Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

I have a folder on my desktop pc with all the ringtones from CM7. I want to add them to CT MOD. I tried to do it but my sd card doesnt have the same directory structure as the folder with the ringtones. specifically i cant find a folder named media or ringtones.

Just create new directories with those names or copy the whole directory over and pretty much all file managers will create them. A ringtone doesn't need to be in a specific directory to be accessible. Perhaps it may more easy to locate in a particular directory but it's not required...

****ing queers over on the Precedent forum took ctmod 2.3 and pretty much just changed the apps folder and didn't even give me credit for anything

this is why i didn't do anything for that phone

Bloodawn there is a Force Close that occurs when you click on 'Color Effects' on the MUI Camera App. Not sure if anyone else is getting this.

P.S: I think it's cruel and extremely immature that someone took your mod and revamped it without giving you any credit whatsoever. Sadly, these things happen and honestly I haven't seen any true moderation by the forum support to stop it. I believe shabby had the same issue happen to him.

I saw what you called them over there. You know, my family is Jewish. Is that how you feel about people of my bloodline?

Just wondering how much I need to do from the 4vg thread while running CT2.3. I don't wanna mess this mod up because it is excellent. But if the 4vg thing will help signal and such I would like to do that. I just don't wanna mess up the CT2.3 build prop if it is not necessary.

blood is there a special way to put a custom carrier name on your ct 2.3 rom ? i been doing it the standard way decompliing the framework but its not working is there something else i have to do?

Thats just how the camera is, I didn't actually make the camera i just modded it to work on the phone so theres really nothing i can do to fix that

You don't need to make any build.prop changes, you can change your prl and turn 4vg on tho. If it doesn't work out for you just change it back

are you talking about in the notification drop down? I completely removed that whole area

If i remember right tho you can get it to show up on the lockscreen on the top right if you edit this

Code:
<string name="zz_roamingText1" />

to something like

Code:
<string name="zz_roamingText1">wat</string>

That's messed up! If it helps, I just sent you $5.00 via PP... I'll send more when funds are available... especially if I keep using CTMod... Love it so far...

OK... I want to address the Android Market thing I started yesterday on page 21 of this thread: Market Apps that aren't compatible after switching to CTMod.

I THINK that it has something to do with the "Market Filters" as used on apps to exclude certain devices. Just don't know which one(s).

a. The app that I am using to check my step by step modding of build.prop is the Walmart App. (I know, it's a lame app, but it is just an example of an app that used to be available, but now it is not)

b. I changed the two lines I talked about last night to ones that were in the ROM package that worked.... It made no difference.

c. I read about one/two of the filters talking about SDK version... so I changed the SDK form 10 back to 8 in build.prop. No joy, and it broke my system... (black screen "forever") Fortunately, I was able to CWM just the system back and got the phone back.

d. That's where I am now... I am hesitant to try anything else until I learn more... I am NOT a programmer, and have just enough skills to be dangerous. ;)

I'm still somewhat convinced that it has something to do with the filters, though.

I had some trouble when I initially flashed with the market saying that I had NO DEVICE associated with my market/gmail account.... Then, when it finally showed up, it showed a bunch of apps still Installed that weren't.... Then finally, I was able to install MOST of the apps by clicking on "Installed" and re-installing....

On my Details Tab under My Orders, my phone was showing up as "unknown device" or something like that... when originally, the market had my phone listed with a Name and all the other associated data.

Could it also have something to do with the CIQ removal?

I'm going to go research...

thanks for the donation!

have you tried on stock gingerbread to see if the apps show up and everything?

it wont have anything to do with CIQ and i doubt it has to do with the build.prop at all

i can probably hack the vender.apk to make all apps show up even if they don't work with the phone, would probably work for CM7 too

Well, I started out on the stock Gingerbread/E06... but I haven't tried to go back to it as I am afraid I'll jack it up.... stuff like my cahce being EXT-4 not RFS and my EXT-4 partition, et al. stuff I am not fully versed on.... I could Odin back to the rooted Gingerbread if it would help to troubleshoot... if there's a fairly safe way to do so where all I have to do to get back to CTMod2.3 is to simply CWM my backup back in (and TB my apps if necessary.

OK... glad it isn't the CIQ...

It MIGHT not have anything to do with build.prop, but I think I have definitely found ONE possibility for this Walmart app....

IF the WM dev used:
Code:
<uses-sdk android:[URL="http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/manifest/uses-sdk-element.html#max"]maxSdkVersion[/URL]="integer"/>
And set the integer to anything <10, then the app wouldn't show up under CTMod2.3, since it uses API Level 10.

There are other filters that might interfere too, but likely not part of the build.prop deal... like <uses-libraries> et al.

Hacking the vender.apk is certainly an option, though it'd be better IMHO if it could be fixed without the hack, so that you don't have to push an app after the flash... If you put the hack in the base ROM, folks might be getting apps they THINK would work, but won't... that would cause some consternation that isn't necessary.

I don't know... I'm still reading...

I added google maps with the apk installer. I turn on GPS but when I try to use google navigation it says "this app needs a working data connection."

any ideas?

the build.prop in ctmod is pretty much the exact same as stock GB, none of my changes or things i added would have anything to do with the market

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/37768988/build.props.zip

its either a problem with the apps themselves or the market

Yep... sorry to waste your time. Only thing I can think of now is that a. The apps that won't DL now were installed under FROYO and weren't run AFTER the upgrade OTA to Gingerbread.... Then when the new GB ROM was flashed on an empty device, the market re-checked the excludes on the filters on some apps...

BTW... that maxSDK filter is now deprecated and if it is in apps WILL jack newer users and/or upgrades up... I'll send emails to the devs to ask them about that...

In the meantime, I am setting up a full DEV environment on my system... just for the heck of it.

I noticed that in CTMod 2.3 the notification area is grey/trantsparent and the writing on there is black. Makes it kinda hard to read...

Maybe there's a solution that I'm missing because I cheated and didn't read the whole 20+ page thread?

the notification text is all white

what app made the notification that you saw black?

I don't know what caused his, but I've seen downloads in progress show as black text and be difficult to read. they turn white again when they turn into a download completed notification

I just blame dolphin and ignore it

I think you misunderstood me. The text on the bar is white. The icons are too.

What I'm referring to is the other stuff that gets on the notifications... I tried downloading from the Market and the text from that gets to be white. The one that gave me trouble is Aptoide. While downloading with Aptoide the text on the notification is black on black.

yea, i understood you

theres nothing i can do about that as it doesn't have to do with the rom but the way the app was made, some apps don't use the default text color for notifications
