Going to give this a go. Cronos is beginning to annoy me, it's a bit unstable and needs updating every other bloody second.

Brilliant. This seems about as stable as a cripple on stilts. Can't even set up my Google account without the whole thing force closing.
Will try to sort it out when I wake up tomorrow.

V1.6 seems very stable to me.

Very sadly, it seems that Ele is not going to be continuing with the ROM for the time being due to a falling out yesterday with Feeyo. I hope he will keep the current links active but I would advise if you would like to give this awesome ROM a go to download it now before it's gone.

Feeyo has said he's quitting for good over this too. Let's hope they both get over it or we're not going to have any more devs left....

I kinda already knew the Hero would die on gingerbread but VR is still standing lol, at least it was kept going for 2 years. Should be dead by the end of this year since only like one person in VR still has a Hero I hear. We've probably squeezed as much life out the Hero as possible anyway, only thing left to do would be to fix bugs and clean up. Oh well....

Hero's clearly on it's last legs anyway; there isn't much more that could be done for it considering the hardware limitations, even Gingerbread seems to be a major chore for it at times.

I trust you did a full wipe of everything?

Aye, clean wipe, everything. Just kept force closing everything when I tried to set it up, go to Market, the launcher only lasted about a minute before giving up. Had to go back to my Sense backup but will try a fresh d/l and install tonight, might of been something untoward when I downloaded it or something.

Dammit! What a crock of bull.... :(

I hope he will keep the current links active

If not I can soon get them up.... I've got all the 7.0.0 releases, 6.2.0RC0 (SpeedMachine V2) and 2.2.1-Final plus themes.

Might be getting a bit off topic here but what exactly went on between Elelinux and Feeyo that made Elelinux quit on the Hero?

Looks like Elelinux was trying to accuse Feeyo of stealing some shit before Freeyo kindly pointed out that Ele's releases coincidently came out a day after his. Looked like a bit of big geek breakdown between the two to be honest.

Why can't we all say google developed it and get along :( Doesn't really seem like a good reason to quit (haters are everywhere) but hey , what do I know.

I don't want the flak spilling over from XDA to here, so all I'll say is that this is some way wide of the mark. There's a lot more to it than that, much of which should have been buried six feet under long ago.

Ooohhh.... what a pretty nice ROM. Great job here, yes, really great.... uhmmm.... but.... it's really a DIFFERENT ROM? Uhmmm.... let me show you something about it and Cronos Ginger :P

Anyone tried "elelinux" his memleak patch? As I am seeing good comments about it on his thread.

At least I am happy he is giving me credit.....

something said from Feeyo to Elelinux in cronosproject forum.....

Feeyo said:
First of all why do all your roms have my libraries installed and they are released a day after I release my builds?
You do not need to be an einstein to understand it.

uuuppppsssss......

You can find that here. Take a look with your eyes and read what Feeyo and Elelinux said.
Elelinux steal Feeyo's work and put it inside his "new" roms :(
Thanks to this..... Feeyo STOPPED HIS WORK! :( This was his last sentence:
"Sorry to say guys, I am officially stopping my releases. I have had it now for real."

Not quite sure why you posted this, especially given my previous quoted comment. However, seeing as you went on to post this....

Elelinux steal Feeyo's work and put it inside his "new" roms :(
....I suggest that you get your facts straight before attempting to start flame wars. Go read this post by Feeyo in his own forum.

Changelog 2011-03-30

Version 1.7

  • Updated the source
  • New build 20110330.203239
  • Bump to RC4
  • Lots of updates in the source and fixes "Thanks to cm guy's and AOSP
    biggrin.gif
    "
  • Unfortunately I have not done so much myself, because of all the tests I have been doing during the week, md5 checksum compiled 32bit vs 64 bit and compared, etc. ...
  • Updated gapps to the latest "still lite version"

v. 1.7.1 already!

anyone else get weird messages when connecting to a PC with USB? something about a large number of SMS messages being sent - text overlaid ontop of the android robot over the button to turn on USB drive? In the pulldown menu the USB also looks like random symbol characters.

uploaded a couple of pics about what i mean. first the pull down shade and then the screen that shows when you select USB

just seems a bit odd, as i can't see where else that kind of message would come from!?!

Something's not right, as that "Default" should read "USB connected".

Try a wipe of the cache + dalvik-cache from recovery and see if that fixes it after a reboot. If not I'd suggest a full wipe.

Yes I read about this issue with incorrect notifications in 'the big thread'. There are some local language issues, what language are you using?

Not sure if this comment was related to that:

BTW, have added on the first post a latinime patch, hopefully you guyś how have trouble with some strange letters and stuff this will fix it for you.

But I would give that patch a try anyway.

:EDIT:
Hmm, I can't actually see what patch he was referring to. I'd suggest posting with the issue in the big thread on XDA to see if there was a fix. Make sure you have done a complete wipe and fresh install to see if the problem still occurs before you do that though.

cheers, yeah i've only done cache and dalvik cache wipes since v.1.2. running absolutely bog standard english - haven't ever selected a different language.

will post on xda root thread when i'm allowed to! annoying thing about needing 10 posts to be allowed to post to the root thread.

will try a complete wipe first - when i can bear to start from scratch again....

Sometimes things are quicker than a slug ;)

I couldn't flash the new release until I got home from work last night, and I always test to see that the ROM works as expected before encouraging others to d/l and install it. ;)

Having said that, v1.9 is working fine here - no problems noted.

Changelog 2011-04-17

Version 2.0

EDIT: Unfortunately it seems that it will be wipe of everything to make it work

Installation Wipe of cache and dalvik cache, if you come from previous version.
Hope that any way, cyanogen added a database verifier, but removed it again

New installation wipe of all

The bug in the test version for cpu load was my own,was the new testsettings for the GPS

  • New Build 20110415.224211
  • Lots of updates language etc
  • Lots of small fixes
  • Many test compilations how to build to avoid the famous bug
  • Adding a patch for the bug for thoose who want it
  • This build is by default for smooth an fast animations etc.. if you turn off all animations and so probably does not the bug occur , but if the bug would occur then the flash patch
--------------------------------------------------
Note: a factory reset (full wipe) is mandatory for this release. Wiping only cache + dalvik-cache and flashing over the previous release WILL result in a failure to boot. You have been warned!

That said, V2.0 seems more responsive than V1.9. Battery useage and performance is as good as previous versions - 83% remaining after six hours use in the stock configuration i.e. everything enabled and overclocked 691/19 using the smartass governor.
