Root [ROM] Nov-13 MeanROM ICS v6.3 | 2.13.651.1 | Mods | Batt saver | OC 1.7 Ghz

I wish the OTA updater would just download the changed files. My WIFI at my new place is way too slow to download 550-600MB files in any decent amount of time.

It still takes me about half an hour to download CM10 at 130MB :eek:
 
Finally took the plunge and updated twrp, firmware and Meanrom to 3.7 last night... So far it seems like it is a worthwhile upgrade. Everything seems really solid.

that's definitely not part of 3.7, and I highly doubt he would do that. He might've said that he would do that for himself because he's having ringer issues while roaming, but that seems pretty silly to force everybody onto the corporate prl to only fix his problem, particularly when he tends to throw all 'controversial' tweaks into an optional zip. also, I'm not sure you can build the prl into the rom, can you? and anyway even if he does you can just go to system update prl and get 25006 back

mean will not be overclocked again until somebody cracks the new kernel. it does still have the optional 'force dual-cpu while phone is awake' built in though

Long press volume to skip tracks (credit one_love_420 and metalhead8816)
Exchange mail security disabled (credit TommyB231: Tommy thanked me too... did we create an infinite thanks loop?)
Elevated launcher priority so you no longer have to press home key to get rid of the dialer on boot
Elevated priority of SuperUser, Google framework, and other important tasks: saves battery due to less task killing

Installation notes:
s-on people: OK to dirty flash to this latest version without flashing kernel separately IF you were previously running 3.5 or newer since there have been no changes to the kernel since 3.5.

Fixed android.process.acore errors
Fixed ringtone bug in stock ROM: custom ringtones (per contact) now working
Improved camera focusing via the half shutter press
Fixed capacitive button lights so they are consistent
Added new user settings to turn off screen-on-with-new-SMS and control capacitive button light brightness (see post 3)
Updated core apps: Gmail and Voicemail
 
hmm here is an interesting one. I wanted to come back to mean so i downloaded the latest zip and flashed the kernel ( im s-on unfortunetely) and then i wiped clean and flashed superwipe and then the rom. I first noticed that for whatever reason the email app wasnt there.. then when i installed titanium backup it didnt show up anywhere. Not on my homescreens not in my app tray. and when i tried to launch it directly from the play store the only option was uninstall. Im re wiping everything and im going to flash it over again. Just thought i would share this and see what you guys think.

awesome that fixes that! and i found out why titanium didnt show in my app drawer. I installed the pro key.. without the free version. It wont work without both i forgot about that

You should only need to download and install the free version from now on. Give it a try next time you flash a ROM. It remembers you purchased it;)
 
does the rosie to keep the screen off with incoming txts still exist? i found the 4x5 rosie which i enabled. ( love it ) but i cant seem to find the screen of with txt rosie?

OK, cool. I cant stand it when the screen turns on with incoming things bc im not always able to get to the phone and i dont want the screen on using battery. Hopefully it will be there soon. knowing mike it will be. Will i have to reflash the whole rom when its there or will it be its own zip file?

OK im starting to pull my hair out over the screen coming on with txts. lol i hope mike adds it soon : )
 
It was a zip in the MeanIcs folder previously.

He may have 3.9 out before you see it though. :p

Just letting you know though, i flashed it a few times and it never seemed to take for me...

yeah when i was running 3.2 all them years ago ( a week ago ) lmao it had it as a rosie and boy was i happy to see it. The screen turning on is just downright anoyyingggg. I was so happy stock to see that it didnt do it. But anyways your probably right. The next version probably will be out by then haha. I wonder why he doesnt just add it in with each version?
 
have you tried pulling the stock messaging app from another rom and pushing it over the one mikey includes? I don't know it the screen on tweak is something in a system file or if it's a tweak inside the app iteself, but if ut's the app you should be able to get rid of it

hmm idk. In the stock rom the screen doesnt come on. so mike must have made it come on that way. How would i go about doing that.... pulling it from a different rom?
 
yeah. if you have the stock rom zip on your computer or sd card or whatever, you can extract the files (or use 7zip), then go to system/app and grab message+CRC_2.apk and either adb push it to your phone's system/app or use a file explorer to paste it in there. fix the permissions (rw-r-r) reboot and it should go away.

just checked the changelogs and it's definitely an apk tweak so this will work. the smali mod is found here [HOW-TO] [TEAM XPOSED] Enable screen on with new SMS/MMS - xda-developers
 
I noticed too that the Google wallet app has the " unsupported device". Crap up top. Before this was one of the only I thought that didn't have it. Even though it doesn't change anything. You can still use it. Just figured I'd say it. Lol
