Root [ROM] GummyJAR 2.5 - 12/28/10

Installed 2.5 today, Thank you. One question, how come I can not link my Facebook contacts with existing contacts? please help. btw love the new boot screen! Oh and thank you for fixing the lock screen issue, lol I have a lot of girls always trying to go in my phone!

I flashed GJ last night. All I have to say is WwwwwOW! This rom is the best blurless rom available. It's really zippy and veeeeery stable.

Newbies: If you want a blurless rom, try this! Of course, not to mitigate my cudos, there are other wonderful roms out there. Fissiono. Fantastic too, but GJ is faster.

My personal favorite is ApeX, as I need my slight blur fix! :)

Kudos to the dev of GJ. Amazing!

Yep.

Really, if you're using an Android phone, and you aren't using Google Contacts to manage your contacts, you're losing out on a really great function.

Whatever anyone is doing now for their contacts, migrate them over to Google Contacts. No Backup Assistant, no manually backing up/restoring contacts... Just plug your Google information in and boom, all contacts will be there. You can add them on the computer and they'll OTA sync to the phone. You can add them on the phone and they'll sync to the computer. It's beautiful.

I agree with you, Google Contacts is great and works flawlessly for me except for one thing.

I have not found an app or process to enable backing up a custom ringtone for a contact.

It is a royal PITA to restore the custom ringtones after flashing all of these roms.

Any ideas how to do this successfully? Is there an app for this that I am actually not finding?

Have you tried backing up the system settings with Titanium Backup?

I haven't tried that as my phone is 99.99% of the time set to vibrate-only so I don't even know what my regular ringtone is, let alone custom ones for certain people :D

I don't see the whole deal with wanting blur-less. The blur alarm is better as is the blur dialer, because it has smart dial. To each his own though. (I'm a Sense UI lover too). Seriously, if you are a no blur person, you gotta try this brother, k?

Steven, I never had any problems with blur what-so-ever. I could never understand what everyone's beef with blur was. I just thought anyone who constantly slammed blur had a personal vendetta against Motorola or something....

Then I flashed Ultimate Droid.

The pure speed of that ROM combined with the fact that it was basically a blurless ROM got me to feeling rather unfavorably towards blur. Since then the ROMs I've tried only reinforce those opinions. The more blur a ROM keeps, the slower my phone seems to run on it. The less blur included, the faster it seems to run. This is only my experience mind you, but I would presume that some of the others who seek out blurless ROMs probably have had similar experiences with their devices as I have.

Also, I experienced the exact same problems with BackUp Assistant, where it only saved about 22 out of probably 100 contacts... what is up with that stupid program anyhow? I kinda wondered if they were the 20 contacts I had in the phone before I rooted, and it won't save any contacts you save on a rooted device or what?

At any rate I too saved all my contacts in with Google contacts, but I couldn't figure out how to synch them automatically? So I had to do them all manually (which pretty much sucked), but at least they are in there for good now. I've flashed 4 or 5 different ROMs since then, and my contacts are always there afterwards even though Backup Assistant still only shows 22 contacts! :P

Alarm clock plus puts it to shame..

Does anybody know what happened to the wallpaper in the screen shot in the original post? It seems to have gotten removed and I really enjoyed it.

EDIT: I really want to use this ROM, but for some reason after I restore my text messages using SMS Backup+, the ROM turns slow, buggy, and unusable. I don't know WHY it happens, since every other ROM I've tried (TranQ, Apex, and Fission) all work just fine, but it's terrible. Does anyone have any ideas? The ROM FLIES until I restore texts.

i love this rom but the only problem i have i with the camera. the stock camera has alot more settings. Is there something i am missing or am i just crazy?

hey i downloaded the swype addon but i am having a hard time finding the zip file on bootstrap. any help? i have droid x

Does anyone have an issue with GPS? Google Nav cant seem to lock on to satellites/ keeps checking navigation availability??? I havent had this issue on Apex 1.3.1 but it seems that Fission and GJ reproduce it for me everytime... any ideas?

Two ways to fix it - you either go into the google maps application and clear data and cache, and it should work then.

The way I fixed it was to start Maps (not navigation), then put it in an address to get directions. Once the directions come up, choose Navigate To in the menu. For some reason, that made Navigation work and from then on, every time I start Navigation, it works fine.

I am about ready to install this ROM! This will be my first and in the install instructions there is a statement about not installing custom themes or a boot loop will happen. Does that me that the themes that I D/L for ADW will no longer work?

I don't think it includes themes for apps, but don't quote me on that. I flashed this (2.5) a few days ago and have the themes on my Go SMS running just fine. But don't take my word for it, I'd hate to see you brick your phone over my advice.

i dont know what i did wrong but i cant get my phone to reboot. When i turn it on it gets stuck on the screen that has the motorola M. Please help. Did i brick my phone? The only way i can even get the M is if it is plugged in to the wall.

every thing was running fine then i downloaded the camera and swype then i installed them both in recovery and turned phone on. it worked for two hours then shut off and hasnt gotten back since. i tried holding the home key and power key but nothing happens.

I'm not 100% sure you have to do that while adding apk's, I just knew I had to do it before installing Watermark.
