Root [ROM] MidnightRom: Sense 1.5.4

New version is up!

Note: If you can't get superuser privileges for some reason, just run the SuperSU app and it'll fix it for ya ^_^

For the folks who are getting the random reboots, do take a look at the clock you're running it at - xthedakmanx includes a utility which lets you turn down the clockspeed.

I have been having good luck with kernel 3.2.3 on the 1.2.2 release of this rom, then adding in the loopysmoothness tweaks in init.d and also disabling sweep2wake, which I suspect is responsible for some of the pocket powerons we're hearing about?

I'm also undervolted by about 90 mv to save battery.

To get access to different, compatible kernels you need to sign up for an account at anthrax-kernels.us , then post once in the n00b forum. Once you've done that, your login will let you see the download threads in the forums, and you can mix and match kernels with midnight rom. Since all of the kernels are still beta, definitely worht trying until you find the one which works best for you.

4ext with smartflash seems to work fine for flashing those, though I see posts suggesting they don't.

Were did you got loopsysmoothness tweak at ?

I don't know I have a bad download or something else but I flash 1.2.4 and the overclock is not set to 1.29ghz and superu binaries are not updated

Every time I flash a ROM update my CPU is clock to 1.5 GHz. I always just reset it to 1.35 xondemand

How can I disable the sweep2wake
go to system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh and edit that file. Go to the GPU section and change SWEEP2WAKE="2" to SWEEP2WAKE="0". I think I might actually take it out next release by default because it's been causing issues it seems.

So what's up with the wake of death?

Not sure. Happens to me from time to time. I'm working on it.

New version uploading right now. Should be up within the hour.

1.2.5 8/30/2012 (Latest)
MD5:972a82ac4707359418aa39305ef28a9e

-Update to kernel version 3.2.7
-Fixed the default CPU speed. Sorry guys!
-Disabled sweep2wake. Was causing too many problems.
-Fixed supersu being lame and not working right

Known issues: Sometimes you will get a random wake of death. Not sure why though. It's being worked on

Sorry it's taking soo long. I was having an issue with supersu that i was trying to fix.

ok no problem. What are the main differences between 1.2.4 and 1.2.5? Is 1.2.5 more stable? Would I be able to just wipe cache and dalvik cache then flash 1.2.4 over 1.2.5? What is the random wake of death about and how is it fixed? A battery pull?

1.2.5 basically has fixes for the cpu being overclocked to 1.5 ghz by default, turning off sweep2wake because it was causing problems, and fixing supersu issues. It should be more stable, yes.

The wake of death is basically you try to wake up your phone and unlock it, but it freezes and reboots. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is kind of annoying.

Hi,

I am S-ON, and planning to try flashing this with 4EXT. So, I would:

1. From Recovery/Wipe Menu: Check all, including "Dalvik, Cache, and Data|Factory Reset"?
2. Choose Recovery/Install zip from sdcard
3. Add the MidnightRom125.zip (latest)
4. Choose install now?

Is that right?

What will I be missing with S-ON using this ROM? But it won't break it though, right?

Thanks a bunch!

Well, since you're using 4EXT, you can just "Superwipe EXT4 (all partitions)" And itll do it for ya ^_^ It'll leave your sd card alone though, so no worries on that part!

Since you have S-ON, be sure you have the "S-ON: 4EXT SmartFlash" option checked in the settings. This will make sure that EVERYTHING get's flashed like it should ^_^

Good to hear!
Yes for both. Both times at the lock screen or right after unlocking the phone.
Yeaaaa. It's still an issue. >_< I haven't had it happen to me on 1.2.5 yet though. It may be fixed
