Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

Yeah, the touchpal keyboard is from the stock triumph rom, I found that the return/enter button does not work, but I can't stand not having the slide-down symbols. Don't know why but the deodexed version that I just posted has the android keyboard, and all I did was deodex the rom and add the new gapps, camera, dbgcfgtool, and file browser from Mobstergunz. So that is the new recommended rom. I am not familiar with captcha, but my keyboard never runs away and hides on me. :D But now I am about to back up my mesages and stuff to migrate to the deodexed version. I suggest anybody running this rom do the same thing.

Edit: I use MyBackup Pro if anybody was wondering, the free or root versions should work, as long as you are restoring data from this rom. Only the pro lets you restore from different phones and technically this is now the Sharp SH8188u not the Triumph.

Edit 2: There are settings in Settings>Language & keyboard>Touchpal> Select languages & Ambiguous PinYin, that may help the keyboard issue.
 
I think we can say this ROM fixes gps. I can also get a lock in about 10 seconds inside my work building walls...and they're thick concrete. Nice ROM man!

Thanks, I'm lovin this rom and even though this is not gingerbread, it seems to crush the stock Triumph, and from some posts it looks like it is hanging in there with some of the gingerbread roms we have available. We'll see over time how this holds up.

This is the stock Sharp kernel it is untouched, That is why I was hinting to some of the guys to get some custom kernels for this.


Now, time to get to modding the shutdown options and adding status bar widgets.

I was just thinking, it would be funny if over time Virgin Mobile has no Triumphs on there network but have thousands of Sharp SH8188u's. :D

There's a 2.3.5 nbo for the sharp and I was thinking since this rom is fully working maybee we can port the 2.3.5 version with everything working.

maybe my assumption was that since we already had a 2.2 Rom it was just a matter of making some build.prop edits and swapping out some files with the Sharp Rom 2.2 Rom

I have been working on the Sharp 2.3.5 Rom for almost a month, it won't work yet because:

1. If you read the threads, the new kernel requires changing the baseband of the phone to work, i.e. You have to flash the whole nb0, that is why, I assume, tj_style made Ando-ID rc3 an nb0. I know that whatever is stored in our 3rd partition is one of the hurdles, but there is much more to it.
2. The drivers are built with that kernel, so using them is a headache.
3. There's a lot more but I am supposed to be testing this revision that Mobstergunz did so I can release it.

That is why I just decided to make the Sharp CM7 version. But, that was killing me cause CM7 is not yet fully functional. So while I had searched many times before for the Sharp 2.2 rom, I just found the nb0 a couple days ago. So then I made an update.zip for the Sharp 2.2, and modified some things to get a few things working and left it as bone stock as I felt acceptable, to give our devs a fresh plate to start with by not messing with anything else.
 
Just posted Mobstergunz revision, check out the op. I haven't tested everything but it seems to be fully functional, I'll post the edited build.prop, for those of you that want the thunder.prop changes.
 
I never use bluetooth and I just tried to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on. If somebody could report back if they are having the same issue, it would be much appreciated. I'll get on it as soon as I have a chance.

Try flashing Mobster Tweaks v5 since its using the build.prop i edited
 
Holy crap. I haven't updated yet but I tried the gps in my car and it locked on in literally 5 seconds or less with an accuracy of 6 feet from a cold lock.

Btw, can I just wipe caches when updating?
 
I'm downloading now but I was wondering if you guys put in the VM Activate app or if not, can I restore it through titanium backup?

This Rom doesn't have any VM apps since its a port of a Sharp Rom i don't think the Activate app would work anyway........ you can try though by moving the Activate apk into the system > app folder before you flash the Rom
 
It'd be nice if the lockscreen and notification menu didn't say Roaming Indicator Off lol

Overall I think this is my favorite ROM.

Thanks, be patient, this is only one and a half days old, I hate anything not working or out of place as much as the next.

There are a few issues but nothing is perfect. I will be trying to work out any hiccups as you guys post them, I can't test everything cause I don't use everything. But from the get, this rom kicked butt, so I had to share it with you guys as soon as I got it stable and running. Keep posting feedback so I, and anybody who wants to, can make this as stable of a base to use and work from as possible.

Which version are you using? I had just setup my deodexed version before you sent me the rev 2.1, so after testing I just restored my backup which I think has your tweaks v5 installed cause I see ADR6400L in about phone. I'll check this out.

Moving just the app definitely won't work, there is a file in system/lib that is named libssa.so, that will be needed too, at the very least. Also, you may need to change the build. prop to a Triumph for it to work, but I am not familiar with the actual activation process.

Edit: Also there are some files in the framework that refer to the activation process.

Not at all, I have just seen some threads get way out of control, and wanted to nip it in the butt. It wasn't directed entirely at you but more of a statement.

Edit: I have very thick skin so if something does rock my boat, you will definitely see it in my reply. I just like to be straight forward and as thorough as possible when I post something.

Im running the Rev 2.1 Rom with Mobster Tweaks v5

Edit: Rev 2.2 now i changed the 3g/1x icons to the gingerbread version
