if you run this ROM, you wont be saying that. Running this Rom is better than having a theme when you realize how much better your phone runs. The best thing is if you try and dont like it you can switch back with Odin. But you wont.

Great job Bloodawn!

Very stable, quick, clean release!
I appreciate you supplying a link with the apk's you removed as well, it keeps everyone happy!

Also, I think its clever to remove things like gmail and youtube apks to avoid having two installations (update apk and system). [saves space]

I went from having 30mb free to 60mb free in the same scenario of software with this release.

Very good and simple!!!!
ALSSOOO!!!
I appreciate you creating an upgrade patch for those who have it installed...I hope this is a continued trend!

A few suggestions for future versions:

-Include Appwidget Picker
[APP] AppWidget Picker - Makes Selecting Widgets Simpler!

For those who are not familiar, this 16kb bit consolidates widgets that have multiple widgets.
For example, BeatyfulWidgets, instead of having 9 widgets to scroll through you have one entry with a sub menu.
It looks simple and stock.

-Notification Copy
There are some scenarios where an entry is highlighted and the border becomes white and the white copy is illegible.
Also, the sub copy is black when a song plays for example and is also illegible.

-Orange Removal
There are still some areas with orange...I am assuming you want to replace all the orange with white....or perhaps green for contrast??
I know when you press down a check box item it turns orange.
Some copy is orange on the keyboard as well where the auto correct suggestions are.
The line under the tabs in the dialer turns orange when you click on the selected tab...(perhaps make these areas green?)
Selecting a contact turns the frame around the picture orange as well, and the little slide out menu has orange selection when items are pressed on it.
Buttons turn orange when they are pressed as well.
(Not too important though, just some nit-picky cosmetics)

Thanks again for milking the value of this device!!!!
Great job!!! :):):):):)

PS: "CTMod....It isn't the cat's ass...its the chicken's tits!!!"

Ohh another thing I forgot to mention!!!

Is it me or does it seem that when in a phone call the buttons are sometimes un-responsive.

For example, sometimes I have to touch the speaker button 2-3 times before it registers.
Same goes for the button that shows the digits.
In other instances all is snappy in the dialer.
This is the only area that shows any lag like this.
It may be a stock gingerbread on prevail issue though...

Ok I downloaded the zip
installed it to my sd card
opened up ROM MANAGER
and this is where I get stuck at... When I boot into clockmod recovery it just gives me these 4 options:
Reboot
Apply sd card update
Factory Reset
Wipe Cache

When I click apply it claims the PATH/E: failed and doesn't do anything

I also selected Install ROM from SD Card and all it does it bring me back to this standard recovery system that doesn't work for me... Some help? Yes, I'm a noob lol...

My phone is rooted and I'm running on the gingerbread update. I use to have the Shabby 09 but I went back to stock via ODIN to install the update. Now I want to install this custom ROM because frankly, Boost ROMs suck Rosie O Donell tits nd damn, that really SUCKS

There are several topics on ROM MANAGER some even stickied. ROM MANAGER is NOT compatible with the prevail. You're lucky you didn't permanently brick your phone like many others have. You need to use Clockwork Recovery Mod sticked at the top of the page to install CTMod.

Hey blood, I downloaded verison 2.1 and 3g doesnt work it crashes when you try and turn it on. So I reloaded 2.0 and tried the hot fix and it crashes withthe update.I reload 2.0 with no fix and 3g works. I was wondering have you though of making a different version of CTMod, maybe something with a nice blue theme and some of the fatty features you trimmed in CTMod ? Thanks this is the best ROM !! (still love ya shabby ... )
