Root [ROM]DESTROYER...ready to wreck your evos face!!!!

Has anyone give this a go?

Found here on XDA.

The thread has been quite active since it's launch last night.

If nothing else, read the OP, it's pretty good.

I'm going to give it a try this weekend when I have more time to mess with it. I'm not used to a non-sense ROM so I want more time to get it setup.

Haha!! That Rom looks like a freaking dance party.

Im flashing this someday soon just because your subject made me laugh and because the OP is hilarious.

Yeah, I know, that's what hooked me at first too. I can't take credit for the subject though, it's straight from the XDA thread. Read through the first few pages of the thread if you haven't, it's damn funny.

When i make a rom, it shall be equally as face-melting, beastly and annihilating, and i shall call it the Emwood River Monster ROM. See for yourself...

so i just had to flash this after reading the op. especially after reading "SHINIER THAN A GAY MANS LIPGLOSS" And though i'm not normally an aosp guy, this thing looks good. i will give this a go and see how it runs. let y'all know later tomorrow.

This looks really good but I use my GPS all the time and am seeing mixed results for GPS tracking acuracy in the reviews. Hell, the GPS in the evo is the reason I bought it over the competition.

The guy deserves an award for his description though. It's comedy gold.

I flashed this last night as well. I think I was brainwashed by the boot animation. i woke up from a coma on my couch at 3 am.. lol.

haven't spent much time with the rom yet. going to set it all set up, but will probably flash back to my sense rom before monday. I have a road trip coming and want to be on a rom I know and trust. gonna be using gps ;-)

been running this since yesterday..
SUPER FAST, with fantastic graphics. add ons and colors!

The most "un-boring" CM ROM out there ATM...

Flash it, you'll love it!

ok so, i'm a sense guy, but whoa!!!! i think i am coming around to this one. gps is working and it is very fast. the only thing is battery life is not as great. 6hrs off charge and i'm at 59%. now i just need to do some research and find a kernel to go with this.

yeah I'm a sense rom guy myself. I thought this rom was pretty cool, but I think I'm done.

4g won't connect inside my home. its fine outside - not the deal breaker.

when sending a message and typing in a name it won't pull up any names or numbers. just what type of line it is and then I have to guess who?

it won't send any text messages. I was able to send one earlier and my friend responded with a question and I can not reply back. it just errors out. I have been trying now for 3 hours. reboots, wiped cache.. nothing. it just wont send a message, this makes my phone utterly useless.

I guess its back to sense for me, unless anyone knows a fix. I will be making a nandroid to try again later.

also my gps is off by about 6 blocks.

edit: figures right after I post this they start to go through. but not all, some still error out. :(

edit 2: it seems to be larger texts that won't send

If the texts are larger than 160 characters you might have to use something like handcent to split them up as it won't do that automatically yet. I am trying to figure out the background/text color change so you can see what you are typing. Other than that, I like the options available. I was running CM7 before flashing this and this being based on that rom makes it better for me.

GPS has been locked for me since I did the GPS fix a couple weeks back on Evervolv.

Has anyone been able to fix the black on black text issue? The OP in XDA said to flash the gapps2 file. I wiped Davlik and flashed it again and still have the black on black. I have not posted enough in XDA to post to his thread or I would ask there.

I believe he is working on a fix for the text problem even after flashing gapps2. I think switching themes takes care of it in the meantime.

I've seen this question asked before but haven't come across an answer. When using an AOSP dialer and you begin typing on the keypad, suggested names from contacts aren't displayed like they are in the Sense dialer. Is there a way to make that happen, or do you have to go to contacts and select the person to call from there?

I downloaded Dialer One and put that in the dock instead of the regular phone dialer. It works just like the sense one.

Thanks I will do that. Just out of curiosity, what is it that people like about the non-sense dialer? Seems like quite a few more steps to call a contact, but I must be missing something as I'm sure a lot of people use that dialer.

I laughed so hard when I read the OP. I'm going to give this one a try, I have to.

Any suggestions for alternate kernels?

I've never flashed an AOSP rom on my evo. I'm prety sure Net kernels are for sense roms only right?

Correct granite. I didn't have any problems with the stock kernel but my signature had the kernel I'm currently using with a link to the mirror to download your choice of savage kernels. A lot of people also like the savage 1.6. Check out the rom and kernels link in my signature for other kernels

I have rarely used an aosp rom, so I am not very used to the dialer. but there are definite things I like about the aosp dialer over the sense dialer.

the sense dialer is nice for typing in letters to search, but the aosp dialer does this too.

in the aosp dialer, hit the contacts tab and then hold the menu key and it pulls up the keyboard - then just type the name or first couple of letters it works just like sense. no need for 2 dialers - go try it.

what I do not like about sense is that it always puts your contacts or history on top of the dialer. what happens to me is that when I pull up my dialer I accidentally place a call to someone in my history. history also always covers up favorites in the dialer, yet there is a history tab, why do I need this. favorites are covered by history but there is no favorites tab. so I need to use the favorite widgets or direct dial or something, I like that except for the fact that I have to use it that way.

I would really like the sense dialer if it did not put any contacts on top of the dialer keys until I started to type a name.

in sense you need people and the dialer. with aosp you only need the dialer.

I think most people do not know they can pull up the keyboard by holding menu. this is not just for the aosp dialer, it works just about everywhere.

the sense dialer is nice as its quick to search, but people like me with fat fingers that mis key a lot it can be frustrating to make accidental calls. aosp does the same stuff, just not as quick to search.

so I have been really liking this rom, I may have to try handcent again. I am also getting pretty bad battery life. tho I have used the phone a lot. I had my my email checking every 15 minutes - oops. but is there a way to set email to check for longer then every hour? or do I need to use another app?

what kernels have you guys been using with this? or where can I find some aosp kernel?

do you have a link to the gps fix? I will probably still be switching back to sense today. just because I am going to drive across 2 mountain ranges this week and I want my phone to be running a rom that I know inside and out. and that my friends can track me in latitude accurately as we go ;-)

Check my signature for some links to aosp kernels both the savage Zen I am using with this rom and the page for other choices. The fix I'm pretty sure is flashing to a sense rom and doing a ##gpsclrx#. It does just what it says GPS clear. Then flash back to aosp. Doesn't work for everyone though. Pretty sure there is an app in market you can download to get correct GPS position. I just heard of someone using it don't actually know. Would be interesting to know though.

Edit: may be GPS status and toolbox that Guy was talking about it has a Gps reset feature built in and some other stuff.

yep, I found gps status before your edit. it lets your clear gps data and cache. I think you can set it to clear on a schedule.

I went from 6 blocks off to half a building off. thats pretty good for being inside :)
