Root [ROM]Leaked Stock 2.2 with Sense [EVERYTHING WORKS!!]

Since you have to wipe the device to install 2.2, can you use Titanium to backup all your files/settings before wiping, and then simply restore once 2.2 is installed? If so, is there anything you shouldn't restore from a Titanium backup (e.g. system files) once you install 2.2?

Absolutely no reason to restore old system files over a fresh, new system install. Only use Titanium Backup to restore 3rd Party Apps. Otherwise, you are asking for trouble IMO.

We have to wait for the .32 kernels to come out for Hydra. Otherwise GPS/Camcorder probably won't work, since the current hydra kernels are older than the one we are using here.

So, I have still had no luck with loading working kernels - before. I am interested in the undervolt kernel, but it kept making my phone reboot no matter which one I chose. Does it really make that much of a difference in the performance of the phone?

Thanks

i'm kinda with rushmore on this. like i said, ill wait till the 6th and only do this if i need to.

After skimming through the XDA thread, more people are having problems than not. Seems if this were really the leaked rom, people would not be having so many problems and again, we would also be seeing the "official" rom to download as well.

My guess is this is a beta rom that got leaked out and modded for rooters to try out. My advice is unless you like messing with installing and setting up everything and also having problems you did not expect- stay away from this rom.

I've been using this since last night (about 9PM - 2AM) and then from about 7AM-8AM, lol.. And I have not had a single issue so far! This thing is FAST, and PSX4Droid even runs games that it didn't before I updated to 2.2

Most of the issues that are occuring are caused by user error or people trying to flash a custom ROM for the first time that don't know what to do.. Thinking I may have to write up a really basic how-to guide..

this update is amazing, phone is super fast, so many new widgets I really like them and adobe flash 10.1 is present on it. Great way to start the day!

Thanks for the info Umikun!!!

Just so you know, to some of us it is obvious that this is a ROM for ROOTED phones, to others...not so much!

It is entirely up to you, but you may want to clarify that in the post. Especially with some of the trouble being seen over at XDA.

i kinda want to know why you have to update the radio, then update to froyo. if it was a true leak, shouldnt they be together already?

There is no guarantee that the official ota update won't require a wipe/factory reset. Some Android phones have required a factory reset to install carrier updates in the past. I think it comes down to how much is changed in the OS.

Curse yooouuuu!

Now I may probably have to take the plunge and go against my own advice.....

Rockstar, true dat- but there is more a chance than not ;)

BTW, sticking to my guns this is probably NOT from the official rom. If it is, it would be the first ever mod to leak to the public before the actual rom it is modded from. Still not adding up.

I can understand your point and you've stated excellent questions about why the radio wasn't packaged together and why they won't release a non-rooted update. But what's the harm in letting people play with the leak? No where in the original creators post does he state it's an official release.

does anyone know if chrome to phone will be available for download soon or what's the deal?
NM: I found it and it works great! I'm loving my phone even more now

Anyone having issues getting a home replacement to stay as the default? Mine goes back to sense when i hit home button no matter what..

UPDATE:
The OTA made a small improvement to my battery life, the 2.2 leak has made another small improvement to my battery life. One thing I used to notice is that with live wallpapers, my "Awake Time" was the same as my "Up time" and that is not the case anymore. "Awake Time" is about 12% now.

The phone is so much snappier now. There is virtually no lag I have seen. There are some apps which are now missing from store, but I think I will try that market fix posted ^^^

There are still some apps which fail when moving to SD card, but this is a fantastic feature. Cleared up about 40MB of memory with this. Would be nice if there were a "Move all available to SD" feature - but I am sure with the robust community of developers that someone will figure that out in like a week.

I have to say - it seems like the official update isn't far behind. Kudos to VZW for getting HTC to quicken up the process and push this out so quickly after the official release.

I feel like I purchased a new phone last night!

ive not trying to argue or anything. its cool he released it. i just like to ask questions before i just into something that might cause problems with my phone or brick it, and knowing that with the limited supply id be without a phone for a month it makes me nervous. they did say going back would be difficult with this.

again, it just doesnt make sense that to install this, we need to install another "leaked" update. its just plain weird. thats what makes me uneasy. if it was simple like put update.zip and update like the first ota, then i would be less leary about it. not saying what we have to do to get this going is hard, it is just perplexing why its done the way it is.

No harm at all :) Just a more clear statement of it's origins, so people that may prefer the official version do not take steps they may regret- for one reason or another.

The XDA thread implies this is from the official rom, but nothing really points to that being the case. This is probably pulled from a rooted test rom.

Again, if it were from the official rom, we would have seen that first and this would pop up afterwards (or same time, but not before). We would also not have to bridge a radio update.

That said, I am beginning to doubt the actual official release is as close as people are expecting- in spite of this rom release, or perhaps due to this rom release...

I wonder if this was purposely leaked by a more "official" source. Seems odd as mentioned previously that they only leaked 2.2 with root. Wonder if they want to make sure that only the hardcore install this and report back on issues, eliminating those that was the quick fix update.

It's a conspiracy I tell you! A conspiracy!!!

Exactly my point too ;)

It's just the ROM. The ROM would be a lot easier for an insider to leak than a full update package. The ROM does not include a radio update, but if it is made to work with the update you just have to do it first. ROMs can only be installed on rooted phones, and that's why you need root. This isn't that hard to understand.

My guess is that this is the latest release candidate to be tested and was leaked. If testing goes well, then we will see it on time just like we've been hearing.

didnt know thats how it worked. it makes more sense now. i still dont like it though. ill wait a week or 2 then see how things are. thanks for explaining it better how things work though. kinda new to android and i like to ask questions.

i cant help but think of this senerio though. we do this leak, then it runs great. they release it with a slightly higher build number, but same radio. reapply the radio and brick like the evo...

My guess too. Makes the most sense, but the release is still appreciated :)

People are reporting that Google Voice is missing from the rom. Perhaps not a later test rom- if true. Summary (edit: some of the issues reported- not all).

1. Some Google apps missing
2. Some market apps missing
3. Mail account problems
4. Some apps will not update

All of these issues would suggest the rom is from a test rom and not the official release for publication.

Even with the PSX game improvements, I will probably hold off for the real deal.

Agree on holding off. If it's not perfect, and will in any way prevent you from getting the official, there's no real incentive for someone who wants 2.2 early to install.
