Root [ROM] Nov-13 MeanROM ICS v6.3 | 2.13.651.1 | Mods | Batt saver | OC 1.7 Ghz

I am on 1.7 I think, can I flash to this new one or do I have to do a full wipe? I already flashed the new radios.

I see I have to update twrp as well,,should not be too bad.

You can always do a nandroid and try dirty wiping it (only dalvik cache & cache). If you run into issues just do a full wipe and then flash.

ok cool..thats what I want to do..just making sure..thanks.

Edit : so far it is working fine...this ROM is awesome..Google now is not doing much besides weather and location updates so far.

Loving that he did the menu button tweaks for me and freed up the screen real estate..nicely done.

so far now is giving me the dodgers score/next game, travel time to my gf's parent's house (cuz we just went out there this weekend), travel time to our softball field, and pick-up times at the bus stop outside my apartment.

it can't post status updates to twitter/facebook yet, though

Changelog:

2.8

Changes:
New version of Google Now fixes UI glitches (credit the Google Now for ICS project: links in this thread)
Message app mods: screen on with new SMS (credit SteelH), secure folder, block, etc.
Updated OC voltages allow higher overclocking and better battery life with stock kernel (1.7 and 1.8 Ghz flashes included - see post 3)
Updated framework for better compatibility with OC kernels

Files updated:
\system\build.prop
\system\app\Message+CRC_2.apk
\system\app\Velvet.apk
\system\etc\init.qcom.post_boot.sh
\system\framework\framework.jar
\sdcard\MeanROM-ICS\overclock-1809.zip (added)

of course mikey includes kernel support because I just finished changing over all the postboot script's cpu tweaks over to work with enoch.

he probably did it better, anyway

Someone said they needed something to flash?

Changelog:

2.9

Changes:
Full press of camera button to wake phone
Updated OC settings so that more people can run 1.7 and 1.8 Ghz without changing settings
Fixed bug in 1.7 and 1.8 Ghz flashable ZIPs
Flashable ZIP included to keep screen OFF with new incoming SMS

I do like the fact that I can wake the phone up with the camera button on 2.9, I haven't checked out google now on it yet.

I am impressed that the current voice search seems to be fairly robust, in terms of the amount of background noise it can overcome and still recognize my search.

quick question: I have never had to flash a nandroid (knock on wood), does it restore all data (ex-apps, layout, folders, data, etc...)?

Thanks

Good now is more than just the voice search. Asking it Siri-like questions isnt the whole thing.

It will notify you when you need to leave for a meeting in order to get there on time, tell you how traffic is automatically on the way to and from work, inform you of the weather, ect.

Google now gives you these cards in your notification drop down at relevant moments

To find it on the phone though, you go into the app drawer and call up the voice search app. Then, when you are in it, you go to menu and you have the option to turn Google Now on or off with a slider at the top of the page.

V3.0 is out and I am downloading right now. The funny thing is that up to 2.9 I was just trying to keep up with all the updates and almost annoyed with their frequency, but when it took almost a week for 3.0 to come out I found myself waiting and wanting a new update Ahhhahhaha (fickle I guess).

At any rate I was wondering how the OTA will work, I have my OTA scheduler turned off and am wondering if I need to turn it on or what.

Thanks.
