Root [ROM] GB-CMod7-Beta

the rom supports the a2sd.. the swap is something that goes along with the a2sd script.. my swap doesnt work either.. not sure if it was enabled int he script setting, depends on the version of the script as well, but its a preference thing really.. u can have more swap available.. but unless you have a class 10 or higher sd card it will most likely slow ur phone down.. havent tested it myself.. but the memory in ur phone is alot faster than any sd card u can get

When it comes to Linux you typically want a swap partition equal to the amount of physical memory you have but on phones with android there doesn't seem to be much benefit at all and seems to actually hinder performance.

I have noticed a few bugs, some have been mentioned by other users. but I'm going to try a complete wipe and reinstall and see if it does any better.

bugs are as follows:

1. sometimes the market doesnt load pages, stuck at loading screen, have to kill app and restart app for it to work.

2. I use an app called SatelliteAR. and it uses the magnetometer to show you locations of satellites in the sky, however, it does not detect the gps or wifi as being on so it doesnt work.

3. Google Sky Map: doesnt work correctly. my best guess is an issue with the magnetometer.

4. I have a few compass apps. and only one works partially correctly. again, another magnetometer issue.

5. Buttons at the bottom of the phone, Menu, home, etc does not light up.

6. Sometimes it takes forever for the orientation sensor to kick in when changing from portrait to landscape or vice versa.

7. At first, I was unable to modify contents on my sd card. but unmounting and remounting the card fixed this.

8. Root explorer doesnt work and I cannot update from Market.

9. When receiving a phone call the phone acts up and doesnt show the screen or who is calling and I end up missing the call because the lock screen comes up first instead of the incoming call screen.

I think that is all for now. if I find more, I'll post them. Also, I was able to install Reppards overclock kernel and it works great, I am able to overclock and underclock as I was able to in the Sense Rom.

One last thing, Much love and props to Reppard for porting this over. even with the above bugs and issues it is still and awesome ROM. and I'll never go back to 2.2

Hey Reppard is this ROM more stable with ext2? Or can I go ahead and upgrade to ext3/ext4.

I've been looking for the splash image and can't find it...I wanna lose the LG logo and replace it with my own. Can anyone help with this. (my image is already converted I just need the path and correct filename)

Phone won't vibrate when I receive a text message :(

Edit: Nevermind, defaults are set wrong, in the messaging app you have to go to Settings>Notification settings> Vibrate> default was never, should be only when silent by default.....

Edit: Navigation thinks I'm in Virginia when I'm in Florida, definitely need to be worked on..

Ya gotta clear the data for maps and reinstall the update.....afterwords download a compass from the market and use it to recalibrate your magnetometer...

Heres a little problem.
Due to metro screwing me out of a payment. And not letting me reset my payment date i ended up canceling my account and opening a new one with a new number.
YOU CANNOT! access the programming menu with this rom.

So i had to reflash to romzero..program the phone..now im in the process of going back to this rom..

I just figured that out, Thanks

Hey if you download the latest gapps from cyanogenmod.com and flash with the rom.. e.g, flash rom,, then flash gapps, then reboot for first load, the gps will work 100% first try.. no finding you in a dif state.. no clearing the cache..

Not true tripdoc79,
as i stated earlier thats how i got my google apps to work but it still shows me in NC occasioanly.

thats strange.. lol.. kinda funny how some things work for some people and not for others.. the hardware is the same for everyone.. and yet.. not all works for everyone.. i personally havent had any issues with gps or anything really since reflashing this rom.. its so almost perfect.. ive flashed my backup back to it probably about 50 times or more in the last week after trying to fix the audio issue int he android kitchen.. heh.. working on trying to get a AOSP gb rom compiled for this phone with the help of reppard.. make a little bit of progress everyday.. but its slow going as of the moment.. trying to learn all this.. only way is to jump right in and figure it out lol..

Where do we go on the afore mentioned site to get the latest gapps?

Once again this is an awesome rom, i've been a PROUD beta tester since day 1! (: Looking forward to CM7 getting out beta and unleashing its true potential ;D

I was wondering if anyone else had the problem of the phone not vibrating when it is on silent mode. I can't seem to get it to do so for notifications and/or vibrate instead of ringing. I've read the previous post and made sure that my settings are correct. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

i havent noticed it not vibrating in silent mode.. try settings> sound, always vibrate.. and then go to text messaging and hit the menu button and check always vibrate in htere as well.. and for email.. open gmail or email or both and check the settins there as well

Ah ha I got it thanks man. The problem was in the text messaging settings, sorry for being an idiot. I didn't realize I needed to change that setting. Many thanks!
