I was able to flash previous versions of dsf too, I think this issue started with the last release or the release before that. Don't quite remember.
Have thenew matrix kernel installed v1.1 and I'm not having any rotation issues yet...
I wouldn't recommend using any battery saving apps, there's no point to them, and I wouldn't install any cpu tools, dsf already comes with menus equipped to control the important parts of the CPU.

Can you link me an older version of dsf? I wanna try flashing to an older version then upgrade.

Flashing from stock ROM I still get the same problem where on boot it freezes at the boot animation. Just to make sure, it couldn't be the recovery I'm using if I've been able to flash every other ROM fine, right?
But I successfully flashed previous ROMs/kernels.
0.4.9 was the last ROM to work for me.
But why are other people able to flash it fine and not me?
