Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

i tested this so far and have found these features to be working and not working

Working:
Phone/network connection
text messages
camera
Themes
Graphics*
music & dsp audio manager
GPS*
EMF sensor
data
gyro sensor (full 360 through cyanogen)
bluetooth*
wifi

Not Working:
MMS
USB
TRRS Connections*

The Asterisks:

Graphics - The GPU isn't running at full potential, im thinking that the optimus V had a different driver for the graphics than the M has, im not 100% sure on that but it could be a possibility, the screen still blacks out on unlock and cyano-animations are not possible.

GPS - the gps took a while to find me at first, it located me in the wrong area, but after about a min it worked :D

Bluetooth - I've tested the bluetooth, as far as connectivity goes i can pair with most things, my mono headset doesn't work with it though, i can make calls and the buttons work (volume up, down, and calls) but audio does not come out at times and when it does its all distorted. Bluetooth printing does work, but im not sure if it was my printer or not, the file printed with an overlay of blue wherever there was white space.

TRRS Connections - This is the headset audio, i personally have the apple in ear headphones with remote and mic, they roughly worked on 2.2.1 but it was per music player. in this rom its not noticing even the mic. i have no other headsets to test this out any further myself though. :O

i'll look into these further though and i'll see what all i can update you on :)

Not yet ill update it soon though. I'd like to pack more than one fix in an update as tethering my phone is the only internet I have at the moment. I will say this though I was suprised at metros upload speed it only took about an hours and a half to up this rom last night ;)

Thank you very much for the very detailed rundown! I don't have the means to test everything but I'll fix what I can. I think the graphics issue can be fixed with reworking some libs but I didn't want to mess around to much cause I acrually saw better performance than using stock. I don't really know what's up with the GPS but when you first run maps after a fresh install its always wrong but it always kicks back it. Maybe something to do with mock location?

For people just trying the Rom for first time remeber to click menu button, go to settings>cyanogenmod settings>display> screen on and screen off animations get turned off
and also set a live wallpaper so it wont have a Black screen when locked

I tried flashing the MMS, but that didn't work. The Virgin Mobile banner is no longer there, but the pics from the messaging still won't download.
 
So GPS worked when I first flashed this yesterday afternoon. Now it is not locating me correctly at all. It says I'm in North Carolina when I am really in New Jersey haha. Just a heads up. I've tried restarts and just letting the GPS find me again but it still is not locating me correctly.

Yeah it puts me in north Carolina too when I live in Georgia. So weird I will look into it.

Thanks, I think I will wait for this gps issue to be worked out first, definatly the deal breaker for me.
I'd like to help out if I can but this is my first android device, I am however not a stranger to Linux, if there is anything I can do to help let me know where to start...
 
Mine puts me in north carolina as well. Great rom but i have to go back to 2.2 till that gps issue gets worked out. I use Lookout security and if i ever misplace my phone it helps me locate it since i always have it on silent.
 
I have had problems putting some things on the phone like gmail won't install. I got swype on finally. Battery life isn't great. Love the speed of the rom. Not many more problems except as listed.
 
my gps is working fine..a little slow on locating at first but i tested it at work yesterday a few times and i was on point..aside,like stated,usb storage works if your in recovery..but easiest fix is just download WEBSHARING off the market.just transfer via wifi network.the lockscreen is fine,just as soon as you hit the unlock button just start sliding and it works like a charm.

now i tried the MMS fix..i actually tried 2 out of the 3 choices..i didnt try the froyo zip cuz were obviously not running froyo..but i had no success.now im stuck with "ROAMING INDICATOR OFF" instead of "VIRGIN MOBILE" lol :)

BUT WHO GIVES A 5H!T!!WE GOT CM7 ON THE OPTIMUS M! WOOT WOOT!

i seen that :) i cant wait for an update! if this ROM becomes FULLY functional its gonna be an epic day..lol but im satisfied with this ROM as is..i mean,MMS isnt as important to me as theming.but i would be nice to have both.im wondering if there is a way to send audio using CM7 for THIS phone.cuz my evo has CM7 and its a stable version and it cannot send audio.when i FIRST flashed it and tried it,IT WORKED..then after a few minutes it didnt ever work again..that leaves me asking questions..lol
 
the market is on this rom. i noticed that if you don't download the roms with internet explorer the size of the roms become different when downloaded.
 
What i have noticed about the GPS is that if i try using it in maps its slow but eventually it does find my location, but when trying to use the wifi locate within 3rd party apps it shows me in north carolina.
 
i got market and gmail working on mine..BUT IS ANYONE ELSE NOTICING THERES LIKE NO SIGNAL SHOWING..i can get calls and texts fine but it pretty much always shows no signal..im not getting any dropped calls or text message fails...weird..
 
I use my phone alot and I use MMS alot, would love to see a full working version of this in the future. Great Job to reppard and Joniedy for getting this thing off the ground!
 
I think I might have the GPS issue worked out...still needs to be tested more. Mass storage is working great. Just gotta get mms working and we've got our first update. Thank you everyone for testing this and reporting bugs. Also thanks for not trashing it, it is a work in progress. It wasn't exactly easy getting all that stuff working ;) I don't know for sure but it seems to me whoever started trying to.port this just ripped the kernel out or a 2.2.1 rom and added it to the cmod7 rom...which was a very good idea. Just needed to make everything fit right. I am thinking though, that it would b possible to actually get a true optimistic v OC kernel ported to this device
 
as far as updating goes, wouldn't it be easier to release an update.zip with the files and script to replace what needs to be, instead of upping the whole rom again? i mean for new flashers it would be kind of a hassle but since you don't have a strong net connection other than your phone it would be good bandwidth wise :)
