Per a post of Captain Throwback, a while back, i have been adding, qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the build.prop file.

I like having the menus pop up from the bottom and that causes that to happen.

I haven't really been paying too much attention to the sweep2whatever functions but I wanted to try the phantom volume buttons and they wouldn't work. I wondered what the heck was up with that? turns out, adding that code above makes the sweep2's and phantom buttons inop!

can you give a quick description of what is needed to do that? I am not a fan the the sweep stuff but loved having the buttons remapped so I have a menu button.

Thanks Chris.

Sure. I am not sure what you mean about having a menu button there, but this is what I do.

I have root explorer, but I imagine the other file management apps would work the same way.

I open Root explorer, then I go into system, then long press build.prop and select Open in Text editor.

Then I scroll to the bottom of the file and add the following:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1

then I hit the back button, it asks if I want to save it, I do, it does so and makes a backup of the file.

Then I reboot the phone. Afterwards, when opening settings in most apps, like Play store for example, the pop up comes from the bottom. also, in 6.3, at least, the phantom vol buttons don't work, and neither do any of the sweeps that come on by default.

I think that in an earlier version the sweeps still did work, no way to check though.

Just go to menu>settings>system>hardware buttons. I'm on CM10 right now so I'm not 100% certain that's where it is and I can't verify. I know it's definitely under settings somewhere. On Sense ROMs it might just be menu>settings>buttons.

Yay stupid question time!

Is there a specific folder I am looking in because I dont see anything in my general settings menu.

I am always pleased when I get to sound like a NEWB :D

Question for the masses:

Because mean allows for you to flash dirty I havent done a full wipe in quite some time. I have noticed some performance issues of late and am wondering if maybe going old school (wipe data, cache and dalvik) like we did on the OG Evo might be a good idea. I know there is never any harm in doing so but do you think it is necessary every so often?

You can flash dirty for almost any ROM update. You could do it on the og evo as well. Devs will usually tell you to always clean wipe because they want good bug reports.

The general rule is:

if you experience bugs always do a clean wipe and reflash before reporting problems to the devs

With MeanROM I did a clean install every 5 versions. I mean at 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 and so on. Just my personal practice. I know bugs can develop over time so I figured a good clean install every once in a while might be helpful.

Has anyone had an issue with only a few ringtones and notification sounds showing up when you go to select one for say like your email or text messages or anything else where you would be able to select a sound for something?

It is possible that the Developer has taken a lot of the ringtones out of the Rom. I've seen that before.

You can find new ones on the Zedge app and they will go with you from Rom to Rom. It's very handy.

I know they were in the ROM zip...I even added some extra ones that I had made to the ROM zip before I flashed it, they are just not showing up.

i love zedge. i use most of my ringtones and notifaction from it.

where are you putting them? what folder?

Yup, there is only like 2 or 3 choices when I get the option to pick a sound.

I am putting them right into the actual folder for notifications, ringtones and alarms inside the ROMs zip

so you are just dropping them in the zip file and then flashing the rom? how exactly are you doing this?

Yup, that is exactly how I am doing it. Just dragging them and dropping them into the ROM zip file so that they show up in the same list as all of the other ringtones, notifications, and alarms when you are able to choose one, I have done this many times on ROMs for my old EVO.

I can't figure this out for the life of me...when I go to choose a ringtone the only three options I get are Default, Silent and Facebook Pop. Does the EVO LTE not use mp3 file formats for the tones? Is that maybe why the phone is not finding them?

ok not sure if those ringtones will stick like that. have you tried and just put them on the card? or maybe once the rom is flashed then move it to the system/media partition.
