This is for those who may be having some issues with the 2.4.0 update....I had been running the 2.3.9 since it came out with no issues at all, when I ran the new update the usual way, I had problems with reboots, and couple other random issues.
So I resorted to doing a full wipe, then installed the 2.4.0 update as a fresh ROM install...and I'm glad that I did cuz it is running GREAT....so for those having any type of problems u may want to do the same, as I do not have any problems at all with this update after the fresh install. Thanx Artine for the good work!

Yeah I think that is always the best way, it takes a bit of time but is well worth it in the long run.

Just to add to the record of the "Sleipnir Experience".....I have been flashing each and every update for quite a while now and other than 1 single reboot back on 2.3.8, I have not had ANY problems. When Artine included in the install process the automatic cache wiping, he stated that you didn't have to do anything when updating except flash it. (although I wipe each cache once on my own because he's got me trained to wipe them twice!! :D) As far as the sms, mms problems, I use Handcent and have experienced no problems. I also use Hashtag's Elite Theme chooser and use the ICS theme.....no problems. Another thing I do every time is use Rom toolbox to install custom fonts.......no problems. (If you haven't tried that, I recommend the "Tork" font, one of my favorites!!) Later :smokingsomb:

Honestly your right like I've always done with any new flash always do the 3 wipes that's why we never have problems.

Not sure what happened but my data just stopped working with this new update. reinstalled it 3 times already.

Anybody got a link to 3.8 or 3.9 version?

For those on version 2.4.0 if you open up the Play Store is anyone else missing some app icons under your application lists? Instead of showing the apps unique icon a few apps are showing a generic android logo. I am trying to figure out if it is something with this Rom or an issue with the Play Store itself at the moment.

Maybe u didn't restore them from back up or do u have them frozen? Are they apps u already have?

There is an issue with soft reboots that I believe are centralized to the Settings.xml modifications I made (the rest of the modifications shouldn't be causing any issues). The official links to v2.3.9 are back up until that issue is fixed (and hopefully fixes some of the issues I too have been experiencing on the build - Airplane Mode and Sound turn on and off randomly every few hours or so, by themselves, which makes no sense at all, which I'm guessing is a conflict between JuiceDefender Ultimate and the modified Settings.xml). Thanks to everyone for the feedback, however :) No, I don't have official internet access yet (not until the 17th, actually), but my girlfriend and I are successfully moved in and in the mean time I'm ad-hocing internet access with 3G. Actually, right now, I'm using her laptop while my computer DBANs, ad-hoced with 3G, while using a bluetooth speaker connected to her laptop that I'm playing the radio through with my phone. To whomever thought the device was a weak budget phone, think again :p

I'll be hard at work on both my computer and on Sleipnir to get some of the kinks worked out. I would leave v2.4.0 up, because some of you aren't experiencing issues, but even I myself am experiencing some issues on v2.4.0 and my best guess is that many of you can run into the same bugs as well at some point - so it i just wiser to take v2.4.0 down for now until I can get the kinks worked out. And if anyone would like to take giantpunes custom kernel and add kernel-level init.d official support (so it isn't ad-hoc / half-working anymore, but completely / fully working instead), let me know and I'll be happy to add it (installing or running Linux from a Live CD is a little out of the question at the moment).

... and yeah. That's all I've got for now, stay tuned :)

Hmmmm I guess it wasn't the Version after all. Just installed 3.9 and my data still isn't working. It was working fine before I updated but I was using 3.8 before.

no they are just the apps linked to my account that google play shows you after a fresh install. I do not backup my apps or data.

2.4.0 is working great here apart from the weird play store icon issue I am having and that might be something screwy I did. I don't use juicedefender but overall this build seems smoother than 2.3.9 did for me.

hey guys, sometimes my phone reboots for no reason. I didn't overclock it. If I return my phone for another elite I'm going to loose my grandfather plan right?

That's a question for the more experienced here, jump in ppl, one more thing maybe the apps don't recognize is the same phone cause it has a different id# after update?

I may have missed it, but does Artine post changelogs for each version? I'd like to know what gets changed.
I've seen them before but i know he commented on wut he changed not specific on somethings like a more secure rom cause i think giantpune commented it needed to be more secure??

I figured out the issue with the missing app icons in the Play Store. Apparently it has something to do with the hosts file (what is used for the built in ad blocking). I remember the change log for 2.4.0 mentioned it had been altered for this build so that much be it. Found the answer after reading this thread on xda.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626607

The weird part is a lot of the apps with missing icons are official google ones like Maps.
