Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

I reverted back to stock. I've tried everything from a clean install of state near 2 simple upgrades. I retain too many bugs my battery dies very quickly and if I have less than 5 percent the operating system boot loops. I'm sure the fact that these phones being LG's beta for cheaper Hardware could be the factor as well. The keyboard bugs are so frustrating. That I've come very close to smashin this phone several times

Gl all I'm selling this lagged bugged oe and returning to the ov with the ever polished cyanogenmod - gl all and ty for the experience

sounds like a lot of user error.

My data also stopped working ever since I flashed the last posted 2.39 rom . I did all wipes twice . I'm getting a constant error code 128 . Gonna flash something else or an older version which I still have of Sleipnir . Will report back if I find something .

Make sure ur md5 sum is the same as the Rom your downloading maybe ur download is getting corrupted from a bad signal just a suggestion

Thanks for the help . Did md5 check on the pc file and the file on the sd card in the phone and it matches . Still come up with error code 128 and no 3g / 3g icon . I'm in no way saying it was the rom though . I flashed Anonymous rom to try it out and had a graphic in game pause / stutter issue so I flashed Sleipnir 2.39 back doing double wipes all the time and this issue started when I booted the phone . I really don't know what's going on here . Might have to call Virgin so I might have to revert to stock UUGGGGHHHH ! I do notice that the wipe dalvik tells me "no such file" but it says wiped successfully . That's the only abnormality I'm seeing here . It's either Virgin messing with the towers and I have to reset something , corrupt drivers or my radio is dying . I can make phone calls just fine though so I doubt it's a bad radio . Then again I don't know what's going on . Any help would be appreciated . Love !

Are you re- installing your data from advanced recovery

If you're switching between ROMs (not upgrading/updating to a new version of the same ROM), it's been nigh-universally said that you have to wipe /data in CWM, even for other Android devices :) Wiping /data and the dalvik-cache may or may not help with your data/3G, though. If they don't, I would say go ahead and call VM. However, for restoring your data properly after it has been wiped prior to switching ROMs, instead of restoring it from TitaniumBackup, see the following:

Thanks again . I did a clean install and did not use backups . Placed rom inside sd card , booted to recovery and wiped all , data/ cache/ dalvik and install from sd card . I wipe 2 or 3 times each time before installing the rom . I'm calling Virgin see what they say . I'm in Puerto Rico and the towers here suck .

I just called Virgin and they said 3g is down in my area because they ripped the old system out to update the system to make way for 4g . So the error is tower related and has nothing to do with the Rom . Thanks .

Artine greetings I have a question about the cpu tuner on the slide part underneath the option noop or cfq which one?

Noop is supposed to be better for solid state storage. I have no idea why the stock default is cfq but I think artine changed it so the default is noop.

I'm asking cause my phone is getting hot again and I noticed it's on cfq the battery has been draining fast again I checked juice defender and that cpu tuner is still set and on all are, is kinda frustrating especially there's an app causing my wifi not to work

For process scheduling, see scheduling (computing). For process management, see process management (computing).

Input/output (I/O) scheduling is the method that computer operating systems use to decide which order block I/O operations will be submitted to storage volumes. I/O Scheduling is sometimes called 'disk scheduling'.

I/O schedulers can have many purposes depending on the goal of the I/O scheduler. Some common ones are:

To minimize time wasted by hard disk seeks. To prioritize a certain processes' I/O requests. To give a share of the disk bandwidth to each running process. To guarantee that certain requests will be issued before a particular deadline.

As soon as I figure out how to do that, too, I will :) But unfortunately no, I haven't changed the default I/O scheduler - yet. However, you are correct that noop is better for SSS.

To reference both giantpune and my own experience with computers, noop is best for Android's solid-state storage. Basically, our android phones are a flashdrive with an operating system (which is nearly identical to making a flashdrive a live linux system, since Android is a version of linux). Disk scheduling, or I/O scheduling, is really only relevant to actual HDDs, actual hard disk drives. Because Android phones, USB sticks, and Solid-State Drives (SSDs) are all using flash memory - ie: no physical read/write arm and head over pancake-stacked physical platters, instead using flash memory (NAND-based, at least for SSDs) which has no moving parts whatsoever - there is actual no need for I/O scheduling at all.

TL;DR: Android cellphones utilize flash-memory, meaning no moving parts for data storage. Ergo; No physical disks to schedule, means no need for scheduling. But if you have to choose, noop is better for Android phones (though it doesn't really do much for them anyways).

for some reason on 2.4.0 I can't get it to stick on noop after reboots. Might just be cause I am using pimp my rom to change it but it worked fine on the previous build.

Ah, high-speed (and cheap!) internet. Finally.

Welp, v2.4.0 is back up, revised and should be problem-free. Settings.xml has been reverted to stock, and therefore unchanged (which I mentioned before is what I thought is the root of the problems). The changelog is accurate to v2.4.0. Enjoy, and as usual report if anything's wrong :)

And now I'm off to play some Fallout 3.

so even with a new replacement phone it would still reboot on stock rom. I think this happens, not all the time, when I use the smart voice recorder or camera app that touches the sd card. Not sure what is going on.

. . . ?

So you're getting reboots whenever your smart voice recorder or camera app writes any data to the internal sd card?

How's the new place?

It's the perfect size, and everything's included aside from electricity, they even have two pools, and it's for a great price :) We're both very happy with it, thanks for asking :)

What good games can we get on the Elite now that it's Rooted?

The same as the ones you could get before. Rooting just makes you the Administrator of the device, like the Administrator for a PC - full control over the device. Games should never have to gain root access in order to play at all, or properly, and if they do I highly suggest getting a different game - and fast. However, with the improvements made to the phone in places such as the kernel, scripts, etc., the games you already have should play better than before :)

While Artine is correct that games shouldn't require root to run, rooting your device can open up possibilities for playing games that would otherwise be unplayable on this phone. Overclocking is the most obvious benefit, as is making modifications to get larger games to run off the SD card, or spoofing certain apps onto thinking you're running a phone that is compatible with the game you want.

I'd say you'll have better luck picking a game you want to play on the elite, and then figuring out what needs to be done to make that happen. Personally, I think the screen is too small to play any serious games on it. For me, phone games are just for killing time, not as an activity in itself, and in that regard simple-yet-enjoyable games are where it's at.
