Ok so I ended up reflashing but this time doing a full install as opposed to the custom one I did initially. I don't know what about the custom upset super user, but once I did the full install everything worked the way it should. thanks for the helpful tips.

on another note, is there a setting within to tweak the dialer?? I thought I saw something about it somewhere but can't recall where, or if I n fact saw it at all?????
 
another weird thing for me is that I remember when I did that custom install my lock screen ring was black. since doing the full install I can't figure out how to get that back, as it has reverted back to the silver color
 
how is that OTA feature supposed to work??? will we automatically get notified when there's an update to the rom???
 
Yes. You should be notified that there is an ota available, and on this rom you can actually take it from my understanding.

So we're supposed to take the OTA's?

Even knowing it's supposedly coming from them it's going to hard to accept one of those for the first time in 4 years... lol
 
Anyone tried a Launcher with this such as Holo, Go, or SSLauncher? I'm just getting this installed this morning and will be able to play with it only for a few before I have to go to work. Busy day ahead.

I've been using both Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher because I'm a senseless kinda guy. Not a problem with either. Definitely give this ROM a shot, you won't regret it.

You can get the black lock ring by selecting the "Matte" skin under Settings -> Personalize -> Skins. This also gives you the dark-themed flip-clock.

Nova works great, but I find myself going back to the Sense launcher more and more with this ROM.

My understanding is that they are OTAs for the custom ROM. So basically if an HTC OTA gets released, they repackage the ROM with the new base and then push out their own OTA.
 
I wish they would push out an OTA with basically only a small version change so that people will experience it and know what to expect.

The phone should only be checking for OTA's from viper's servers. So anything regarding an OTA that you get should just be a ROM update/bug fix.
 
I imagine that they will. They've already committed to one bug fix in the XDA thread.

And they've said all along, this approach is for people who use their phone for work and can't be flashing roms all of the time. Much as I like MeanRom and Mike, that was a problem for me and why I avoided the merry go round this time.

I value stable update schedules and rom changes the install and tweak way over the best possible performance.

So, I expect faster updates than stock, but slower than MeanRom, for example.

And once I go for some sort of kernel update, I expect the top performance to be there.

And if not, there's always MeanRom and CleanRom, both excellent alternatives, yes?

And so far, this looks like my choice until AOKP or CM10 are fully stable.

By the way, bootup initialization on this totally rocks - cleans all leftover Market cruft from cache just by booting up. :)
 
Installed late last night. finished it this morning had a few minor issues I'm accepting as operator error because I boo booed. I just reflashed a few minutes ago and google play has stopped unexpectedly tried a few things but no avail so now doing it again.

been using holo and sslauncher lately havent tried out the nova or apex whats the difference in them? holo reminds me of go launcher which i used to love until they started putting push adds in everything. and it was getting old.
 
I just asked about the OTA thing - it's not there yet, so we may have to re-flash to get that feature going - when it's ready.

I'm not a launcher expert, I tried Apex and Nova and just liked the Nova features better - some say it's basically stock ICS with more features.
