Root [ROM/Kernel] Stock++

You don't need to use Odin anymore Odin is to get CWM on your phone... everything else is flashable through zip's... stock++ has a zip file the OC kernel is flashable... look around for the ones you need... I have them all in my dropbox... basically its very easy after cwm is on the phone...

I just wasn't sure if the CWM/Kernel that I put on for Cyogenmod was compatible with Stock++, and am not really clear on whether the "kernel' gets wiped away during the formatting of system, data, cache, as I suspect it does...

Just reflash the kernel it takes seconds LOL...

So I should first flash the "CM72RC1-Beta1-KernelCWM-requisite0" and then the ROM, then gapps... cool.

Is it recommended to format the sys/data/cache part's with CWM after the kernel flash but before the ROM flash, yes?

Yes and also wait 5 mins between after you flash the cache to let it build back up... helps market update to Google play...

:)

Ya I know I guess media fire hates me

Sometimes in order to download from mediafire, I have to right click on the download button and either select "Open in new tab," or "Save link as..." If you still can't download the zip, let me know and I'd post it for you on another share.

How do you Flash CWM Recovery and Kernel package? I am such a n00b. I have CMW 5.0.2.7 installed. I just wanna make sure I do everything right.

Read through a few of the links in this thread "Admire All Things Root Guide"

the CWM Recovery and Kernel package is a small (about 12mb) zip that you download to your sd card, and then from within CWM, you choose "install zip from card" and choose the file (the file name is "CM72RC1-Beta1-KernelCWM-requisite0") and you'll find it here, and there are links to it throughout many of the threads in this forum. If you look through the instructions on how to install CM7.2 (one of the three stickies) you'll read about it there, too.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! That is what I thought!

Went smooth as butter, and runs like a dream!

It will... i had it just download the Zip file load into CWM choose "mounts and storage" choose "Mount System"... then go back and choose "Install From Zip" find the beats audio file click it... then wait till its done and go back and choose "Reboot now"... the easiest way to see if it worked is too plug your phone into your charger that *BEEP* that lets you know its plug in is ALOT louder... i figured that out on my own :P

DONT FORGET TO MOUNT SYSTEM! :P

someone pleaseee help....... i flashed the stock++ rom on his thread but it wont work...... i have a different recovery than requisite0 but could that be the reason wy? if it is, can i please have some instructions on how to get rid of my recovery and flash req's?

Similiar, but not the same. The Kernel/CWM package is the same, but when you install Stock++ it overwrites the old kernel with the new kernel.

Here is my issue. Any rom I install has no data/wifi if I use Req's Beta1 CWM, however everything is stable like a rock. Now if I install Stock++ Kernel any rom I install crashes repeatadly, yet I get both data & wifi when it works for 10 minutes at a time. I've narrowed it down to the Stock++ OC Kernel being too fast for my chipset. Any word on a 800mhz kernel release of Stock++? I know 2 others that have had this issue...

Yes, I tried SetCPU. Even setting it lower than 800mhz crashes the phone. Thanks in advance.

Random question and i don't know if it's been answered yet. Can you use the cwm and kernel package by itself without installing another rom like admired monster or stock++?

I had the same question as well..
As I do not have this cell (VM Triumph & OV user here) however my GF has the Admire.
I have already rooted her cell & installed CWM however I would like to keep her cell stock but with an overclocked kernel if possible..

I may just make a new posting towards this subject as it's rather off subject in a way..
However any help for now would be greatly appreciated.

when i was re-flashing the kernel, I managed to get my phone into ram dump mode. should i pull the battery or do something else?
