Root [ROM] DroidSmith_Force - Beta

Hey, JimSmith:

When Jellybean goes OTA for the Force, will we be able to upgrade without a problem through DroidSmith?

Edit: or is there any chance of Jellybean sooner? Jellybean completes me. Lmao.

Not usually no. If your using CWM and have removed stock system apps it will give you an error 7 when trying to update. You would have to put the stock recovery and stock Rom back on in order to do the OTA update

Even with latest my screen only rotates for a short bit after rebooting....and them its spotty at best until I reboot again.

I had the same issue and i just rewiped the dalvic and it has been working great since, try that and see if it fixes it for you i know it did for me I hope that helps you out :smokingsomb:

Not a clue. I'm just going to try to make the best out of what we have until there is an ota, or mouse and junkie get the bugs out of cm.

Hey Jim, when I try to download the newest version, I'm getting a 4.9 version zip. Is this available yet, or the file was just overwritten and renamed? What is the date of the 4.12 update?

this is what it is called.....

some pieces of apps are stored in other places. like if you go in settings and go to more under wifi and bluetooth you are still using settings.apk but that particular menu is in phone.apk so deleting phone.apk will cause settings to crash entering that menu

basically im saying that by deleting the voicemail app you probably broke it

kool. yea i hate things like that but the only alternative is to change the calls and put it into settings itself. can be done but not for the faint hearted

It may be a bad download. I've been running it since a day before it was posted, and haven't had any issues. Is anyone else having similar problems?

I'll get it ironed out. All of the feed back really helps. Thanks guys

Hey Jim. What was changed from 9 to 14? I looked through the thread and couldn't find anything, Atleast via af app. Sorry to be a pain. I just wanna know if the differences are worth doing a full backup and reinstalling everything back to normal, since I don't have the paid version of Titanium. Figured I'd wait until a big difference is released, but can you enlighten me? If it's worth the hassle, I'll wanna do it first thing in the morning. Sorry to be a pain but things aren't as pretty on this app as it is on the computer. Lol.

The objective of DroidSmith is to be a minimalist and stable rom for the ZTE Force. This rom is in Beta testing, and user input is highly valued. If you see something you would like changed, or know of a feature you would like added please let me know.

Future Plans for DroidSmith on the Force:

1) Improved Busybox functionality. - Done

2) Purging all of the bloat ware. Some of this is already done.

3) Face Lock... The APK is in the system. Lets use it

4) Init.d support - Done

5) DoridSmith Theme work

6) Infrastructure Wifi hotspot..... This may take a while. It took me a long time to bring this feature to the warp

Version 0.1 - Deodexed stock rom, cut out bloat, and replaced super su with Superuser.

Version 0.1.1 - First attempt at system tethering - This will be shelved until i have the device.

Version 0.2 - Removed tethering mods. They did not work. New battery indicator. Launcher2 replaced by Xperia Home.

Version 0.2.1 - Second attempt at a custom boot animation. Faceunlock should work now. Connections Optimizer removed form settings menu.

Version 0.2.2 - Boot animation now works correctly. Connections Optimizer has been removed from the removed from the settings menu. A new approach to getting Face Unlock to work has been taken using chevanlol360's work from the sequent. Edits made to the updater script to allow installation on to the data partition.

Version 0.2.3 same as above attempted to correct error in updater script for data partition

Version 0.2.4 removed data partition info from updater script.

Version 0.3.5 Init.d support added in kernel ramdisk as it should be. Thanks Junkie2100 for your assistance with the ramdisk issue I was having. init.d script added to enable both cpu cores on boot. Added MiFiles to system apps.

Version 0.3.10 Fixed init.d

Version 0.4.9 Now running Matrix Kernel. OC to 1.67. Lionheart, Badass, and SmartassV2 governors added. Faceunlock has been completely removed. CPU speed and DPI changer added to settings menu.

Version 0.4.14 Updated Matrix Kernel L2 is synced to CPU for OC speeds. Restored download and voice mail apps.

What's Jim working on now?
I am currently in the process of developing Matrix Kernel for the Force. It is based on the ZTE Avid source code which has been slightly tweaked for use on the Force. The current build of the kernel is completely working, but still lagging behind the stock kernel a little. Once the performance is comparable to stock it will be added to DroidSmith and released a zip will be released so that the kernel may be used with any rom. I don't intend to stop there. I plan on making Matrix Kernel out perform the stock Kernel. If you would like to view the source code it is located on my github here - https://github.com/jimsmith80/Matrix_Force

Installation Instructions:
Prerequisites: You must have a custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP) installed to be able to load this ROM. DroidSmith is not for all versions of the ZTE Warp, only Boost Mobile customers. A version for Public Mobile is not available.

1. Download the most recent version from the download center above to your SD card.
2. Reboot into recovery.
3.
Make a complete backup of your device!!

install from zip (CWM) or Install (TWRP) option to navigate to where you saved the DroidSmith ROM on your SD card and select it.
5. When the installer script finishes, reboot your phone.
