Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

Could we have screen shots of ur uber mix rom ur running??

Screenshots are unavailable at this time as I have need to reformat my OE since I broke it with Science. And Science will fix it again. The build itself, however, should be considered experimental/a test build. I threw it together in about an hour, a fortnight or so ago. Nothing broke as a result of the build, however, and it all works fine.

The base for it was Tagged. From there, I removed a little more bloat that even Hashtag didn't remove, added in his odex script so that the ROM odexes itself during install, to help add to the overall performance post-install. Additionally, I used some of the themed apks from ICSOE (specifically; Contacts, Deskclock, framework-res, PackageInstaller, Phone, Settings, and SystemUI), and slightly modified the SystemUI and framework-res for Aegir's new loading circle as well as the status bar. There is no "quick settings," as that was removed by myself for the simple fact that as of right now it exists as an additional overlay on top of the default notifications, which in effect reduces the phone's performance. I myself am content with the Power Control widget (I almost never have a need for mobile data, and to me it takes the same amount of time to hold down the power button to switch to airplane mode as it does to swipe down the notifications bar and toggle it that way).

It's all just a personally-favorable mix, for myself. However, I am releasing it anyway just in case anyone else wants it or wants to play with my little hackjob. Also, the battery icon displays your battery life percentage. I loved that since I put it in Aegir - it is therefore in this ROM mix too.

As far as battery life and efficiency is concerned, how's this?: I can play Angry Birds for half an hour, and only lose two (2) percent of battery life. A phone restart? Only six (6) percent. Of course this is with a flexible JuiceDefender configuration, and SmartassV2 for a CPU governor, but even with those same settings, on the stock ROM I still would be lucky to go a full day with normal use. As in, a full twenty-four (24) hours. I've gone a little over forty-eight (48) hours, and still had between ten (10) and twenty (20) percent battery life on this mix, on a single charge with regular usage. Also, I've often been able to fully recharge it in about one hour, give a half hour or take about ten minutes at times. Never more than two hours.

TL;DR This is my hack-job attempt to bring everything under one roof. That appears to be my mantra. Seems to work great so far after two weeks of testing.

So, yeah. Fun stuff.

Alrighty then, with that here's the newest build that I myself am currently using. It's a hack-fusion of Tagged, Aegir, and with some elements borrowed from The ICS Elite Aeneas ROM that Curits and Ktb have been building. Enjoy. I would also recommend running Leslie's New_ROM_Elite zip, instead of the Update one, for this install. It also includes my audio compilation from several different system dumps of various phones, some listed here in the forums and some not.

Your ROM mix got taken down for copyright. That's so stupid, everything in it was made from open-source stuff lol

Lmao. I'll try scrubbing the metadata off of the sounds (which will also save some space :D ) and see if re-upping that version will do the trick. That's just hilarious, though XD

Do I ever love SoundForge's batch converter, man. That thing is powerful.

EDIT: Metadata's gone for all the audio files that may have been causing the issue. I don't understand the copyright takedown either, but whatever. Anyway, uploading will take about ten minutes, it's starting now.

EDIT: Here's the new upload. The OP has been updated as well.

Where do you suggest it can improve?

Update: The upload survived a day, so it's good to go. Enjoy, everyone.

First off the boot animation is nice, I love the music...but we don't have CM7+ yet, so it's seems kinda of redundant.
The battery icon could be put so it stands up to save some space maybe?
I uninstalled Winamp and used Google Music, Total Commander and used Root Explorer and finally I uninstalled Juice Defender because I believe their gimmicks.
I'd like to see the original Calculator and Calendar back as well- for the life of me, I can't get those to restore using TiBu or re install them.
I also have the original DSP Manager .apk from CM7+ that I've been using since I got the Elite. If you'd like, PM me and I'll put it in my DropBox if you want to use it in future builds.
More choices of sounds for Alarm, Notifications and Ringtones maybe? I know you maybe want to keep the size of the ROM down, so just a suggestion.
Otherwise it's great! Thanks for your hard work and keep it up.

Edit: Oh, another thing. On Curtis1973's ICS Elite Aeneas Build, he has the Phone Options when you hold down the Power Button includes additionally: Reboot, Recovery and Screenshot which is freaking amazing!

Redundant.... how? In any case, having the CM10 Boot Animation didn't have anything to do with having or not having CM for our OE's, it was simply the best looking Boot Animation I had seen after looking through well over two hundred (I lost count at 223) boot animations. By far.

I've never been able to edit the actual image files myself, despite the guides and everything else, for whatever reason - and any errors I do get after extensive googling I've never been able to get anything on. In spite of this, that icon is what I think is the best one I've seen, and it comes straight from UOT kitchen. In the future, I may be able to get it vertical with a display of percentage too.

I'm surprised you both removed Total Commander and JuiceDefender. I included JD for the simple fact that, before I learned about rooting, I couldn't go more than 10-12 hours on the stock ROM, but after using JD I was able to go 18+. And Total Commander is free, can mount r/rw, has root permissions, and two windows which you can switch back and forth from to do some really easy copy/pasting without having to leave your previous directory, go through several more to get to your destination, paste, then go several back. I used Root Explorer for a while, but I'll never go back now.

To each their own, though :)

As far as everything else goes, the current build is strictly from what I've got personally set up. It's not really intended to be a public release, and as was stated before if anyone would like to make changes to their build download feel free! It's really easy to open up the ROM via WinRAR, drag and drop things around, and voila :)

If you would like Calculator back (it wasn't removed), simply move it from /data/app to /system/app. That would take less time than myself doing it and waiting for everything to upload again :P
Same goes for calendar (though there are many better replacements, also free). Personally I use Tasks n' ToDos, and Calculations, as my Calculator and Calendar replacements, and hence why Calculator was moved and Calendar was removed entirely. I can certainly release a more public build, however.

As far as the DSP manager goes (and I use two equalizers myself on my desktop computer), Winamp has it built in and since I don't need an equalizer for anything but playing music, I'm good without it. Thank you, though, for the offer. I may yet take you up on it in the future. And as far as alarms/ringtones/notifications go, including more did feel like bloat to me but there is always Zedge. I tried to get anything form the multiple system dumps that sounded good, and/or unique, compared to toher dumps, and omitted a lot of redundancy and anything that sounded like it had the bitrate of a banana. Also, some of the system sounds (unlock, camera click, etc.) were also updated with some pulled from the Nexus 7. I was keeping that part a bit of a surprise :D

Thank you for all of the feedback :)

EDIT: As for those Phone Options, integrating those for

Hey, bro. I know its not to extremely important to you (or doesn't seem to be) but I screwed around a bunch with the boot animations a while back until I finally got it right. If you need any guidelines or tips, its quite easy. I just used the original desc.txt file and altered it to match what I wanted it to do, I seemed to run into problems when I didn't just alter the original. Also I used a dedicated archiver, which I found to help immensely, I believe its called "Zarchiver". If you're interested let me know. You can put any images you want into a boot animation and they don't necessarily have to be pngs, shit you could even draw some frames from scratch and take pictures of them and have them play like a cartoon.

Artine,

I installed your ROM now and it's awesome. Thank you for a wonderful ROM. Much appreciate it.

I know you said that it's in the works and if you could get the Power Options (Reboot, Recovery, Screenshot, etc.) like Aeneas, it would be icing on the cake :)

Actually, I am still interested in having this knowledge under my metaphorical belt for potential future use. I appreciate the offer, and would like some guidelines on it. Thank you!

just wondering if your screenshot taker was fixed or if someone else will post some- im really curious on it's looks. :)

I tried downloading from mediafire on my phone and i keep getting a "Download unsuccessful" message. Maybe something's wrong with the upload... idk

Honestly? Probably because it's timing out with the slow data transfer rate of downloading it on a mobile device. I just downloaded it without signing into mediafire; download successful.

I'm on 6Mbit WiFi..

Edit: restarted phone, restarted wifi, used two desperate browsers/downloading clients, and even pulled the battery and I'm still getting it

Edit: Tried on 3g as well. Download fails right after I start it.

I can reupload it to mediafire, but I even tried downloading it on my OE (and again on my desktop, cache cleared cookies gone, everything fresh and not signed into mediafire), and I'm not having any issues downloading.

Alternatively, I'm also uploading it to Sendspace now.

Since I've overwritten version 1.7.1, with 1.7.2, that's what's going to be available. So, for everyone reading this, there's been another update :D This one, again, however, is more personal (calculator and calendar are both still MIA in this one, a more public-oriented one should be out later today).

EDIT: Here's the Mediafire re-upload, and here's the Sendspace upload.

Is it supposed to download as an application type file?
Sorry is thats a dumb question. I have just never seen that before. Usually it's listed as compressed. It just threw me off.

Disregard my PM reply then. Dunno why it would list it as something different, but as long as it's .zip, then you're good.

Something to do with downloading it through the initial page that pops up when I click on the download link from sendspace. After refreshing that page, I attempt to download again and it downloaded like a normal compressed, zip file. Which brings me to this.. After what I believe to be a totally succesful download, I installed it to my sd and attempted to flash it through CWM and it gave me...

Installing: /emmc/Argir_1.7.2.zip

Any ideas?
Im going to attempt to re-download it. My wifi has been a bit edgy tonight.
I really want to give this ROM a try.

Is it on your internal or external sd card? It should be on your external one if you've got it. Alternatively, it is uploaded to Mediafire too. I've dl'ed and installed both copies just fine on my end. I will, however, reupload them.

Also, is anyone on Sprint using

I do believe it's on my external . Don't quote me though. I'll re download tomorrow and give it another shot. Thanks again!

I just re-uploaded both of them. Links in the OP have been updated, and I've included the MD5 for verification just in case it may be corrupting upon download.

EDIT: Keep in mind it's still the personal version, meaning there is no stock Camera nor Calendar. I use replacements for those. Ditto for the Calculator. Some great replacements that I use instead are Camera360, Tasks N Todos, and Calculations.

The awesome boot up sound went great with my sigh of relief after it flashed without a hitch. And HOLY CRAP! It takes what? 10 seconds to fully boot up? Nice work, Artine. It looks really good. Thanks again, good sir!:)

EDIT: Im still giggling over how awesome the screen lock image is. I cant put into words how jealous I have been of my girlfriends Droid Bionic. It has it as well. I love it!
