Root [ROM] Darkside Bound

Do I really need a data wipe?
I need to keep a ton of texts as I run my music promotion gig from my phone

If you install Nandroid Manager, you can pull all your SMS, MMS, Bluetooth pairings, WIFI points, call logs, User Word Dictionary:) and even restore Apps & their Data (eg; I opened Speed Test and all my former results were there) out of your Nandroid Backup. I found so far it works better than TiBu and much easier. Just tap on the backup, slide from the left side for your restore menus.

It even claims to be able to flash a new recovery, although I haven't tried it since the only thing we have is stock and I'm not in need of returning it, but one may never know.

The AwesomeBeats app needs to be setup to your personal likes. It's weird but it works.

I don't hear any changes when using Bluetooth, nor did I on Ac!d (mod, lol). But when wired - headphones or sound system - WOW!

Using Jabra BT3030 + Dennon ear buds.

Not that I'm complaining

Cool. I use titbu pro and it can restore system app (like SMS) data but I know that sometimes doing so can break stuff. It happens if the app is not the same one in your old rom.

I tried everything and can't get it to work. I had the same problem with my last phone, some EQ apps work and some don't play nice with a particular handset. Most likely the DTS being an asshole here. Oh well ;)

Ok, so here's the deal...
The phones speaker is crap, just a fact. Now, the awesome beats boost does next to nothing on the boost side, it really has nothing to boost.... but you can squeeze a bit more volume out of it and here's how

Open awesome beats to the speaker screen.
Set a custom equalizer and jack all bands up until they are just barely below the red zone. To fix distortion on bassy songs drop the lowest band (far left) by about 1/8 and the next band by about 1/16

Bam! Its not much but it does the job with as little distortion as possible.

Do any of you use spundcloud? I used it last night to both stream and record without issue but after flashing dusk it doesn't seem to want to load up

I was using boneface's JellyBeanSandwich ROM for a good while but figured I would check out Darkside bound

Long story short I like it but I have one problem
see in JellyBeanSandwich my external SD was seen as sdcard not sdcard2
I tried the swap method that is on another thread but while it works I can no longer access my sd card from when connected as mass storage

also how can I make it so when I install a new app it does not make a shortcut on desktop? its really anoying

Toke: I'm not sure what's up with my Premia. Awesomebeats with all seriousness did nothing at all. Not even a half decibel of boost. Here is the kicker.... I deleted Awesomebeats, installed a generic EQ from the market that works excellent with my LG Connect, when many others wouldn't work at all. Nothing worked on Premia yet again. I then installed the lame ass generic unofficial DSP manager from the market, and I managed to get that working, but it only worked while generic EQ app was still installed...?? After uninstalling EQ, the DSP only took effect/worked during a Pandora commercial! Back to default when music came back on. Changed all settings, rebooted, made sure Pandora not set to Bluetooth. I can't figure this shit out....

Don't use the thread method, Under SETTINGS:STORAGE the first roe is default storage. Tap it, then choose external SD card. But you will not be able to access it when connected as mass storage. Android thing. MTD will allow to access it on phone as well as both SD cards from your PC, but the transfer time is much slower. You also don't get file properties and such on Windows when viewing this way. Huawei has Hi-Suite on their website to manage it, and it gives you the right drivers. Wondershare Mobile Go for Android will also let you access the phone's file system as well.
As for the shortcut, Nova Launcher will let you disable that, but you also have to disable it in your playstore settings.

I changed the default storage and it seems to be working as I wanted 0__0
I guess its just on SD by default on JBS :/

I can access it just fine by mass storage tho its name did change on my PC
oh and I fixed the shortcut thing by just turning it off in the store >__<

this is my first android device so i'm still learning ^__^
I <3 the phone but dat battery life tho...

External storage will always be default on my roms. I like having room for stuff like apps.

I see so all you did was set SD as default so one doesn't need to change it in settings after install

Nicely done on the JBS ROM BTW but as i'm new i'm hoping around to see what fits me best ^__^

So i rooted and made a backup of a friends phone then flashed darkside. Only i goofed in calculating internal storage space, and the difference in size tween stock and darkside is such that i cant restore data backup. Is there a program where i can just extract media files from cwm backup file seperatly the delete them from the backup so that everything else will restore? I know nandroid allows me to extract but its still in the backup. Thanx

Nandroid manager, free on market.
Another member recommended it to me to restore sms but it does a bunch of stuff.

you can extract anything you want from the nandroid, but the original file will always be there.
if you choose to delete part or any of the nandroid, it becomes corrupted and unusable.
maybe look into yaffs, or have you just tried restoring ONLY data in cwm, moving media files to external sd card afterwards?
and again..just an fyi..internal storage is NOT recommended for storing cwm backups.

lol

Nandroid manager let's you extract, modify and delete stuff in backups and repack them so they aren't corrupt.
They show as corrupt unless repacked because the md5 sum changes. Same reason you can't just crack open a rom zip file and do anything without repacking.

nandroid manager does not let you delete or modify anything in a backup, and it certainly doesnt let you repack afterwards.
and anyone can crack open a rom zip file and add/delete stuff without unpacking and repacking all day.

I can say I have tried both roms....Iam more partial to dusk....maybe due to the simplicity of it. DS has some very nice features which make for very nice eye candy....don't get me wrong....very solid rom for sure. I added dc ikonz and added some depth to the ui...on the home screens and app drawer. I may be wrong...other will surely disagree....but I think dusk runs faster with the absence on the weather app....that ds uses.

You're right, Lol I was mistaken, it just let's you extract, not remove.

However, not everyone can unpack and modify stuff. Some of us don't have pc access

Pretty much everything is themed with little effort. Thanks killcmd.

Never taken a screen shot, and uploaded it. to a fourm, so I hope you guys can see it.

Hey guys,
I'm new to this whole ROM, Root, Flash thing and as much as I am embarrassed to say it, have never been so lost in something techy my entire life.

Please help me out and advise on what to do?
I Rooted my Premia and installed the ClockworkMod.

Now, what do I do to make my Phone the powerful machine it could be. And which ROM is the best to use?
