I notice that Virgin Mobile text displays on top right corner on home screen, is there is a way to permanently remove that

Thanks

On the lock screen? In build.prop find this line:

ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Virgin Mobile

Delete "Virgin Mobile" or replace it with something else if you want. The lock screen and I think the dropdown menu will say whatever you put there.

build.prop is in /system

It worked :)

thanks for the reply, i have already done that though. This problem still persists.

Something is trying to preserve the default settings for some reason. Are you sure there isn't an app trying to do this of some sort? If so, I would suggest wiping /cache and the dalvik-cache, re-flashing, and then fixing permissions. As always, verify the MD5Sum before flashing (for those who prefer SHA1 checksums, I will be providing those in the future as well if I don't forget to).

It worked for the lock screen but not the drop down menu,...."Thanks" thats pretty cool :-)

They should be handled by the same build.prop line, at least this is the case pre-flash.

Some small teasers (there's other stuff in progress, this is just some of it): (Long-press below here.)

In these teasers, I've made the cyan much clearer and fixed the dialog pop-up box border's glow, among a couple of other things like the notification bar no longer being motherboard-like. There's other changes that have been made as well that aren't visible in these screenshots too. Sorry there isn't a screenshot of the new battery charging animation - I can't seem to find it in DropBox at the moment and my girlfriend is using my phone to call her mother for Mother's day because she lost service temporarily on her OE. Anyway, what does everyone think so far? Definitely still a work in progress, but opinions and suggestions are welcome as always :)

My biggest consideration right now, spawned by pilot03's suggestion to me about having the cyan be white or silver like stock - because Sleipnir is how stock should have been - is that I will switch the cyan to white or silver, but update Hashtag's theme chooser with both color schemes (and with Starkraving's theme for Sleipnir if he's okay with it). Does everyone think that's a solid idea?

Tough choice, I like em both!!!

Once the dev releases his update ill update my themes to support his rom. I'm a big fan of stock and a uniformed look so I'll submit them to Artine and if he likes them he can add them to the community theme project. :)

Both of those issues are unique. If wiping the dalvik-cache and /cache in CWM doesn't fix things, I would try reflashing Sleipnir, making sure to verify the MD5Sum.

As per your suggestion, I wiped /cache and dalvik cache, no joy. I reflashed the ROM from the one I already had downloaded, no joy. I redownloaded the ROM and verified the MD5, no joy.

This problem still persists.

Rebooting the phone resets my notification sound to silent. Mounting/unmounting the phone on my computer either resets the notification sound to silent or to a different sound file all together.

Sadly most market/non system apps for the GB api will have black text intended for a white background in notifications etc. If he does the xmls for incoming/current call, download provider, and the framework that'll take care of all system notifications. There's just too many market apps to change the status xmls lol.

Are the sounds your setting located on your internal or external sdcard? I get them to stick better when I actually put them in /system/media/audio/ then the corresponding folder i want it to be either a notification sound or ringtone. :)

Did you try fixing permissions?

I like the darker notification, it's easier to see the text

I have an app or 2 that has black text that makes it really hard to see.... but still like the dark notification background best myself as well.

I like the darker background too. The light gray was the tap/long-press version, switched to from Cyan that almost wiped out the text :p

EDIT: There's now a new Sleipnir logo. :) Old one was getting boring, at least I though so :p

I like the dark background but as a themer and to expedite various themes without lots of framework changes id recommend leaving the text a white or light gray versus blue. Its a bit hard on the eyes in low light or direct light. Just my opinion though. Definitely voting for dark though.

That's another reason why I also wanted to switch to white, but preserve the cyan :)

i did, yes.

I followed the update steps to the letter from the first post in the thread. I'm currently running through the first time installation steps instead to see if that makes a difference. I'll update once finished.

Also of note, when waking up the phone after the screen goes off, to respond to a text or otherwise, the lower half of the screen doesn't respond to touches or has very, very long delays in reaction. 10s or more. I'm not sure what's causing this, but I thought i would mention it. turning the screen off and back on usually fixes the issue though.

All good to know, but if everything is being followed verbatim, and the first-time steps don't fix the issue, then my guess is that one of the following two things is going on:

1. The problems are device-specific. While it may not help, Uber Factory Resetting might solve the problems.
2. The /data partition became corrupted in some fashion. Factory reset or wiping /data should fix that. If not, an Uber Factory Reset might help.

And I'm terribly sorry that all of this stuff is going on with your device, man.

It's ALIVE! Success! First time seriously-editing actual code. Worked out perfectly :D Also, I found the battery charging icon (the status bar icon switches to and fro between the percentage and the charging icon, for each battery level) screenshot, so here's both updates/teasers:

screenshot-1368598244930.png

The new icon opens the System Settings main menu for now. Also, thanks to Starkraving for his links to the useful guides, I'm starting to get knee-deep in this stuff :)

Oh! And there's now a Sleipnir logo. It might change slightly in the near future, but it beats the old one out in my opinion.

EDIT: Whoops! Sorry about the double-post.
