Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

Can't wait for the updated touchscreen drivers! There's been times when I swipe in Temple Run and the phone simply doesn't sense it...I used the pointer location overlay to confirm this as well.

agreed. I've noticed touches don't register some times. a bit annoying, but very glad its being addressed.

will we be able to just flash the new kernel without having to re-install re-setup everything when its done?

ok so this is new for me, i'm running this rom and when I'm check voice mail none of the keys seem to work though they do make a sound.

Says hit 7 to erase, I hit 7 key and I hear touch tone but voice mail doesn't erase.

what do I need to to fix that?

Ok ok. Here is a tester of the new kernel with the M410 touchscreen drivers. Still working on the ROM but figured I would get this out there for those of you that want to try it before the next ROM.

Hey BSydz so are there plans to integrate the V6 supercharger? Cause everyone here seems to be swearing by it so I'll just wait until (if) you integrate it to save myself work lol sorry!

You know some nights I just stare at the Motorola Triumph All Things Root page and remind myself how far these developers got us in 2013, we went from everything broken in CM7 to almost Jellybean fully working.
You guys deserve a prize, each and every one of you.

On the negative side it reminds me never to buy a Motorola phone in the rest of my life...

I could be way off, but I don't think it's a good idea since there are many customization options and some may or may not want certain things enabled, then they'd have to go run through it all again to adjust.

I provided download links and simplified the instructions on the previous pages in this thread if you want to run it.

is there a way to get the phone ui version of the settings menu? I like this rom but hate tablet ui on a phone

edit: PASettings are all set to PhoneUI

You might have to go into the individual apps and change it. Under PA settings, it's the bottom option... just look for settings and set to phoneUI (or default, if you set the defaults in the previous menu to phoneUI).

You need to change the dpi and UI for the Settings manually. Go to settings < Paranoid Settings < List of apps < ALL then look for Settings and change the UI and DPI there. There are other apps that you have to change manually, like the Phone app, Contacts.

I tried to install the v6 supercharger for the first time a couple days ago and It took like 10 minutes of answering questions in dos mode and it was very confusing. Then it asked if I wanted to manually add a component or automatically but it would only have full effect if it was added manually. I copied a couple files in which I thought it wanted and I couldn't open the keyboard to ok the install and accidentally closed out of it. I decided not to go through the 10 minutes of dos again and my phone is incredible slow now. I have to reboot it twice a day just to release the resources so its usable. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't finish it properly of if it's not compatible but it was very confusing and if you do it wrong you will ruin the rom.

GREAT JOB Bsydz!! I played around with this earlier today and I love the interface :):):) I'll be installing tonight or tomorrow and giving this an earnest test drive.

On this ROM, is there any way to switch the background color of the Messaging app from the default white to a black background (see attached screenshots) like on CM7? Or is the only option to go with a third-party SMS/MMS app? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I find the white background a little hard on the eyes.

Thanks in advance.

So I'm using the new kernel for the touch screen and it's working great. It's a little slow but it responds WAY better. Was moving the letters on words with friends with ease. Before I was having major issues that I would have to turn screen off then back on to fix it.Great work BSydz!

EDIT:BTW are you in Michigan BSydz?

Run the script again. When it prompts you for what option to run 1-33, run the one that removes v6 supercharger. It will restore your phone to previous state.

Just wanted to mention this in case it might help. I did not get the garbled text issue until yesterday when we were experiencing network issues with Virgin Mobile. My phone acted like it received multiple text messages, then all the fonts were messed up (and no new messages). A restart cleared up the garbled text, but VM's network was screwed up for most of last night.

Just flashed the new touch screen drivers and will post any issues I find, but so far so good, so thanks for that.

Is there an app that would place an indicator in the status bar that would indicate that the phone is working? Something similar to the hard drive LED on a PC.

Nice work on this ROM and the new drivers make the touch screen way more responsive!!! Thank You!!!

In CM7 there's option to indicate CPU load. may be in CM9s. Would that work?

That option is available with this ROM as well I believe, but the font is so small it's kinda useless.

It was worth a shot, I just like to know what makes my phone seem to be laggy at times (every once in a while) and it would be nice to see that its working or not. No big deal.

I also have an issue where my phone gets super laggy, pretty much frozen. It's usually when I turn the screen on, although happens very rarely.

Is there an easy way to put the original kernel back? I'd been using the 4-17-13 build and it was pretty much working perfectly, but since I've installed the new kernel, I've had two lockups/reboots and it seems like the garbled text was happening more frequently. The touchscreen improvements were really nice, though.

I installed this yesterday and have been running it for about 24 hours now with only a couple issues. The first is that twice within a couple hours of install I lost my 3G and went into Roaming in places where I normally have good coverage. Switching Airplane Mode on then back off did the trick the first time. The second time I didn't bother with Airplane Mode and just rebooted. Since then I have had no issues with the network, so I can't say if it was a problem with the ROM or VM's sometimes crappy coverage.

I also have a couple issues with the statusbar. I do like the style and appearance but I'm not crazy about having it on the bottom of the screen. When I set "Paranoid Settings >Statusbar style" to Phone UI it does display up top but in the "old" style. Is there any way to get the statusbar at the top of the screen while retaining the appearance and functionality it has in Tablet UI mode? Also, when set to Tablet UI mode, the AM/PM indicator does not display at all. When set to Small there's a little blank space next to the time where the AM/PM should be, and when set to Normal it doesn't display at all like when it's set to None. It's only a minor consideration, just something I got used to with my previous ROM.

Otherwise, this is a great ROM and I have had no stability issues at all so far. I don't take many videos with my phone so that's pretty much a non-issue for me but I love having a working camera AND ICS at the same time :) :) Keep up the good work, BSydz!

There are about ten different ways to replace the kernel you have. The best way may be to take the kernel (boot.img) from the ROM you loaded originally and move it to the kernel installer you loaded your current kernel with. I used WinRAR in Windows and the archiver that came with Ubuntu. Both have worked flawlessly for me.

If you aren't sure, holla back and we (the community) will help.
