Root [ROM] RomZeroFinal 4/3/2011 it's not over

When you go into custom recovery you have to make a nandroid backup which will allow you to go back to stock if something were to happen during the flash process. For the GAPPs and the rom I suggest you create a folder called "A" and place them both in there, because the phone can't scroll in custom recovery and they will not show otherwise.

Should I snag Naindroid 2.0 and use that? Is that all I need to do the backup? all help is appreciated.

You create the nandroid backup from custom recovery. You should grab titanium backup and backup your apps if you don't want to re-download everything though.

Re-Download? As in the apps I have on the phone or as in the app itself that does the backup?
I grabbed Rom Manager. Is titanium better than that?

The apps that are on your phone now. I just use titanium backup to backup the apps, and then use custom recovery to flash the rom. I don't use rom manager.

So how do I go amongst making the naindroid backup? Grab naindroid 2.0 then go into custom recovery and then do it that way? Also i place just the zips inside the "A" folder correct?

DO NOT use Rom Manager, it does not work with this phone. Do a nandroid back up directly from custom recovery. Click "Back up/Restore" option and do your nandroid back up from there.

No, just go to custom recovery like he said and do the back up from there. Yes you place the files in the "A" folder you created and they will be there when you zip from the card.

Custom recovery is Vol Down+Home+Power and release at LG logo correct? If so I have tried this multiple times and it show the screen for a minute then reboots and goes to the Setup Phone page. Any clues as to how to get it into this mode?

EDIT: Nevermind I think i found it. googled CUSTOM RECOVERY and found a page that has the necessary files to get into custom recovery.

Personally, I've always used Quick Boot. It's actually included in RomZeroFinal. On a side note, I don't know why everyone says 'release at LG logo' I hold all three buttons down until I see the recovery screen.

I do the same. LG screen appears and if I let go it boots normally. Followed this tutorial and got to the custom recovery but only the up vol button works and it scrolls downward. Cannot use any other button cause it dont work. so useless until someone finds what up with this. Kinda sucks cause I thought I would have the ROM loaded by now.

Ummm weird it just work s out well on everybody else`s phone. Probably you did something wrong. And btw the buttons you can use on recovery are: menu, back and volumes buttons.

LOL people have so many problems reading and following insructions. Even video tutorials. I'm not afraid of insulting them because they can't/won't read this

I'm going to install this finally. I hope I will be like, "WOWWIE ZOWWIE!!!!!!!".

I usually am. It's just the reinstalling everything else that annoys me. No I don't backup my apps. "Bad Android user! BAD!!!!" lol

You know, everytime I see a noob that needs help I try and help them and point them in the right direction.

Two things I always stress are READ AND REREAD EVERYTHING BEFORE you attempt a mod on the phone. The other is that help is here all you need to do is ask in a polite, courteous manner yet somehow some people still end up not paying attention.

Mind you, this ISN'T everyone, just SOME. I love the fact that you tell em to take their phone out in the driveway and stomp on it Asadullah, makes me laugh eveytime I visualize it LOL.

Sounds like you went and installed the custom recovery for the Optimus S because that's exactly what will happen if you do that. But that's impossible because you posted the link to the correct recovery.

That's the first thing I thought, but in the Custom Recovery thread he quoted the entire OP so I couldn't wrap my head around why he would dl a file from somewhere else when what he needs is right in front of his face. This is the first real smartphone I've ever owned besides the WinMo Code before this and I've never had any problems doing any of this shit and, while I do agree with InsaneCrane and try to help when I can, It does get frustrating when so many people ask the same questions.

By the way, Asadullah, how many easter eggs are there? So far I've found your name and the "open sesame" on the stock lock screen.

Off hand I can't remember It seems like ages ago. I know in the next release besides a new ui there are ...... some .

I read it thoroughly. I did exactly what it said. I'm not blind ;). Don't know what happened. Gonna retry it tomorrow. I got the file from that page that I posted. Sorry for stating it was useless it wasn't my intention to say that the person who did this was useless but that for me it was useless at the time until someone could answer as to why the buttons were not working. I also know the button order. Yes I am new to these android phones. High five to those that think there cool for saying that someone who is trying to learn about them through a community that is supposed to help those that want to learn is such a noob. Pretty sure I didn't say I wasn't a noob. Think I stated that multiple times before. :D
Say what you want but why waste thread space if you arent here to help and just to degrade those attempting to follow in your footsteps. you were there one day weren't you? Anyways so this happens when the optimus s .img is flashed over eh? That cant be possible if I grabbed the file from the link in the page. No other reason this could be happening? should I go back to stock and start over again? All help is appreciated like I have stated many times before. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I got it! :) Started fresh and did it all over again and now it seems to have worked. Excellent. Thanks for the help guys! :)

On some phones, you can be holding the buttons down for a long time before the boot process begins. So, if you release when you see the LG logo you applied sufficient pressure for the proper time. That's why. ;)

Ladies and Gentlemen It's here the rom zero final.
So what's this rom all about? Let me tell you :D

First this rom is only for the guys that had 2.2 and can flash 2.2 roms

Can be overclocked
all metro likeness removed
new ringtones + notifications
Adwlauncher as default
stagefright enabled
completely new shared uid
awesome

issues
none

How to flash this rom

Download the rom
Download the gapps (google apps)
put both the rom and the gapps on your sdcard and reboot into recovery
in recovery wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and .android secure
select flash rom from zip and flash the main rom and then flash the gapps.Reboot your phone and enjoy.
.Also download the rom here and the gapps

I changed my mind I'm gonna focus only on the 2.2 rom development. Why you ask? because I realized the only people on here that read or have donated have been the ones that were originally here when I first started. I'm not gonna pull my other links but I won't be working on them.

I can't download the rom or I got problems
read the other thread it's got the answers in there for you. If you still
can't figure it out take your phone place it on the ground and stomp on it
cuz you don't need android in your life.
Also I don't take any responsibility in anything you do to your phone

Anyways enjoy the rom

Thanks for the ROM. You kick ass man! I will be donating :)
I love the honeycomb screen. That MetroPCS shit was killing me! LOL!

You can change the boot screen. There is a thread called Metro PCS Hello Hello Bye Bye. You can find it in the link in my signature block. :)

Thanx for donating. Our ROM makers need the support.
