Hey Josh, sorry I haven't had a chance to research, do you know if there are any bugs with floating windows lately?? The last two stable builds floating windows aren't working As expected for me. Example: if I enable halo and get a text and click on the bubble, the floating window opens but it sends the current app to the home screen.

At first I thought it was a halo issue and tried heads up as an alternative but the sane thing happens. The floating window opens on top of the home screen, requiring me to open the other app I was using after my reply.

Not a huge issue, but renders the feature useless as I could just tap the notification and reopen the app I was using afterward.

I always clean flash the stable builds. So yes to that question. As for mods, I altered the max volume via build prop and I have viper audio installed. No xposed framework or other mods. No alternate kernel. Using smart launcher as my home screen but seems odd that would be the issue..

Any thoughts, bud??? If not don't break your back. I only enable halo sometimes. Depends on what I'm doing. It's a handy feature when I need it but definitely not a deal breaker for me.

Edit:
Oddly enough if I open a recent app in floating mode via the recent apps screen, it will float on top of the current app. It just will not work via halo and heads up...

Hadn't heard of any issues with Halo/HeadsUp. I'll ask the guys to see if they've stumbled across it. I don't use any of the "multitasking" features, so I can't say firsthand.

Using the new test build a couple of hours with the new kernel-- didn't flash Franco. So far it is very good. No percentage drop with the screen off. Using FKU rather that Trickster to make settings. They seem to hold fine. System monitor shows min and max holding fine. Fast and silky smooth, as always, but I think battery life is really improved with this version of the kernel. I usually head back to Franco. So far, this is great.

Any way to disable floating window? Google Chrome ALWAYS launches in floating window mode and I can't disable it.
What build? I've never had floating windows load by default and I've been on DU forever. So either it's a new test build feature or you enabled it. Not sure how to even enable that feature as I've oddly never seen it.

I implemented a bunch of efficiency commits for the cpu, smp, etc.. which should help with battery life, but not alter performance. So far so good, I'd say.

I think that's a Chrome Beta feature.

A quick question if I may..............

I have read many articles about the new Nexus 6 and 9 but have not seen any info about this.
Will the new 6 and 9 have boot loaders that can be unlocked as the 5 does? I know there are a lot of people that are making assumptions that they will but we are talking Motorola, HTC, and VZW here and the history is not all that great for these types.

Thanks

That won't be a problem if you buy the device directly through Google play

They are Nexus devices... that's really all you need to know. ;)

Just installed Android 5.0 on my Nexus 7 (2013). Looks and acts very well :)
One thing I have noticed right away is the battery usage. It is awesome. Uses very little compared to the 4.4.4 Kit Kat that was on it. Would NOT recommend using it for a daily driver though.
Can not wait for NYCHitman1 to get it working with DU so I can flash it to my N5 !!!

Source hasn't been released yet, so nothing is being done until then.

In other news, OP has been updated to latest stable. This is our last release for KitKat.

I've been running the latest DU Official stable build since its release and I figured I'd also give out Franco kernel r63 a try and see how it ran on the latest DU stable.
Ran Franco kernel for a couple days... Plenty enough time for it to settle in and and reach peak performance.
Although while on r63 I was experiencing pretty heavy/massive battery drain while on r63. (I know Franco hasn't been updated in a while) So I reflashed the DU official 8.1 build again and just stayed with Josh's kernel included in the build and my battery life since switching back has been excellent!! :)
Thanks for the Great work Josh!

Edit:
Curious to know if anyone else has experienced the Battery drain issue on Franco r63 as well on the 8.1 build? Or is it an isolated issue that I'm having... Maybe it's time for a "Clean" install tonight. ;)
I've also had an occasional issue with the keyboard not showing up on when trying to type.

Actually, I tried both Josh's and r63 and stayed with r63 because on my setup it gave me much better battery performance, particularly in the passive drain (screen off but radios on) department. I actually found Josh's kernel in the test build just before the 8.1 stable build to be better than the stable, don't know why. By the way, I did a rare clean flash on the stable 8.1 version. Maybe that's where I went wrong. :p  :D
