Root [ROM] RomZeroFinal 4/3/2011 it's not over

Couldnt get it to download on the desktop but got it off the wifes laptop. Love the rom so far, thanks so much! The overclock is such a great feature, 729mhz and Im good to go =-)

A few quick questions:

Does flashing this ROM actually format the phone (not necessarily the SD card, but the phone itself)?

Does this ROM have full market support? And does the Amazon Appstore work?

Does GPS have full functionality? (Using the Navigon USA app, not Google Navigation)

Are there any issues with the ROM that still need to be worked out? (haven't seen any listed here really, just want to be sure)

Can I restore the phone back to stock using the LG Mobile Support tool without having to pull any recovery info from it before flashing to RomZero?

Thanks in advance!

Is that yes or no? I'm just asking because I know there is a difference between 2.1, 2.2 and 2.2.1 which I have.
This is for phones with 2.2. There is a RomZero for 2.2.1 but it does not have the ability to be overclocked.

Well after some internet issue, I see that we may get a Rom Zero III? If so maybe I'll wait it out. I have been considering changing up Roms of late.

It seems as though Asadullah will release another version. I'm looking forward to it. The other ROMs look fine and the people who cannot overclock are happy. I like the stability and flexibility of ROM Zero and I will not bother flashing anything else until a newer version of ROM Zero comes out or something that has the same properties comes out. I like this ROM and I haven't looked back and I only considered the new ROMs for about 30 seconds. ROM Zero sets a standard.

I couldn't agree more. I've been with this rom since the beginning.

agreed as well. I don't even bother flashing anything else.

will this work if i updated my phone to 2.2.1 from 2.2?

If you updated through LG then, no. If you had 2.2 and just flashed a 2.2.1 rom I'm pretty sure you can still flash back to this rom (don't quote me on this though, as I have 2.2 and have always used this rom.)
On a side note, Assadullah, if you can hear me, I would love to see this rom finalized as noted in the op!

So how do I go amongst making the naindroid backup? Grab naindroid 2.0 then go into custom recovery and then do it that way? Also i place just the zips inside the "A" folder correct?

You say to just get Nandoid 2.0 from the market; but I can't find it on the market. Where is it?

That tool is 3 years old.
You don't need it and I wouldn't suggest trying it.
If you have custom recovery installed, you already have the ability to create and restore backups.
If you don't have custom recovery, go get it!

Ok, thanks. I've looked at the thread about installing custom recovery, but it confuses me on how to install it. I also posted a question about what adb is, in that thread, but it's not been answered yet.

Installing Custom Recovery
Go to Android SDK | Android Developers and download the file that ends with .zip.
Extract it to your C:\ drive, it should look like ----(SEE ATTACHED)
Go to C:\android-sdk-windows and open sdkmanager.exe.
After it is open, a window will pop out, click reject on all files except for:
Android SDK Tools and Android SDK Platform tools.
Make sure USB debugging is activated (On your phone go to settings> applications>development and check USB debugging) Then open up Cmd and type the following: cd C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools.
NOW you'll be able to input the commands needed to flash the Custom Recovery

jabbawest, thank you for helping me with the android sdk. Now, I have another question: what exactly am I doing when I follow the Install Recovery procedures? Am I changing the stock rom on my phone? Am I just adding recovery features to my phone? I'm really leery of proceeding without knowing what and why I'm doing.

You are not changing the ROM. You are changing the stock recovery into a "developer" type recovery wherein you can flash/install Custom ROMS, make NAND (aka system) backups and restore same.
You have to have this. Even if you don't wish to proceed with flashing ROMS, you still need this tool to backup the state of the phone as it is right now, which is rooted but still stock.
In the event you decide to return to stock, (probably never will) you will have that NAND backup to restore and then you can unroot.

Wonderful to hear that. That relieves a lot of apprehension on my part, about messin' up my phone.

I have a new question. What is the Google Apps (gapps)? There isn't a specific app on the market called Google Apps or gapps. I went ahead and down loaded it, along with the ROM, from the op, but I'd like to know what's all in it.

Thank you.

This ROM was specifically built for Android version 2.2, so be sure you have the correct version before installing. This will not work on 2.2.1
The gapps zip conatins all of the google proprietary applications like gmail, gtalk, etc, etc.
This ROM requires you to install the gapps, some do not as they have the google setup built in which, after setup, you will then download all of these applications.

Yes, I do have 2.2. That's one of the reasons I was looking at this one. Ok, that makes sense then. So this ROM doesn't have gmail, calendar, etc like the Sense ROM and others do. Thank you for the reply.

Correct, you will have to flash the gapps zip immediately after flashing the ROM.
There may be some updates available for those applications but you won't receive them until you've logged into Google and have setup your market account.
