Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

The awesome boot up sound went great with my sigh of relief after it flashed without a hitch. And HOLY CRAP! It takes what? 10 seconds to fully boot up? Nice work, Artine. It looks really good. Thanks again, good sir!:)

EDIT: Im still giggling over how awesome the screen lock image is. I cant put into words how jealous I have been of my girlfriends Droid Bionic. It has it as well. I love it!

.... yep :D

The power button menu with reboot etc. Would be awesome! There aren't really any other improvements I can think of, everything works great! I had to scale my cpu back some because of force closes during games, but that's just my individual phone not handling the oc well. My mms issues with Sprint are still going on, I found a quick fix and a long fix, it's anyone wants I'll post it, out make a new thread about it.

that would be a great idea! maybe add recovery mode as well.

I just re-uploaded both of them. Links in the OP have been updated, and I've included the MD5 for verification just in case it may be corrupting upon download.

EDIT: Keep in mind it's still the personal version, meaning there is no stock Camera nor Calendar. I use replacements for those. Ditto for the Calculator. Some great replacements that I use instead are Camera360, Tasks N Todos, and Calculations.

This is absolutely the coolest, fastest responding ROM I've ever had the privilege of running, especially on a mid-range budget phone like the optimus elite. thanks for an awesome ROM!

Just wondering if a couple (or three) things are possible. Yes the ideas are stolen from CM on One V, lol, but I miss them a lot since moving to Elite:

1. - Long press BACK to kill current app. (Im getting 24+ hours on a charge, but it kills me to see apps keep running lol)
2. - Center the clock on the bar (just used to it lol, not important)
3. - Digital display of signal strength (-dbm) (Live in area with bad signal so its easier for me to tell if I have enough signal to get messages etc)

Last 2 are of course minor annoyances, but the first would be INCREDIBLE.

Anyway thank you for everything you've done and continue to do!!!!

I second the first one! :)

Artine,
Is there a flashable version of gapps available for this ROM? I have installed your replacement recommendations, but Google calendar is still essential for what I need.

No, there isn't. However, I've attached both the Calendar and CalendarProvider in this post, and I am uploading the _P (public build) version as we speak.

REALLY appreciate you taking the time out to post the calendar apps. they won't install, but I still love your commitment. :)

the calendar app is now available. it can be accessed as well but it is not linked to my Google account and no visible way to connect it.

Oh! My bad, there should have been a third .apk. Here's the one you'll need to get it to sync/link to your gmail. Install the same way you did the others - place it in /system/app and reboot.

Just to clarify, you're running this on your Sprint, not VM, OE? Did you have to make make any changes? I would like to flash this on my phone but I've never installed a custom ROM before and I'd like to avoid any surprises.

Any other Sprint users running this?

What's up with the search front key?
When is press it, nothing happens.
When I long press it, it gives me the option to complete action using Handcent sms or SoundHound.

Other than that and the absence of pre installed calendar.apks, I couldn't be happier. Fast as hell. Buttery smooth.
With smartassV2 at 1.4ghz I am getting roughly 20 hours on a full charge and it's still zippy.
Great work, Artine. You da man.

That's because the Google Search apk was removed. I hope in the future to be able to replace it with the DuckDuckGo one, but also as of now I don't see a point for that search button anyway. Anyone mind explaining it's usefulness (read: usefulness, not purpose, which is of course to search)? It can of course always be added back in. I'm just curious as to why it's particularly useful.

That's fantastic! And is that on heavy use? I just had a little-over-two-day run with light use.

Cause when I want to google something, Im one tap away from searching it. Now I have to open Opera Mini and wait for it to load up and then search. That face key is just quicker in my opinion. It took me a while to find it useful but now that it's gone, I miss it.

About the usefulness of the search button, I find it completely useless as a search button. They have a search button and a search widget and I'm pretty sure the browser defaults to their search engine page. They have thrown in enough ways to lead me to their search engine without the button.

Through the magic of the keylayout files, that button can become whatever button you want it to be. Mine behaves like a camera/screenshot button. Surely you could find something in the long list of supported keys that is more useful that another way to get to a search engine.

how i would also like to make the search button a camera button

That's exactly where my stance is on the usefulness of the search button, to a T actually.

That being said, I'll work on mapping it as a camera button. Thanks giantpune!

EDIT: It's just key #217, correct?

EDIT: Public release, including remapped Search capacitive button to function as a capacitive Camera button, Google search .apks are still removed but the stock Calendar has been added back in. Mirrored on SendSpace here. Also, the OP has just been overhauled.
