Root [ROM] GingerSteem Extreme II for the LG Esteem MS910

Was very excited at the new zvc root. I upgraded back to zvc. just to install this rom.

i then installed this room. saw the boot screen then saw the first window after it loaded and i was like what in the hell. i figured i had flashed the wrong rom. so i went back and did it again. and yet the same result.


for anyone wondering this rom is nothing like the first GSE. i really wish there would of been screen shots. i dont think i would of went through the trouble.


with that said. is there any chance we can get the kernel from this rom. and flash it over the gse 1 rom. so we can have all the greatness of gse1 with the kernel from gse2 ?

and as someone else stated. i too had the wifi issue after installing the newest version of this rom.

I have flashed my backup of gse1.5 over the zvc update. i havnt not noticed any side effects yet. of course all ive done was turn the phone on.

the wifi issue is most likely due the the wifi module, I will check it out n fix once I get my new battery.

Far as the other, you mean the appearance? If so you can always flash a theme, I choose not to put a full blown them on this one since everyone wanted sumtin different. And if I just did it to my likes it would be all black lol

I will work on getting my zvb version of the kernel up to speed with the zvc version. ;)

awesome. i personally liked the theme on the first version. i tried some of the other themes and they just werent the same.

i will say that im running the first version for a clockwork back up that i made before i upgraded back to zvb. and so far there is 0 issues with it running. but id love to get my hands on just the kernel from the version 2 release of this room.

the only thing id really like to see extra is the screen shot features that were found in cm7 but im sure as time goes along cool features will be added after stability and the such

Apparently my phone doesn't like anything kanaida makes. It fc's his esteem optimizer app( and just it, nothing else). I tried his kernel for better battery, and it drained my battery twice as fast as regular plague kernel and performance dropped. Flashed v4 GSE-C with kanaida's tweaks in the kernel and same thing happened only much worse. Dropped 426 points on benchmark and couldn't play starfox 64 as well as i used to. So had to switch back to 2.2 kernel. Does anyone have any idea why my phone rejects the tweaks?

it may be possible that your device is attracted to devices of the 'same' sex!!! :D im going to edit this later...
 
I have been using the LDK-ICK v1.4 for a few days now and so far it's just perfect for me. I oc it to 1.9Ghz and i can get about 10-12 hours out of the battery using the free version of 2x Battery (I use Rhapsody and Open Garden every day, used to get like 4 hour of battery before). The only problem that I had is that ones I flashed it I wasn't able to install apps, but you just have to go back to recovery and wipe data, easy fix, after that, no more issues. Now I can sit and wait for ICS to come to Metro (maybe one day I'll wake up from that dream). I just wanna say thanks to all of you guys for all the help!!!:D

glad to see the android keyboard in this one... had to get rid of the swype on the older version as i'm not a fan... been using the ics keyboard from market, pretty sweet :)

very well be diff hw but it should be that big a difference tho. :confused:
 
I don't really use alot of widgets...but i've noticed that there are a few widgets in the system/app folder that don't show up if I long press a home screen. One of them is the lg calendar widget. I tried to use the package installer to install it, but it wouldn't install. Sooooo i tried using terminal emulator and typing chmod 644 system/app/CalendarWidget.apk then rebooting and it still didn't show up when i long pressed a home screen. Its not that big of a deal to me bit i'm just wondering why?
 
There is something wrong with wifi in v 0.4. PG will fix it soon. The 0.2 version still works fine if you have it. I am using 0.2 until he fixes it :)

And on the wifi issue, dunno, I did a wipe, flashed, booted, enabled wifi, and connected. ;)
 
is everyone that is having issues with wifi on zvb? is anyone on zvc having issues? if it's b only then i guess we know what we have to do, ha ha...
 
ZVC... That confused me for quite some time until some of fellow Esteemites made some eye opening comments. For clarification, to move from ZVB to ZVC I need to run the AIO again? If that isn't the trick, what do I need to read to get an understanding of upgrading?
