I'm sure many will be pleased to know that while init.d scripting and the screenshot power menu feature are still under construction (though we're making progress c: ), there have been numerous background changes and cleanup (more so as I continue to reverse engineer more non-init.d scripts, one by one), and I've rewritten the installer as well as updated the Busybox and Superuser binaries, and the Superuser app. I've also for sure fixed the camera not-showing-up bug, and Gallery for sure works properly as before it was, for some reason, a hit and miss. I just installed the newest build on my phone and my girlfriend's phone.
v2.1 should hopefully have at least one of the three features completely implemented as opposed to partially, but feel free to enjoy 2.0.9, the RC (Release Candidate, ie post-testing) build. OP has been updated with the appropriate links, and I've chosen to add DevHost to my arsenal of hosts. I will still continue to use Mediafire, however, since (according to Mediafire) v2.0.8 had 8 downloads. The link doesn't stay up for long but it's worth putting it up so a few people can download the ROM in 2 minutes as opposed to 22 minutes with SendSpace, as opposed to not putting it up at all.

Oh, and the reason I quoted your post is because no one should have to wipe cache, dalvik cache, and /system, as the installer will now do this prior to installing the ROM itself. It's the "Housekeeping" phase. Also, the 'tuneage link in the OP has been updated.

And, out of curiosity, has anyone taken a look at the audio packs?

EDIT: I just tried downloading v2.0.9Ac from DevHost. It has the same, similar, or slightly faster speeds compared to Mediafire on Download, and seems to upload a little faster. I won't be using Mediafire anymore for the ROM if DevHost doesn't red-flag it. Thank you to whomever offered DevHost - it's was an awesome idea.

I have DLed the audio packs and they are really nice. I only use one or two from each for my personal taste and add them in each new build.
And the Epic Music - 1 Hour Wonderful Mix 2012 tuneage rocks. Book marked it!

Glad to hear someone's using them :) Many of the ringtones/notifications/alarms comes from various ROM dumps of other phones, including some HTC Phones, a couple from the Samsung GSIII, a few from the LG Intuition, some from the ICSE ROM courtesy of Curtis, some from the Nexus 7, some from Zedge (app), and some from CyanogenMod. Also, the UI sounds are almost completely from the Nexus 7.

I figured that 2012 mix was much better than what I had linked there previously. I've been listening to the mix all day :D

Awesome, much appreciated Artine glad to see a dev that releases new revisions daily if not weekly. Updating to 2.0.9ac in just a bit, also good choice switching to DevHost finally lol.

Although I do wish you kept the old Mms styling. Also there is an issue with Gmail, the overall process fails on startup and application execution.

Edit: Gallery continues to crash upon execution.

I'm hesitant to put up another poll because I can't (figure out how to?) take them down, but if enough people want the other .apk for stock SMS, I will change it back. This was a black version ported from CM - found it on XDA two nights ago while looking for init.d support stuff.

Gallery should be just fine. I'm on the exact same build that I posted, and I can use Portrait and the gallery both without failure. I did it just now whilst typing out this post. You may wish to try downloading from an alternate source, or I can reupload the build.

I try to make the releases weekly, but only if they're significant enough. I'd rather have people flash as least often as possible because I'm sure it's a hassle for some, but if there are improvements then there are improvements, after all. DevHost will be the replacement for Mediafire if they do not flag the build in a week's time. 6 days left.

OK, I've gotten the init.d scripts running now with the install-recovery.sh method that was somewhere on xda(I'll edit with the link if I can find it again).

I didn't see anything at all in the init.rc that would run init.d. I'd prefer it be run from the the init.rc script, which I may do later although it is quite a bit more difficult that just adding a few lines to the init.rc(since as we all know, that gets overwritten on boot)

Anyway, just create a file called install-recovery.sh in /system/etc
add these lines:
#!/system/bin/sh
# init.d support
busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d/
set permissions to 755(777 should work also)
change owner and group to 1000

So far I just have mine running the sd card speed fix script.
I'll add the others one at a time over the next few days, because I think one of them was making my phone unstable since after running several of the scripts, I was getting random reboots a few hours after the phone had powered on.

Also, I'm using Tagged, but there is no reason that this shouldn't also work in Sleipnir.

Edit: Also the permissions on 98SDfix are 777, the owner is 0 and the group is 2000. I'm not really sure if that makes much difference though.

You can fix your gallery issues by downloading QuickPic. I like it way better than the stock gallery anyway.

I would like to know this as well. Also, as soon as I get a response back from Leslie I'll build a Sprint-specific one and release the two builds side by side.

I will be waiting with my breath held for the Sprint rom. Hope I don't pass out before it gets here.

Already have that, would be best if the default intalled gallery and image viewer was QuickPic, which I've seen done quite a bit in Optimus V ROMs.

just did a flash of the current build (2.0.9ac) and i had only 1 problem... i wasn't able to send or receive picture messages. so i went back to 2.0.7 and was able to send and receive pictures with no problem. ill re-flash tomorrow and do some tinkering and update. has anyone else experience this issue or did i just get a bad flash?

Yeah I also had that problem. Thought it could be the carrier's end since virgin (sprint) has sucky connections around my area. Gonna try going back the the previous version and see if that helps.

No I'm having the same issue as well, and I have constant high dBm on 3G.

I want to go back to 2.0.6 where I noticed no issues at all to be honest aside from the screenshot script. Artine if you could provide me with a 2.0.6 download it would be great btw.

As of 2.0.9Ac I notice the following (Could be just me.):
-Gmail process and application failure.
-Gallery process and application failure. (Using QuickPic to bypass that issue.)
-No MMS. (Pictures / Videos do not download.)
-Mass Storage SDCard Remount Reboots. (SDCard fails to mount, stalls at 100% and reboots the Elite.)

That's odd, my Gmail and gallery work. And my sd card mounts properly with no trouble. (both initial and remounts) only trouble is my mms. Maybe a bad flash?

I am on the same build (2.0.9Ac) that I uploaded. Gallery and Gmail and SD Card all work properly, for me, and have since it was released. I'll swap the Mms.apk out again for what it used to have as opposed to the black CM-ported version. Also, it wasn't just the screenshot script - no scripts were running at all. Now that we have them running, we're trying to narrow down the culprit that causes instability reboots with regard to the scripts.

Whatever Gallery, Gmail, and SD Card issues you're having is likely the result of a bad flash, or corrupted upload. Try downloading from one of the other two sources provided and reflash, being sure to clear dalvik cache at least twice - since it seems you're the only one experiencing the issues with Gmail, SD Card, and Gallery. However, if those do not solve the problem, I'd be more than happy to see what I can do on a rebuild. Mms can be solved right away - since many are having this issue, I assume it's tied into the CM-ported .apk. So, here (attached to the post) is the old .apk that Sleipnir used to have. I think I'll stick with it from now on.

As for your SD Card, if the problem persists, you may just want to try backing up all of the SD Card data onto a computer or flashdrive, then via the System Settings format the SD Card, then transfer all of the data back onto it. From my knowledge of computers (infinitely more extensive than Android), the formatting might be corrupted in some way - though it wouldn't be from any of the ROMs here, as they don't touch the SD Card in any way.

Also, for those wondering about the search button remap - with the scripts working, I have a few more ideas as to how to get the remap functioning correctly.

I just updated to your current 12/07 version ...and noticed that its still odexed after finishing the install...is there any way that you could possibly post another version that stays deodexed? I'd like to get a copy of this rom with system apps deodexed..I'm not a dev and can't find a way to deodex the rom so I can't make the mods I want..thanx

The ROM itself is deodexed. Part of the install is to re-odex everything. Here's the breakdown:

Deodexed system apps are easy to theme, and easy for developers to work with.

If you want to mod the ROM before installing it, open the .zip file with WinRAR (default compression set to Normal, or it'll break the ROM), and make your modifications there. Then flash it.

Odexed system apps run a lot faster for the end user once the ROM has been installed. If I remember correctly, this is because they are already partially/mostly decompressed. An end user with a Deodexed ROM will experience slower speeds than if it was odexed. So, Hashtag figured out a way to get the ROM to Odex upon install, so that when the end user has it installed, the system apps are odexed and therefore run/perform faster. Yet while we are building the ROM prior to flashing, they are deodexed because they are easier to work with. Odexing is a good thing for users. Very good.

Perhaps I'll try flashing again, would clearing cache partition assist at all? I personally do not do it but if it would fix my issues ill gladly do it.

And good to know the scripts are working, I'll update the Mms.apk thanks Artine.

You're always supposed to clear cache, dalvik cache, and format /system. The installer now clears cache and formats /system, but may or may not clear dalvik cache. Clear both caches twice.

The reason for this is; the cache and dalvik cache both has data in them that says x is in y, x and y are in z, and so on and so forth and even has some of the data of x and y to be used by Z if the need arises. You can read up more on that if you wish, but that's part of it (the gist of it). If you format /system, but don't format/erase the two caches, then the caches say that x data is in y, but y doesn't exist anymore, so /system and the caches get in a fight, and both get confused, don't know what to do, and the result is glitches/bugs/weirdness/failures/crashes/an anarchic mess. So, clear both caches (dalvik twice, just in case), then format /system, then flash the ROM. :D

Oh, and just a heads up, v2.1 is going to have scripts active and the background/default wallpaper is going to change. Let me know which one you like better once the build is up.

i replaced the mms.apk with the one that you provided and all im getting is force closes when i try to open the messaging app.

Using a root-permissions file browser like Root Explorer or Titanium Backup, remount the /system/app directory as R/W (read-write), then delete the Mms.apk and the Mms.odex files from that directory, then paste the Mms.apk I attached to my earlier post into that directory. Reboot into Recovery, and clear cache and dalvik cache, then reboot your phone. The Mms.apk should install itself automatically. It is a system app and cannot be installed normally, it does it by itself on reboot.

I have to say I finally fixed y he was son start boot loop problem (I just stated fresh es and didn't restore anything with tb) but now I'm running that rom and over clocked it and it runs like butter great job!

Alright everything us working top notch as of right now after doing a full reflash.

I installed the Mms.apk and that's the only issue it still acts up during media messages and fails to download D:
