Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

Just wanted to chime in and say thank you Bloodawn. This is by far the best and fastest my phone has ever run. Your Rom along with aps2sd and CWM make this the best phone I have ever owned.

Yeah thank you Bloodawn, this is an excellent ROM! My phone is running very smoothly! And thanks to Darktremor for A2SD, my phone has 143 mb of storage and I have a lot of apps installed! Wowwwwww! This is freaking awesome! Also not to mention thanks to everyone else that has been involved with the development of all mods and improvements for these phones! :D

Hey blood... I'm not sure what all you mean by the camera button on the new 2.2 but I just want to say that my camera works just fine. If you go in camera settings and select"color effects" the camera will force close but EVERY other option works perfect the camera button on the screen and the one on the side of the phone. It all works flawless except for the color effects.

Is anyone else having issues with MIUI camera?
When I click "Color effect" it force closes.
Also I cannot change the brightness in this application, when I move the slider no changes occur.
In the gingerbread camera there was a "night mode" for low-light conditions.
Is there any option like this in MIUI camera that i'm missing?

Yep. Same here. i brought it up before.

Bloodawn said it will be fixed in 2.4 :D lol no pressure blood

Bloodawn btw just to let you know. Ever since you made those modifications to the Wireless, I've been able to scan for networks and connect to them just fine. It can locate all the networks around me now so I don't need the Wireless Analyzer app anymore. It seems to be working perfectly since the updates. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case I didn't mention it before.

Alright, for anyone who has trouble adding apps to /system/app this is about as easy as it gets

Download this - ApkInstaller.zip

Open ApkInstaller.zip using 7zip and drag and drop your apk's you need to the system/app folder in the zip

Throw the zip on your sdcard and flash it in CWM and your done

Don't make a post asking for help if you try adding some random app that you downloaded from the market or some website and the app doesn't work

edit:added a link to this in the first post so no one can say they can't find it

Hey Bloodawn,
I tried opening the .zip folder with 7zip and it won't let me copy any apks into the system/app folder. I don't know what I could be doing wrong. What do you think the problem could be? Thanks

It wont let you copy a file while viewing the zip folder . You have to create a new folder and unzip the zip folder to it. Then you can select copy. At least that's what I did

I've got a quick question also, if anyone can help. Since i have been running CTmod I have left the original wallpaper. Today I finally changed it to something else and I was wondering how I can select no wallpaper and go back the original black "CTmod" wallpaper? I think its cool and I like to arange my apps to leave the center open so you see the CTmod logo :)

Thanks.

if your using 7zip you can copy straight to the zip, there will be a pop up asking if you want to add the files and you click ok

hi. I like CTmod but recently acted on an ongoing desire to return to the stock rooted gb rom. after doing so and entering my google creds, the market will update some stuff, then itself. after that point, the market will not download or update anything, claiming there is insufficient storage on the phone. I have plenty of space.

my suspicion is that CTmod is formatting the phone in a way that is not recognized by the stock ROMs updated market. How can I fix this?

Thanks all, and good work with CTmod.

So do I create a new ZIP folder or a normal folder and copy apks onto that and then compress them back into a zip? Just making sure I do it right. Thanks

Just unzip them to a normal open folder and leave it unzipped. Although Bloodawn mentioned above that you CAN copy it from "7"zip like you said your using. Check his post above.

CTmod formats the /cache partition to EXT4
The stock roms do not have ext4 support.
You're probably experiencing an issue with /cache not being mounted and the downloader attempting to write files to the placeholder folder.
There is a fix, I'll track it down and edit this post with a link for ya

Edit: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...ck-factory-updated-11-09-a-9.html#post3462578

download rfscache.zip and install that through CWM
If you have the stock recovery, try just doing a factory reset and see if it shows success when formatting /cache (stock recovery should format it to rfs)

I believe i gave him the zip that fixes that?

Yeah you gave him the 411, i gave him the quick way out no learning required lol

Worst part is I just did some experimenting, and now I'm going to have to put the cache file back into my Odin image file tool. The csc.tar file that version 2.0 made, that I took out for 2.1 to save 2 minutes, flashes successfully in ODIN.

At least we wont need to replace all of the current stock images in the ODIN thread. One csc.tar of a freshly formatted RFS /cache partition will work for all :)

thanks for the info/files, guys, I'm flashing now and will report back.

ps, I'd REALLY like someone to simply de-CIQ that stock, rooted ROM and post it. I personally don't want any mods, but I'd like to get CIQ out of there (if only because it saps cpu/battery)

thanks again!
