Root [rom] teamchickeneater 2.2.1

Just installed the rom. Works great. Love it. The only thing i found, and its only a small problem, is that the alarm clock widget has been removed. Its not too much a big deal since i can still use the alarm if i go to the clock application. Great work guys. Probably donate a little next paycheck.

I finally got 2.2.1 rooted. and I will attempt this rom this evening, I have learned ALOT about Android as a result of this. I will keep you posted on status of this custom build.:)

The mistake I made was not having the adb root located in the right directory, coupled with the wrong location for MS690.dll registration, after that, it was smooth as glass. Thanks for the good work, I'm open for testing of new roms if you have anything more.

Erik:)

I don't know I'm waiting on you to make them or donate to me or richiedaize or someone else to make them

 Okay I feel really stupid and I've read all of these threads and tried the updater tool and everything and tried going through the process over and over but nothing is working. I just donated some money to you (Ashli Morgan- ashli.anne.tx@gmail.com) and I will donate more to you or anyone who helps me fix it. I really need to be on the phone with someone. I would really appreciate any response or help...thanks:o

Thank you,
Ashli

got around to flashing this rom after i ruined the functionality of my stock one xD! like the fact that there isn't that annoying metroPOS logo anymore, the boot animation starts off pretty laggy at first though, like how you guys really trimmed this one down too, had alot of free internal memory after install :D!!

I found this ROM:
  • smoother
  • more stable
  • just glowed better, somehow

However, I use ROM Zero Final because I can overclock the CPU. I'd rather have the boost in speed than the other enhancements. If you get a CPU that has little overhead for clocking, I would go with ChickenEater. If you want to overlock, consider Rom Zero.

If Chicken Eater has a good overlock kernel -- and I think they are working on one now -- I will switch to Chicken Eater for a test run.

Is this rom any better than the RomZeroFinal? If so what makes it better?

I thought ROM Zero was for 2.2 only? or is Chicken Eater usable on 2.2 and 2.2.1?

Have you tried flashing the custom kernel with this rom? The rom isn't what lets you oc it's a moded kernel, RomZero just has it built in.

any phone that came with 2.2 is capable of running any rom, either 2.2 or 2.2.1.
Remember when they make these roms they always make them to run on all hardware, they can not make previous versions to run on new hardware though.
In the case of our phones they made a hardware change to keep people from running older 2.2 so it would not be easily rooted.

And he has made a romzero that is able to run on 2.2.1
It just does not have the ability to overclock built into it.

I tried and it won't work, but that is what the ROM makers told me before I tried it anyway. It's not that I didn't believe them, it's just that software does not always work consistently from hardware set to hardware set, so I thought maybe I would get lucky. But, no dice.

That sucks.

Well I use setcpu, but not to overclock. I just set the max to 600 and the min to about half. So with that being said, would you suggest that I use this rom rather than RomZero?

Planning on getting my custom recovery and all backed up then taking a shot at a more streamlined custom rom thanks chickeneater...will post feedback

love this rom, finally the stupid people at MetroPCS cant do shit and ask me to pay $30 for a replacement cuz my phone was bricked, hahah this really saves me time and money and it pays off, thanks

I've successfully added a2sd ext3 support along with some memory tweaks, bash support, /ect/init.d support, and nano to the stock rom. Are you guys interested in adding these to your custom rom?

is there a tutorial anywhere on this? Im running stock 2.2.1 on my phone rooted, bloat removed and oced kernel.. just need apps2sd to complete this lol.. any help is appreciated

It's official. I've given up on Sense and CM7 and am now 100% all about chicken. LOL. I have ADW and I've tweaked it the best I could. I'm running the OC Kernel, and I'm VERY happy. NOW my GPS and BT works... and my battery rocks!

FINALLY!

Now I just have to get better 1x speeds! LOL.

This weekend (i think I hope) I'll get with reppard (if he wants) and we'll put something together for 2.2.1. I'm not a kernel guy. Two good things have come out lately that you may or may not know about. 2.2.2 for LG optimus v and 2.3.3 for the LG optimus p500. I'll bbe back online in a couple hours if anyone has any questions or anything.

I take it that 2.3.3 is an import from one of the EU countries that got it already?
