Look at my post above. I had the same problem. Trust me just flash the second Alpha then flash the 3rd right over it. It works and now I have the theme chooser installed, and it is showing status bars, but idk if the data is work yet or not.

+1 it worked for me, still no data, camera still not working nor wifi :( but other then that, it feels so smooth. I like good work.
 
Alpha3 installed with CWM just fine, but i did format system, data, and cache just before.

A few things though;
I was able to make a call to *228 and try and update the prl's but as the call ended i saw something along the lines of "No SIM" where it should usually say "Download complete." After that i had no signal.

I cannot enable wifi it only returns "Error", worked in Alpha2 though.

Unrelated to alpha-testing, where is it you start for a project like this? I have some experience in C++, C, C# and most recently java. But when it comes to finding out what is needed to start on something like this i cannot find the right starting point. If something like that is too complex, perhaps a MIUI port based off of this?

Yea me too, but then I did the ADB Shell thing and figured it out. Im pretty sure it should be easy because I am a teenager that just read about SDK and ADB today and had no trouble. Or you could flash that .zip someone posted a couple posts back. Sorry if I made it worse I was just saying what worked for me because I was upset mine was bootlooping.
 
A little off topic: I noticed in the prevail threads that Hroark has ported the Admire rom to the prevail.. he said since these phones hardware setups were very similar... maybe requisite0 could ask him for a little assistance to help fix some of the final bugs we are having for this phone...

Just putting it out there ..:rolleyes:

Actually alpha3 is a mixture of Unforgiven512's device profile, and things I've learned from looking at hroark13's prevail device profile. It's introduced a few more little bugs doing it this way, but it makes for a better end product in my opinion.

Sorry you guys are having trouble with Alpha3, it's working damned near flawlessly on my phone (except for the camera and data), but I'm done working on it for the night. Have to go in to work early, and not sure how much time I'll be able to devote tomorrow, but I'm not giving up.

We're almost there, and once this is working 100%, I'm going to get to work on trying to port ICS.
 
Glad to hear you are making progress... like I said, Hroark has some mad skills and is very knowledgeable with porting.. good luck tomorrow at work and thanks for all your hard work.
 
Playfulgods wife bought an admire the other day n said that he might be working on the admire next after finishing with the lg esteem. maybe we can ask him to take a look at this?
 
Is there someone who would upload all the zips to 4 shared because I only have the phone and media fire will not download to the phone for some reason? Any ideas?

For some reason I have download issues with mediafire links as well... I have to click the try again button and then hit download link again and then it starts downloading fine.. so try that and see if it works for you... don't know why its like that but it seems to work on 2nd attempt everytime.. good luck! ;)
 
me too for some reason.

got it to boot, fixed the phone issue with the zip posted above, and now I get errors when trying to turn on wifi... I cant get a damn break.

We would probably have to wait until its stable to port miui to the admire, otherwise we will run into the same problems as cm7
 
We have been trying to port it to the prevail as well... still having camera issues and mms issues and some other screen glitches... once its done to ours I'm sure someone can port it easier to the Admire .:)

I don't really like doing binary ports though, just seems sloppy to me. I'm a sucker for building from source (lol my Kubuntu is built 100% from source, with the core i7 optimizations, ****ing fassssssst).

Should be getting off work here in about two or three hours, and I'll get back to work on this.

Basically you just need to know how to build projects from source (Makefiles and what-have-you), the amount of code you actually need to modify isn't that much, just for things like libcamera (C/C++), the CDMA phone wrapper (Java) etc.
