Since this is an issue that I've run into before with other cricket phones I've developed for, I think I'll be apt for solving this one for cricket users.

We'll see on the weekend. :)
 
Yep. Installed the APN. Even reflashed and manually changed the APN settings.

The NAM and PRL download/commit msgs that you normally get when dialing *228 were not present, so something is definitely up.
Unfortunately I need my phone for work during the week, so I'll check it out more on the weekend
you try updating the prl on stock then reflashing your cm7 nandroid? apns are buggy but im not sure if theyre matching with the build.prop. for me it was 310/000, did my apn and edited build.prop to match it at 310/027 and i was all set. on stock++ tho it was totally different lol. if you get it to work on the criket keep us informed! good luck!

This ROM needs to be deodexed and re-released -- will make the UI snappier.
ive been working on that, but having trouble..i have the apks and jars all deodexed, but i think im messing up the framework

You should google cm7 lockscreens. Theres a few flashable zips.
will definitly check that out..ive been spending most my time trying to find out about the camera and trying to deodex/zipalign

*edit: I've got MMS partially working (text, but no data so far), and I've got 3g up and running (not too stable -- need to toggle wifi sometimes to reinitialize data connection).

good news on deodexing, how did you get it done? i could never get the phone to boot past android screen
ive got mms 100%, maybe the thread in my sig might help you
gps is spotty as hell with data/3g, wifi it orks great. i get no icons in status bar tho (not sure if thats a cm7 thing tho)
ive read that updating the baseband would help with data, but im kinda reluctant on instaling stuff thru odin right now
i use data all day when im at work, seems fine, but i notice when im downloading stuff from google play, it downloads fine but signal sticks at -96/-101 dbm
 
Im on the cricket network, so Its just a matter of finding the right mms settings for data Im sure.
I just deodexed /system/app/ and /system/framework/ from the zip, reinserted, reflashed, good to go.
I also get no gps icon in the status bar. Im reluctant to say GPS even works at this point.

I've also manually changed my build.prop, apns and fiddled with different mms apks. All to little avail. Our data programming is different than MPCS it seems.
And as to why gps does not function -- no clue.. Do you get a gps icon in the notification bar when searching for a location? I do not.

no, but i dont have a problem getting a location lock with data on latitude, maps, or any other app that uses gps
 
Odd. Well, its getting late, so I may as well sleep on it -- see if I can figure it out.
Im almost 100% sure it has to do with the process of formatting /data. Same shize happened on Crickets Zio, but I could work around it by using the stock recoveries factory reset (since the zio only had CWM support through fastboot), which reprogrammed all the data and gps configs.

I dont have any problem running Standalone GPS in stock the first time round. The problem occurs when GPS is turned off for more than a minute after obtaining a fix. If I turn it back on within a 40-50 minute time frame it will not discover sats until this period has expired irrespective of rebooting etc. I have noted through other searches that there are others having gingerbread gps works once errors and others mentioning froyo is better all round. Fixes are also circulating but not for this model. From analysing logs on stock I have noted status 9 and the occasional wrong prn errors. I thoug

I have looked in his source code and couldnt locate anything gps related. It appears samsung have omitted it from their source code too. There is no GPSD equivalent service on cm7 at this time so the gps server/daemon will not start at all. I hope that whatever service they use they revise the gpslocationprovider/cleanup code before putting it out. I doubt my chip is faulty because it wouldnt work flawlessly first time round. Unfortunately I dont have other devices to test against and most users in these forums dont appear to know what standalone gps is let alone test it under set conditions to rule out a firmware issue.
 
Well, cricket dev. may be a little stalled at the moment. I was working on finding the recovery partition by dd'ing all the partitions in /dev when my cat knocked my phone off the desk mid-dd spilling the battery out. I rebooted and now I have no service. =\ Tried reflashing to no avail. ergh ><

Would having the stock ROM provide you with the source code for stock GPS? I know you've been looking for either a Vitality stock ROM or a Vitality stock Nandroid backup; I don't have either of those but someone who says they work at Cricket (member name Momojams) seems to be willing to provide them:

I'm learning how to make an image of a stock ROM so that I can direct Momojams on how to get us one. I haven't been successful making one with my device, however. (Details are documented on the thread I've linked to.)
