[ROM][UNOFFICAL]LineageOS 13 6/11/2017

It will since it overwrites the system partition, you will need to redo any changes to the system partition, meaning in the xposed app (if you updated it to 3.1) you just press install or something, and you will need to redo the build.prop things.
It fixes NFC, the gravity, acceleration, and compass sensors, the GPS is updated, and it is a much newer ROM (it has much more features and the newer security patches).
Biggest changes are that the compass works, and that the rotation sensor should no longer quit after a few days.

Rotation never quit working for me (from 8/19 till 1/16 or something like that, when I switched to this). I see way more features that weren't in 8/19 (like live display).

I just flashed this, the only thing I had to do after was reinstall xposed and viper4android, also copy and pasted my old build.prop tweaks

do I still need to install busybox for this ROM like in Cm13 ?
Both CM and Lineage replace Busybox with Toybox. For most usage this should be identical. Probably the only time this won't work is if you have an old app specifically looking for Busybox

I've been distracted for a bit and just decided to come check on progress the other day. I am wholeheartedly impressed! The latest build is simply amazing. I've only been on it for a couple days now, but I love it. I was on the 11/05 build and tried to upgrade to this... it didn't go so well. I can't recall now what exactly went bunk, but I just decided to wipe it and do a clean install, which worked out great. Seriously, great work on this ROM. You have kept me sane for the better part of two years on this phone with your work on this ROM. THANK YOU!

The only thing I had go wrong was my wifi stopped seeing any access points earlier today. I wasn't where I could grab any logs and just needed wifi, so I quickly rebooted and it worked fine. If it happens again, I'll grab as many logs as I can and post them here. Otherwise, everything is running smoothly and quickly. I'm still using the old TWRP 2.8.7 recovery because of issues I have with 3 (I'll post them in the appropriate thread) which seems to work with F2FS just fine.

Also, I just wanted to say thank you for posting all the build/dev instructions. I run linux natively on my laptop, so I'll try to get a build environment up and going this weekend and start tinkering. I'd love to help contribute where I can since you've definitely contributed to my sanity :) Thank you again for all your hard work on this phone!

UPDATE: I do remember what broke on upgrade. I completely lost root and my radio went absolutely haywire, refusing to stay connected after every reboot until I switched it to 3g and back to LTE. I had to revert back to stock to make the radio work again correctly before the clean flash. No problems with the radio since.

Okay, I'm noticing something going on with wifi for sure. Yesterday while I was out and about, I enabled my wifi hotspot. It worked great for a bit (20-30 minutes?) however, after leaving it on the phone just rebooted on me. Turned the hotspot back on again after it booted up and it rebooted again shortly after. Since I was out, I was unable to grab logs of any kind and I'm a bit busy today so I won't be able to grab anything definite until tomorrow most likely. I work from home tomorrow, so I'll just turn the hotspot on while I work and grab some logs once it reboots itself.

I have one question about this ROM, do you know if the full encryption will actually work or even what state it's in? I've tried it with previous builds (don't recall which) and haven't had success, so I thought I'd ask. I know it was working at some point, but I don't remember if it was cm12 or cm13 on this phone. This is something I would really like to have, so if its not something that has been looked at much, I'd be more than happy to start there once I get a build environment setup this weekend. Either way, I'm going to give it a shot this weekend and see what the result is. I just have no idea what logs to check if it fails, or how to check them, because usually when it fails it kills the phone to the point of requiring a full wipe. Guess I could pull them in recovery if I just knew which ones. Thanks!

Same happened to me a few months ago (I also was out and didn't have time to grab logs)

Okay, it stopped seeing wifi access points again while I'm at work. It was connected to wifi when I left my house this morning and I don't connect to wifi while I'm here... so I went ahead and grabbed a logcat while I could. I started the logcat, then went on my phone into wifi and turned it off, left it off for several seconds and then turned it back on. I still see no access points, so I let it run for a minute or so before terminating the logcat. I just did a simple terminal buffer dump, so if there's anything missing or you need more info, let me know. I've also attached a dmesg that I pulled off the phone after running logcat, just in case.

I've had similar issues with the radio on both of "my" phones, except it loses 3G instead and will receive sms but will refuse to send sms. In the past I've had to fix it by going to stock and back, but I was able to fix it recently with just a clean reinstall of the ROM. It seems like a state machine issue and/or a problem with a band that has been included but shouldn't be, but I have no idea of how to triage it.

I haven't tried encrypting and haven't heard feedback on it. Can't wait to get you on the dev team ;) I'll try to remember to idle on ##LG_Volt

I need a few brave souls to try this next build for a few days before I put it in the OP. I switched from the custom Radio Interface Layer (RIL) to the one that Lineage provides. I hope that this solves the radio flaking out on us. My wife's phone crapped out again, but putting this on there seems to have brought it back. I'm cautiously hopeful.

I don't know if this is a hardware issue, but on the 1-16-17 build swiping to clear apps/notifications seems to not respond at the first swipe, it sometimes takes 2-4 swipes to clear them. I didn't have the issue on the last CM13 build however. Also I don't know if getting a log of it is possible so I haven't tried

This is my backup phone now so I will try out, but I won't actually use it during the day.

I flashed it last night before falling asleep last night.. seems good so far, and I already made a trip off wifi to the gas station :) For whatever reason, the file manager I use (Fx) lost root, but after I cleared the data on the app, all is well. I'll run this over the weekend, and I'm going to test out the wifi hotspot today while I have some free time to grab logs while doing so. Thanks!

Hey Spock1104 just wanted to let you know I tried again last night to use your newest ROM but for some reason it'll work mint for the first night than Sam I get this sim error & no matter what I do it keeps popin back up! So I flash back to the backup I had from one of the August builds. That works fine, but still don't know why. Any suggestion's.,? And I just downloaded your newest build, gonna flash it momentarily!

Okay, I haven't done testing with the hotspot yet. I noticed some other wifi weirdness over the past couple of days, but today it seems worse. For some reason, it's almost as if my phone is turning off wifi when it goes into a deep sleep. I ran for a bit with logcat running, let the phone naturally sleep, and grabbed dmesg about the same time. I never really saw wifi crap out during this time... but I've went ahead and attached the logs anyway. I also attached a screenshot to show my wifi is set to be always on. I'll leave my phone attached to the computer and if I notice wifi crapping out again, I'll grab logs once more. This is on the 0127 build, but I've noticed the issues with wifi prior to flashing this build anyway.

UPDATE: Attached the wrong dmesg file earlier... updated. I did see this in the file though... not sure if it really pertains to anything... but seeing as how wifi seems to die during deep sleep, I found it interesting.

Okay, wifi disconnected for me again... after I unplugged it from the computer, HA! Anyway... I was still able to get back to it quickly enough to see something in the logcat. If you search for "--------- beginning of main" in the file (attached), you'll see its starting to have issues there. I did a little searching based off what I see there, and found this... it really seems to be related to the issue I'm seeing, but I have no idea beyond that.

This seems to be the issue I'm seeing: https://github.com/ngoquang2708/android_device_samsung_vivalto3gvn/issues/48
The fix they applied is here: https://github.com/remilia15/androi...mmit/833764435eb1d45a1823d5734f133f1a22736264

Nice find! Also looks like our big brother the G2 had the same issue. https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...fficial-cyanogenmod-13-lg-g2-t3264508/page346

Ill post back in an hour or two with a new build...

I'm hoping this takes care of the wifi problems

Well, after flashing wifi doesn't disconnect per-say... but it stops working to where I have no connection to the network at all, even though it shows I'm connected. I poked around through logs and didn't see anything obvious... hoping they help. I'm going to do a clean wipe and reinstall just to make sure something else isn't mucking it up.

okay, went back and wiped my system and both cache partitions then reflashed the 0128 build again. It seems solid so far. wifi has stayed connected as far as I can tell all night. I went off wifi last night (ran to the store) for about an hour and everything was fine. I'm not sure why wifi went haywire off an update at first, but a full wipe of at least the system partition took care of it. I never wiped data though. Anyway, good work on the new build :) I'll post back if I encounter any issues. also going to try to setup my build environment today and maybe play around with some encryption a bit later.

Okay, I haven't been giving the new build much attention... but when I have used it, its been the most solid build yet. Wifi seems good, haven't tried a hotspot yet though. Everything else is running smooth it looks like.

On the other hand, I have been playing around with getting encryption working correctly. I haven't gotten very far yet. At first it was missing keymanager.mdt files, which I managed to get included in the ROM... though I'm not sure if its even the right way. I've attached simple patch files, if it looks "fine" to you, I can submit actual pull requests via github once encryption starts working. Anyway, it looks like it will encrypt the volume, then when it reboots it will ask for the password... however, once it takes the password, it doesn't seem to really do anything else. I've attached a logcat I was able to pull. It includes encryption, the reboot after, and my attempt to unlock the device. Once I enter the password (successfully) the logcat terminates after a bit and the phone shows "offline" under adb. I'm at a loss at this point.
