[ROM][UNOFFICAL]LineageOS 13 6/11/2017

had to chime in here. if you guys are doing a clean fresh install of this new rom and trying to test it your doing it wrong imo. u should use twrp to wipe everything except external 3 times in a row to do a complete deep wipe then DO not install any apps then test it for a few days without your apps first, just the rom basic. how else can u test without inducing unknowns into the test?

wipe internal to get everything clean and after 3rd time you have to reset twrp time zone settings which means you got everything after 3rd time
notice 3rd time takes alot less time then 1st wipe

now u can actually test the rom without inducing unknowns

thats how scientists roll man :)

I'd love to be able to do that with my phone to test things... unfortunately, I cannot. This is my only phone I have and I use it as my daily. I require some apps/email on there to do my everyday job, so simply flashing the ROM and testing for a few days isn't something I can do with this phone currently.

Thank you for the advice, and I will keep it in mind as I'm building/testing my own stuff. I actually did this again recently while testing encryption, but just can't do every time I flash a new version for several days at a time. Its just not feasible for me.

A wipe performs a format of the partition. Imho wiping several times is nothing but a placebo.
I was going to say, I was under the assumption that a "wipe" is just a call to
Code:
mkfs.<whatever>
which really doesn't do anything special if run more than once. I do understand not installing other apps to help debugging issues, but at the same time, not all issues present themselves while in the "ideal environment" either. I can't tell you how many times I've heard fellow developers claim "well, it works fine on my machine" after something is deployed to production :) Anyway, I will keep all this in mind as I'm testing and building... not that I've had much time for that over the past couple of days anyway, but soon.

Well, my dev days may be numbered on this phone. Ringplus looks to be on the verge of shutting down and I got my phone on there before the FED check. It's of Sprint Prepaid origin and I don't much feel like going to Sprint Prepaid, so I'll have to hock it. But maybe I can see about giving Lineage ownership before I go.

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread but I have LineageOS 14.1 built and running, YES 14.1! I can't test Cellular because my phone wasn't properly unlocked when I left Boost Mobile so I wasn't able to activate it on something else like FreedomPop. I didn't test much but I was able to connect to WIFI and format a SD card as adopted storage. This build has SU root built in.

I forked a few of @spock1104's repositories and created a 14.1 branch. You can take a look at my edits at my Github. I used
openjdk-8-jdk during build.

This is the manifest I used, https://github.com/ShapeShifter499/LG_Volt-LineageOS_Manifest/tree/cm-14.1

Device tree, https://github.com/ShapeShifter499/android_device_lge_x5/tree/cm-14.1

msm8226-common tree, https://github.com/ShapeShifter499/android_device_lge_msm8226-common/tree/cm-14.1

Kernel, https://github.com/ShapeShifter499/android_kernel_lge_msm8226/tree/cm-14.1

Please test and let us know of all issues. Post logs of any issue when possible, logcat and dmesg.

Install this at your own risk, it works for me but there might be a unforeseen issue I did not experience.

Maybe FreedomPop would work?

So I downloaded 7.0 gapps & I'm gonna try flashing! Wish me luck!

With me it won't start either. I get to the setup but can't get past there because play services stops. I'm using arm 7.1 Gapps from opengapps

I didn't try booting with any GApps installed. I plan on taking the framework patch from MicroG and use the MicroG services. The above build does not have the patch though.

Gapps is a deal breaker for me so I switched back to lineage os 13 but it looked great (I got it working by wiping and installing without gapps)

@spock1104 I just cancelled my ringplus plan and activated my phone on freedompop for free. You need to remember to cancel the freedompop trial so you won't get charged anything.

Eh I already have a fredompop phone collecting dust (woe upon my ZTE Force). I don't like having VOIP only and the data allotment isn't quite enough. Found another alternative though, waiting for it to port.
