Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

I didnt install the old fork, just the rom, gnow, and gapp.
it is more like a text render problem...
Yeah, I'm getting that occasionally too.

BSyds, yeah I ended up doing that except I used online version-- should I use the off line version? I am getting a message to update but Play says it's not compatible with my phone. Anything worthwhile in the update? Anyway to install it?
Thanks everyone for the feedback, I have not been able to track down the text rendering issue, I searched and found that it is an old CM9 bug, and the only solutions were to enable the hold back to kill app, in developers options. I know it had to be something I pulled in from CM9 but just not sure yet.

matt832, you'll have to look at the Google Now for ICS page for the differences, but I'm pretty sure they are not planning on updating it as it was intended for JB.

Not sure if I'm the only one, I'm still noticing an issue with Google Maps/Navigation. They work fine, really good actually. But every time I restart my phone they no longer work at all. I get stuck on the loading screen until the phone eventually gives up, asking to close the unresponsive app.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I also tried to reconnect to wifi afterwards and my phone got stuck on stupid and froze up. Tried switching profiles or in/out of airplane mode, but only way to fix it was a reboot.

Right now my workaround is to just remember to delete/reinstall Maps after a reboot; it seems to work fine again.
I have seen this but haven't spent any time on the GPS yet. I know it kills a bunch of system processes like, I was using adb logcat to watch the stream as the nav app froze and the logs just stopped, then there was a notification from no-frills that the settings were not able to set cause of an unclean shutdown. That message only appears after a random reboot or you use an app that quick boots instead of a proper reboot. So I am thinking it is to do with the GPS either kernel or system related. So this is on the to do list but will take some time.

This new version with front camera working, if I take a photo with the rear camera with the standard camera app, it's a normal photo (not panoramic) right?

The first camera fix only did panoramic.

Auto focus works too correct?
The camera completely works for still pictures, just video is not working now.

Trying to edit the icons in the Dock and I removed the default messaging app but I cannot place a new (Go SMS Pro) app in there. Am I missing something? Using the stock launcher that came with the ROM.
I don't know what's happening, I just removed the contacts icon and replaced it with gmail. I also removed the mms and just put it back. Just long press the icon you want to remove and drag it to the x at the top of the screen, then open the app drawer and long press the app you want and wait for the home screen to appear and drop it where you want it.

I tried that about 15 times and the icon would disappear, almost like I'm deleting it. I just tried it again and it worked no problem. Oh well, thanks for the reply!!! :D

Forgive me for the IT Crowd (dig that show :) ) resonse, as I'm sure you already did this but... have you tried turning if off and on again?

This happened to me as well, before my first reboot. I was setting everything up all at once and noticed it, but figured that playing with settings and restoring apps would require a restart in order for everything to take effect correctly. Especially if there's any change to the UI/DPI settings, as these require a reboot to fully take. After the first reboot the problem went away for me. Haven't gotten it since.

Hey guys great work on the camera updates, having one small bug(?) I switched from CM9 with the gaming kernel to the latest release and my 3G data seems to be dropping, and MMS messages are having issues sending and receiving. I reflashed from stock and same issues. I've always seen better speeds/reliability in CM9 from CM7 roms but did something change in the PRL?

I don't know about 3G right now cause I've been home on Wi-Fi but I haven't had any problem sending or recieving MMS thru the stock texting app.But I remember PA had 3G drop issue if you didn't have Wi-Fi turned on.

So far this is the best ROM I've used on the MT. It runs smoother than CM9 and has FFC.
The only issues I've had is that battery life seems worse (it may not be), and that weird text glitch everyone is having (Photo Album - Imgur). I have also seen the tiling glitch that we used to get in CM9, but very rarely.

4/17 tester: 3G and MMS running top notch. I even have Google Now which is running smoothly. You can't pick your sports teams but I'll take what I can get.

Flashing a ROM can't change prl.

wow! this is a great rom for sure. I'm all restored.
Great job and camera takes photos much quicker than Froyo ever did.

Any idea why I can't find the google voice search app? It says its installed.

edit nevermind, if anyone needs it:

  1. Download QuickShortcutMaker at Play
  2. Click on the Activities tab
  3. In the Input keyword to filter box put: Voice
  4. Select Voice Search
  5. There's a few Voice Search options, you'll want the 2nd one

I tried that but no help. I always restart after installing a new ROM, it just seems to make all feature work. Actually restarted a few times :D. It works now and I think I was drawing the icon too low. I let it go just at the top of the dock and it seems to work fine.

The "auto screen brightness" works WAY better (actually works) on this ROM than the stock Froyo.

I have not had any font corruption issues yet.

Anyone with a triumph should be running this rom imo.

ok just saw the font corruption in the google market, then i scrolled and it went away.

Also my GPS locks much faster than froyo ever did.

The first time I ever ran it with this rom, it took 25 seconds to lock.
If I reboot it takes about 10-15 seconds to lock.
if I DON'T reboot, but turn off gps, then later turn it on, it locks instantly.

NICE!!

I'm looking forward to trying this ROM sometime this week. I'm still running CM7 2012-10-15 version, and am looking forward to having CM9 with a working camera and other improvements. I've been thinking about getting a newer phone to get the improvements (but then I would lose the $25 plan), but hopefully this ROM will keep me happy a while longer. Thanks for all the hard work.

ecarlson, I think you will be happy with your Triumph on this rom.
It is like getting a new phone. I almost upgraded to the evo, but
have no desire to now with this rom. It's that awesome.

A few things I noticed in the settings area. If you try to go into the imput settings, to like change a keyboad it FCs and it also FCs if you try to manage an app from settings.

Other than that...and the whole text scramble deal...I'm loving this Rom!!

What is FC?

I'm interested in the v6 supercharger also that wildplace mentioned.
The triumph could use all the help it can get with the 512mb of memory
it has.

Anyone else have a problem where when receiving a call, the accept call and hang up icons are off screen? How do I fix that?

Just had someone call me.

I see the phone circle in the middle but no indication of which direction answers and which hangs up.

is it right = answer
left = hang up?

Same problem. I can still answer it, but the circle is slightly uncentered to the right

Just mess around with the Phone app DPI. Go to settings < Paranoid Settings < List of apps < ALL. Then you can individually change the DPI to any app you like. I like to change in increments of 5 until I find what I like.

ah. I've not had any force closes.

I did run the v6 supercharger. my Triumph is more snappy/responsive now.
It was easy to do.

I've just now figured out a lot of the UI sizes default to tablet type and not phone type. I was wondering why everything was so small.

I kinda liked the "settings" in tablet style though...everything seen on the screen instead of scrolling, but you almost need fingers the size of tooth picks to work it.
