Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

I have to say I finally fixed y he was son start boot loop problem (I just stated fresh es and didn't restore anything with tb) but now I'm running that rom and over clocked it and it runs like butter great job!

I'm glad that it is working correctly. I still have not had any issues with TiB so I have no idea what that would be (that causes the issue). I do apologize deeply for all the trouble you have been through, though, and that you seem to have had to start fresh. Are you using the recommended settings for the CPU Tuner?

Alright everything us working top notch as of right now after doing a full reflash.

I installed the Mms.apk and that's the only issue it still acts up during media messages and fails to download D:

As expected (that everything is working right) :)

I use Go SMS instead, which I never have any issues with, and no one is awake to send me an MMS message at the moment, I'm unable to test it. However, I pulled the .apk I uploaded straight from v2.0.6. Try the .apk attached this post instead.

Downloading it via Tapatalk now, I'll edit this or give an update on it in just a sec. :tee:

Edit: Alrighty that fixed it, took me a bit to find a working Root Explorer, used Root Browser Lite.

That's why I'm glad I got Root Explorer before they made it cost $2.00 :D I got it free. So when I get a new device I'm probably gonna just back it up with root uninstaller pro and transfer the .apk.

Yep and it's going good

I am a noob at this, so please forgive me in advance for my dumb questions. My OE is rooted. I have TIB Pro, do I still need CWM? I would love to put sleipnir 2.0.9 rom on my phone, but I just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I try it. If I do still need cwm, do I also need an external sd card to put my back up on? Or just put the back up on the so called "external" of the OE? Oh I did a back up with TIB pro already, would that be enough to put my phone back to its normal state in case something goes wrong with the 2.0.9 flash?

You cannot flash a custom ROM with anything but CWM, therefore you have to have it. Backing up in TiB is one thing, but you are only backing up your apps and data, not system data, the boot image, etc., so you need to go to CWM and do a Backup through CWM in order to truly back everything up. Everything you need to know regarding CWM and the Optimus Elite can be found here (http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/620742-clockworkmod-optimus-elite-faq-guide.html)

The internal memory you are backing up to on your phone only has 2 gb's. Actually a little less. And if you are like me, I have 86 user apps so my backup in TiB takes 688mb's and my CWM backup takes about the same amount of space so I'm about 1.3gb's of less data for my backups. I have a 32gb sd card which is a great investment. You're gonna want an External SD Card man. You wont run out of space as easily especially if you have a game like Asphalt 7 that takes up 1.3gb of your Internal SD anyways. You would miss out on the bigger games. I recommend buying an SD Card. Well, a micro one I mean lol. :P

I've isolated the instability issue in the scripts to 13citbun.
When using that script, my phone will just reboot itself after it's been on for several hours.

I'll keep experimenting with it just to be absolutely sure though.

As far as I can tell, all the other scripts are stable, although it seems some of them seem to try doing things that aren't supported on the Elite. I'll make a post on that later when I have more time though.

Just a heads up as to why there hasn't been much development or many posts from me lately; I've been pretty sick these past four-five days. I'm finally coming out of it, but until I'm doing better there won't be any updates. Just figured I'd let everyone know so that no one is left wondering.

Good old zombie flu its attacking everyone this year, hope you get better and come back to continue your great work. :D

Well, couldn't sleip (this is starting to become a thing, isn't it?), and compiled v2.1.0 while half-asleep and still recovering from the aforementioned zombie flu. Still, flashed it, and everything seems to work. Check the changelog - and enjoy v2.1.0 with working scripting! That leaves two features on the agenda: search button remap and.... and.... zzzZZZzzzz...

I'll be updating in just a bit, I'll snoop around just make sure everything is good to go. :)

Thanks for your efforts even while sick to a degree Artine.

Edit: Alrighty so we are now presented with a previous little issue where the camera, clock, and camcorder app shortcuts do not display in the drawer, screenshot of course has yet to be fixed, but nothing other than that yet.

In the OP you have a list of recommened apps and the battery adjustments. Anyway you can upload a revision with ALL the recommended things in the ROM? Looking to flash soon (Got the itch)

Nevermind, the calculator app apparently is showing porn ads haha...

All you really need to do is move a few sliders in the included "Cpu master", and install juice defender. Even the default settings in JD work well, or just install "power toggle" and control 3g data and wifi manually.

The rom runs great all stock too. :) These too tweeks just make it speedy and help battery.

I apologize. I had forgotten to include them in the build, which would be why they are now showing up. I noticed this earlier today myself and am already uploading v2.1.1 with that corrected.

Unfortunately no, and to do so would bloat the ROM more. These are things the user sets according to the app post-install, and as far as I can tell there is no way to do this with a simple ROM install. Perhaps something like Aroma can, but otherwise I am unaware of a way to. Nor would I want to, for in some cases there are people who cannot safely overclock their Elites to 1.6GHz without it becoming unstable. If I could set a setting like that, I would set it to 1.6GHz by default, but that would be unfair to configure for them. Also, I cannot think for others - so as much as I would like to do so with good intentions, the end result would unravel the very goal I would seek to reach with setting that up for everyone on install. Also, the calculator is a huge improvement over stock (granted any calculator is), but to solve the ads issue (I've not seen ads in apps for months, so I had forgotten it had any) use any of the good free anti-ads apps out there like AdAway, in combination with DroidWall, and not a single ad should come up. Same is true of games like Angry Birds.

That's something I've never understood - what exactly is the point of Power Toggle anyway. Can't everyone go into settings or use the power control widget already included in the system apps to do that exact same thing? What's the point of an app like that?

But, I've been running the same build all day, and I'm noticing similar if not better battery life than without scripts running, which is good, and that the phone appears to be handling even better than before. So that's a win-win with scripts active, which means they stay.

v2.1.1 will have the camera and desk clock added back in. It's coming shortly (within the hour).

EDIT: v2.1.1 is up and ready to go. Enjoy!

I was wondering if there was anyway to change the color of the status bar drop screen or the text in there? If so can you point me in the right direction...I can't see what comes up in there.. Also thanks for making this rom!

I'm fairly sure of what you're talking about as far as the part of the status bar drop screen, but I don't know what you're getting at as far as being able to not read it. It's cyan on dark gray; that's pretty legible to me.
