Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03

Using JuiceDefender (Pro, not that that matters) I can usually go 2 days on a charge, including the 12-28 build.

Funny, JuiceDefender worked great when I was using the stock ROM, but it absolutely KILLED my battery once I switched to CM7. When I first switched to CM7 I was wondering what all the hullabaloo was, because I was getting like 4-5 hours per charge. I uninstalled JD, and immediately the battery started giving me 18-19 hours without any other modification.

dsmryder: Between the time I asked you to clarify your response and you responding, I installed a data widget from Play that basically does the same thing. It's been almost 12 hours on this charge, and I sitting on 91% of my battery left. That's pretty impressive, although kind of a big pain in the ass to have data disabled all the time (it kind of defeats the purpose of FB Messenger, which I use as a kind of SMS replacement for my overseas friends). At any rate, it's obviously the data that's draining the phone. I'll report back if anything interesting happens.

My main question still stands, though: is the 0223 build good enough for everyday use? I'm a big user of Wi-Fi, and it takes around 20 seconds to connect (versus my GF's new Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, which is almost instant). I'd sure like to cut the Wi-Fi connect time in half if I could.

CM9 2-23 seems to be hit or miss. Add the fact that it's in heavy development and you have a recipe for disasiter. You could always try it, but I am still running CM7 on about 10-30.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I'm referring to the CM7 02130224 build mentioned in post #1470.

And for those of you keeping score at home, my phone has been up for 20h 12m 42s and is at 83% battery life.

Oh, yeah. The 2-24 CM7 build should be just fine. chairshot reworked the init.triumph.rc for some improvements. I asked him to redo the first post for an almost final build. CM7 has proven to be very stable as I have had over 200 hours on my personal phone and my wife's phone doesn't reboot on it's own anymore. She just doesn't alway make it to the end of the day before she runs out of battery life. And yes, she leaves her data on.

Going to update the Op at some point today but need to run some errands also so figure I may as well save some time and list the changes why compiling. Nothing all that new, most had been used in the last Starship update after X-mas and the last 2 test builds that had been posted.

is there some way i can add an speed dial feature without running an third party app all the time like dialer one?

I can't remember the last time I used the stock dialer. If I'm correct, it would have to be built into the app itself. Maybe one day, if I find time I'll mess with this. But until then I'm going to keep playing with ICS.

I would stick with the dialers from the market. If you grabbged one from another phone there may be function calls that aren't supported on our phone. On that note, if you do grab another dialer report back will ya?

I'm going to post it with the rest of the CM7 ROMs. And how simple it is to port over the new SU will depend on how long it takes me to post the second one.

And this one I'll be testing myself. We'll see:D

I haven't tried that build yet, but my husband has, and reports "no more than I was having before" when asked about camera trouble.

README:
This ROM is Cyanogen Mod 7.2.0 and is developed by MTDEV.

THANKS:
Special thanks go out to IssacJ, Tickerguy, Mantera & Whyzor for breaking ground on Source Code Development for the Motorola Triumph! With out the their hard work and efforts, none of this would be possible.

VIDEO PLAY BACK
Thanks to Izzard for recommending MX Player. The app bases specific media to be played from either HW or Software decoding in the new version. VitalPlayer also works extremely well.

KNOWN ISSUES
∙ Camera rear video recording clicks during auto focus adding noise to recording
∙ Deep Sleep mode does not work with WiFi or Bluetooth enabled
∙ HDMI does not work
∙ Flicker when watching videos in portrait

I've heard about this. It makes me wonder about the charger you are using. I've had my wife's and my phone for over a year and a half. I still charge our phones works same cables we've had almost since I bought the phones.

On a more constructive note. I heard that someone got theirs fixed at a local mall.

I had this exact same issue on my phone. Had to reload the ROM after doing factory reset, wipe dalvik, plus I mounted and formatted /system. (I know, the ROM load does it, too.) For some reason this corrected my problem.

I had reloaded with normal wipes several times beforehand and the phone FC'd on me every single time. Possibly doing the /system mount & format is like a full format versus a quick format, don't know, but this cleared out the screwed up piece of stray code that was FC'ng the phone for me.

Hope this helps.

I think that was a build prop fix. If it was, I would think it's still there.

If referring to the lines Isaak had added back in the day G60 later found after removing that his data was noticeably faster, yes the those lines had never been added into any of the the MTDEV builds.

http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/581002-all-fix-your-3g-speed-now-please-read.html

If referring to the lines in the ow so should be updated build.prop tweak thread in the data section.

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...-performance-tweaks-updated-04-14-2012-a.html

Had never been included in any of the MTDEV builds. They do actually make an improvement but at the cost of some serious battery drainage so never thought the trade was worth adding the lines personally. Finding the same lines in just about every Evo Rom I have tried and finding the same effect so have been removing them before flashing. Otherwise found they do make a decent difference in data speeds but would be prepared to spend a little extra time on the charger if used.

My very first flash ever didn't work out all that well and TG suggested I format /system and flash again so in the probably now 500 flashes since I have made doing so part of my normal flashing process and for the most part never experience bugs other than those that are known. Not sure if it really has much to do with it but either way have become a fan. Just need to remember that if you don't wipe data which you should but I know whether its admitted or not allot of users don't you will need to remember to flash gapps again after flashing the Rom if you do format /system.

possibly a stupid question especially since it might be in the wrong place. but we can do the format in the recovery right? I think I need to format the data and system.

is there anything we need to stay away from when we format?
I recall a post where someone had formatted the internal memory thinking it was the sd card and that was pretty much a brick.

You should do all of your flashing in recovery. Do not use a PC to format your phone!!!
Doing so will almost ensure you have a dead phone.
The recoveries that we have, except for one or two are pretty safe. There was something that you could do that hosed someone's phone in the beginning of the MT sceen.

I flashed the 11/12 version and now realize a newest version released. I have alot apps installed. Can i get flash this new rom without of wipe all the apps? how can i do so

If there are no major changes in the permissions or any other major changes then all you need to do is a cache and dalvik cache wipe then install the newest one normally. That way you will save all data, apps, texts, ect. Now if there are changes that are major then download Titanium backup from Google Play store to back up your apps because you will need to do full wipe. That's all I can say you can wait for someone that worked on the ROMs to tell you if you can just do the simple wipe or if you need to do the full wipe.
