Root [ROM] The Second Wave... | Droid Incredible

I will echo the sentiment of too many roms. All of them pretty similar from what I'm reading. It would be great to have a prominent rom where the most stuff works, the least bugs exist, and has no crapware but is highly modular with all the patcher links in it. I can't imagine anyone would insist on any inferior versions.

While having the number of roms that are available can be somewhat overwhelming (especially trying to keep up with all the updates), I think it is a good thing. Everyone has their own opinion as to what they want/need in a rom and the variety gives them a better chance of finding one that fits.

OK So I am going to take the plunge and flash to this ROM. I have a couple questions though.

- If I overwrite the radio file as outlined [ROM]*07/27 Leaked OTA* Stock 2.2 with Sense [SOME BUGS!!] - xda-developers
Can I get get back to the original if need be for any reason?

- And would I simply follow the link above, just replacing the ROM with adrynalyne's ?

- I'm currently rooted, will unrevoked3 allow me to re-root after I flash? I have to have usb tethering.

Hopefully I get yeses here and can start the process :p

*So, my understanding is the radio needs to be the 2.0*** one..there is a rollback process to the older radio posted here

*Put the ROM on your SD Card
Enter Clockwork Mod from Recovery Mode
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Choose install zip from SD
Choose SD from Zip
Choose the ROM
Reboot

*Re-Root after the radio flash

Hope this helps, anyone else feel free to add anything I may have missed...I am still newer to doing this

^^^^^^^ This one.

Android is open source and involves a community of developers who choose to provide these wonderful goodies to us for free or minimal donations. The best thing about all the choices is that they are choices for us as users to make. Its overwhelming, but my thought process is that we need to better organize the forums to find information related to each particular ROM. Variety is king.

I dunno, I cant replicate it. It was fun while it lasted, but has not happened again. It must have been just an anomaly...would be nice though.

On another note...I still am getting the FC's on the MSG and VVM. Also there is a widget which I have never seen before called 80.0dip which force closes and causes a RosieUtility error.

On the MSG and VVM, I am guessing I need to restart with a clean version of your ROM, delete the built in ones and then add the ones you provided?? It might be because I didnt delete them first causing an error. Should I go back to an older version of another ROM, and wipe data, and then reload yours? I absolutely love this ROM otherwise - it motors through everything (FYI 1287 Quadrant today)

Are you reloading system stuff with titanium? That 80.0dip is leftovers of a widget that doesn't work, but should not exist in the list unless a wipe wasn't done. Assuming a wipe was, I have to wonder if Ti is involved.

While I would love to have more control over these threads, its apparent the forum is not setup for this kind of activity. As such, I have to report my own threads just for a title change or update, and the results are not immediate.

Also, as a general rule, I put patches for roms in the same thread that they were designed to work on.

Without having any organization for devs on this forum, it does come off as a freakish mess, but the reality of it is, each thread I have is very different. One is for vanilla--Sense related stuff would not apply. One is for Sense, vanilla stuff would not apply.
Two others are older code, and not compatible with the newer code patches.
Lastly, another is an experiment of porting the best of the Evo with the best of the Dinc and making a superior frankenrom.

What would be an ideal solution for those who are complaining? As it is now, I have no control over thread modifications to even put an update date in the title without begging the mods.

I work with what I have.

I think you are doing the right thing by separating your threads. I mean really there are only like 6 current rom threads going right now and four of them are yours. I don't see why its so hard to keep up with them although I suppose If you are new to the forum it may take a few hours to soak it all in.

I do find it strange that they would lock down the title like that.
I mean really whats the point?

sooooo back on topic.

been running this rom all day and it is nice and stable. hulu works pretty good as well.
It definitely is better then the original version.

I have a similar question- I forgot to wipe before install. Is it safe to just do the system wipe from clockworkmod and then reflash the 8_1_leak_enhanced.zip (as opposed to downgrading radio, flashing ota again, wiping system data, then flash froyo)? There's no radio flash in the froyo rom, so I'm assuming I shouldn't have to go the long route, just want to make sure.

FYI just installed this ROM. The kernel that it comes with doesn't support CONFIG_NETFILTER/CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES and/or RNDIS which is needed for wired tether. Kind of a bummer :/

you ca use 3g hotspot and get it to work without verizon knowing by following the steps in another thread

No, and I did a wipe before install. I am willing to start over....just want to make sure I do it right. Should I flip back to an old nandroid before reinstall?

Question, so I upgrade the radio file to install this rom, how do I downgrade it to get back to the original one? Is this even a concern?

Loving this rom more and more. I can't seem to get the hulu app to work. Do I need to dl something else? It just tells me that it is not compatible with this version of flash. Also what its the app called thay tests how fast this rom runs as compared to other os and devices.

been running this for a whole 24 hours. seems good so far. no force closes and it's definitely fast. thanks!

the only issue i have is with the AAc+ songs that i have on my internal storage. they sound like poop.

tried that, no go still same force close on mms and vvm

I flipped back to orig clockwork nandroid backup, wiped data, reinstalled rom and am golden. am going to cancel my VVM and use Google Voice and the messaging app he included. Worked fine with everything and running great

thanks for the offer, i actually always had it but never really knew how to set it up... is there anything special we need to do to set it up as vvm? i went to the google voice site and activated and setup my voicemail greeting etc. not sure what to do otherwise.

edit: nevermind got it to work... its actually pretty good! even puts whats on the vm in text!

Shouldn't matter either way. Might want to take the extra step and go under partitions menu in clockwork and wipe boot, system, and data before reflashing.
