Root [ROM] OMGB v7 1/20/2011 Gingerbread 2.3

unable to get bluetooth to connect with SYNC in my pickup. Videocam starts music player. No weather abilities. Otherwise phenomenal speed and ease of use.

But next time I'll do installs via appbrain and play around. BTW, Swype didn't work for me, said something about wrong device. Location was ok but some other weirdness with my Touchdown email syncing. No FB contacts sync for me either, but I could probably tweak it so it would work.

I had to uninstall swype and the installer, then redownload from the website.
 
love this rom. went from shadowrom 2.2 to this and WOW. i got quad scores on shadow up to 1800 but i only get high 1500 with this new setup BUT the internet, youtube and everything else is SO MUCH FASTER than shadow. this 2.3 android is FLYING. only thing i have that dont work is the video recorder. camera works but no go on the video part. bluetooth works just fine same with nav. as soon as they get the video part to work, this will be the last rom i may need. super nice.

Honestly the best I've ever had, even beats MIUI for me.
I've tried nearly every rom out there for at least a week.
My battery is at least 10% better than what I had on MIUI and maybe 20% to 30% better than I had on stock unrooted.

still no recording, the only other issue I've noticed is what apps are compatible but I'm sure that will improve the longer gingerbread is in the wild.
The only app that I'm really wishing would work is the weather channel.

Me to I miss weather bug and bank of america. Can't wait for video recording to get fixed

Guys, you really should keep checking my posts!

Yes video is still not working, but there are easy workarounds/fixes for some other issues!

inline- both of those apps work (I have them running on mine) if you install gapps!

Flashed the new market and it keeps FC'in for me... I tried to wipe cache? anybody know how to fix it?

lol i was just about to install this since you didnt add what zip file to download. not sure if i need the 74.mb zip or just the 16mb gapp zip.

Which cache did you clear?

This is what I would suggest:

1. Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All --- Go to Market and Clear Cache and Force Stop it.

***Do not Clear Data. just cache!

2. Reboot into recovery, clear dalvik cache and then install the zip

Let me know if it works!!

Agreed. Battery life on gingerbread is almost miraculous and its finally made the phone liveable. Let's hope they keep plugging away at this thing!

It is the best I've ever seen with invisiblek's #18 kernel which is what comes with omgb6. I'm using the TP2 1500mah battery for $14 from ebay.

It's been a long time since I've timed my battery usage, but it just so happens I was testing out different kernels with omgb this past week. After using #18 for the last 3 days and wiping battery stats 3 days ago I got 37 hours 30 minutes on my last charge.

This is with lower than my typical usage, but: screen on for 3 hours, voice calls 60 min, surfing web for 90 minutes, 80 sms messages, wifi on 34 of those 37 hours, took 5 pictures. I have hotmail and weather syncing every hour, along with google mail, calender, and contacts. Also facebook contact sync (no live feed) every 24 hours. Always on mobile data is enabled.

I'm very pleased. When I run a typical day I get ~24 hours. I do love the battery usage stats in ginger! Notice my "phone signal" not much green there yet I'm solid on calls.

I just found out what happened to my install.

I didn't see an answer yet on XDA but I had to restore RR to get a functioning phone. I wasn't so worried about Swype, I figured I had to reinstall. FB sync was an issue for me as was weather and gps failures. I really did like the look of it but didn't have much time to play with the speed or check out battery life before the FCs trashed it. But this is one I will play around with at some point in the near future. It's just that RR with ADW EX is so darn stable for me now that it's hard to leave it. So I play with kernels and themes to quench my thirst for newness.
That screen off animation is second to none! I would flash this just for that alone.
 
I'll be flashing this rom this weekend. I tried two other gingerbread roms earlier releases and neither was stable enough. Sounds like this ones got it going

I might beat you to it. My fingers are getting itchy, I've actually reached for the phone a couple of times already. This snow and cold are a flashing environment. ;-)
 
well i did the gapps but i still cant seem to get weatherbug or bankofamerica apps. i cant even find them in the market. i really hope the video gets worked out as that would make this rom 1000000% perfect.
