Root [ROM] Sleipnir v2.4.0.5 - 10/24/13 - VM & SPRINT

Just updated with the ROM but I am still having the same issue I have been having since the last update. For some reason the phone goes into airplane mode at random. Other than that I have no issues other than the crappy data issues that come with the phone. Great job by the way, I've been using this ROM since before Christmas and its come a long way. Don't really see myself using another one unless they somehow get jellybean on the elite (which seems like it might be a while)

I love this ROM! It is so cute! But sometimes the boot animation pops when I awaken my phone. It stays like this for two minutes. Then it appears as if it was just turned on. Dose any one else have this problem?

That's the problem I was having on the old v2.4.0. I haven't encountered that yet myself, so it'd be hard to say what causes it. Try the normal method of solving these types of things though: reboot into CWM, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and reboot normally to see if that helps fix anything,

Those are random reboots, which is bad/a sign of instability. The build has only been up for a day, but since you're the first person to report it try reinstalling the ROM: reboot into CWM, wipe the /cache and dalvik cache, and wipe /data and /system as well. Then re-flash the ROM. Then reboot back into CWM, and do an advanced restore of /data (only /data), then reboot the phone normally and see if you get any random reboots like that. :)

Love this Rom however I've tried 3 times to install 2.4.0 & 2.3.9 both still continue with the random reboots,...I have followed the Instructions to the letter as per re-installing/Flashing the Rom/ re-installing Data & still it keeps re-booting ..(I think maybe it's the device itself because the only rom that's stabile is the "Elephant" ..I get no issues with that particular Rom!!..Anyway I just wanted to report the Issue & Thanks for everyone's Hard work!!

Look at my post. I have random reboot even on stock, though rarely, and I even change the phone, but no one seem to have it or something. One of the earlier versions of this room made it reboot even more. But it got better, I think. This phone is sensitive or there is something weird going on with the stock ROM already and making it smoother and faster doesn't solve the reboot issue. But whatever, this room is still better than stock ROM so thanks Artine for his time.

I am having trouble with Google play store since update to 2.4.0. Says "authentication required...login to your Google account", which I seem to be logged into, if by Google account they mean gmail.?

Although, on the issue of random reboots which I had mentioned a couple of times since 2.3.8, it seems that my phone won't overclock past 1.4Ghz without excessive battery drain and random reboots. Problem solved.

I re-installed 2.4.0 & restored my data from when I backed up 2.3.8, now I have no more random re-boots,..Smooth sailing,..Thanks everyone for all your help & hard work :-)

Is anyone else having the camera app force close after choosing panorama mode or face-tracking mode?

I can't figure out why it's doing this.

... no? Because that's in the ICS and JellyBean cameras, not Gingerbread (and therefore not included in the ROM)?

Strangely enough, that is the same camera app that came on the Sprint Sleipnir ROM after a fresh flash. It has those options in the camera choices strangely enough. Wierd....I flashed to the Hydra ROM recently, too, and the camera apk in that ROM also has those options.

Well, it's been 8 days since the build was put up, and the thread has been mostly quiet for a few days.... am I to assume that everything is fine and dandy? :p

Also, those of you that were having issues, did they get fixed? Did you try manually rebooting and wiping both the cache and dalvik cache?

I'm guessing one of two things are going on then: 1, you have a different camera app installed. The installation doesn't wipe your data, so you're going to have the stock camera with whatever camera app you have installed, or 2, that's a feature of the stock camera that I didn't know existed and cannot find even now. Both are equally possible - but as far as I know, that's not possible with the stock camera, and the stock camera is what both Hydra and Sleipnir have.

I just have a reboot here and there and still Wi-Fi doesn't work Ayer I reinstall my apps that's it on my end also the battery life doesn't seem to last as long as it did on the 2.3.9 version

I always wipe data and cache before flashing any new rom and that's what I also did with Sleipnir and Hydra. I went into Titanium Backup to re-install the stock camera from a previous backup where the camera app did not possess those options and even then, I still get the options for face-tracking and panorama mode (albeit the camera force closes immediately upon choosing those options). I think your idea of number 2 sounds reasonable at this point.

I love this rom, but I keep getting google play store issues. I got error 492. When I fixed that, it kept saying server error though

Try clearing cache and data from the play store through System Settings -> Manage Applications -> Google Play Store, and see if that fixes it.

As has been mentioned before by others - restore data using the advanced restore method from recovery, not with Titanium Backup, or there may be problems. I seem to actually be getting better battery life, myself, and wifi works fine every time I use it. Those problems may be due to restoring via TiB.

I have a question about a possible bug. I use GPS daily as I have a courier type job that I need Google Navigation for. On the stock rom, I could leave GPS on all day and direct Google Maps to multiple locations without having to do anything. With Sleipnir it seems that I have to manually switch GPS off, then back on before going to another location, otherwise GPS signal stops responding. Have you heard this yet? Any ideas on a fix?

Other than that small detail, love this rom, great work Artine :)

I haven't heard it nor encountered it myself, since I use GPS frequently myself :/ I second Optimus' idea; are you using JuiceDefender, and if so, is it controlling GPS?
