Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

It's an official LG Gingerbread ROM. It may be easier to port this, or elements from it, to get GB working correctly on our model is my guess.

Hey man I flashed a froyo rom to test some kernel shit and I tried out some gps stuff. My weather widget and google in the browser both could not get a location with the gps hardware turned off so I assumed the agps just functions to use recent locations and doesnt actually get your location from towers. It functioned the same as the gingerbread rom :/

AGPS works a couple different ways, but mainly your AGPS will use a downloaded "network list" list to better assist using the towers closest to you as points of triangulation. The more information it has the better the location traking will be.

I would go so far as to say that if any wifi stations(your router and public) still has the same ESSID and mac as when google was mapping your town. that information will be used as well.

Hey everyone, first off thanks to reppard and to everyone who has helped get this rom working. im definitely liking it :) Im pretty new here but i think i noticed a bug so i thought i would share it so someone can work on a fix.

It seems that when you are in the lock screen you can simply press the far left menu button and it will skip past the lock screen. If you set a pattern, pin, etc... then this isnt an issue but if you have the security set to "none" then this could lead you to pocket dialing or something.

this rom rocks out loud. having a bit of an issue with the lockscreen but ill get over that. only been running this for a few hours now. ill give it some time to let it sink in but i think ima be sticking with this for a while...

Seems that is a recurring theme with this ROM because I saw comments like yours in the Ascend forums too.
I too saw that on the Ascend with CM7 but it was because the phone's MAC address had been changed after flashing. I failed to notice that detail and it wasn't in the distro notes.
I use MAC filtering so I took me about an hour to finally figure out that I needed to change the MAC addy in the filter list to match the phone's.

I am surprised that the mac address would change, that is hardware specific.
I too use mac addy filtering I have not had any problems with mine, I am not running the cm7 any longer, but I never changed any settings on my router to run cm7.

Well, I tried it, and the first thing I noticed is that even with disabling the screen-on and screen-off animations, this rom proved to be unreliable in terms of the display properly coming back up (the lamp would turn on but that's it) when i press the power button to wake it up. most attempts it took several tries, and a few i had to just pull the battery out and put it back in so i could start it up and use the screen. i've wiped and im restoring back to what i had before.

Dood you gotta run a live wallpaper too.

Screen on/off animations both turned OFF. and use a live wallpaper.

Been running cm7 as a daily driver since it came out. It's not unusable, only glitch that bugs me is the lag rotating the screen, but if you reboot once a day it's not so bad.

lol well okay i was planning on using one anyway, but that's quite odd. i did turn off both the screen ani's but didn't set up a live wallpaper yet. i may try it again then. i just had such a hard time getting the phone to wake up where it seemed impractical. thx.

if you disable animations and set live wallpaper before the screen times out the first time your fine. there is a trick to getting the screen on otherwise posted somewhere in this thread...

Darn it.

In my quest to get bluetooth, I flashed this rom and the fix for mms. Now when ever I make a call the screen goes black - I still have volume, but I can't do anything else. I have turned off animations and have a live wallpaper (grass).

I dial a number, the phone vibrates, and then the screen goes black (backlight is on). And I can't get back to a screen.

What's up with that?????????????????

is your finger over the sensor in the left hand corner of the phone cause it goes black when in calls and when phone goes near ear .
