Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

It's supposed to allow you to use apps which cant work with root which I've never done with superuser so I'm going to give it a try. Looking at the thread it seems to have worked out the bugs.
Let us know how it works for you. Be interesting to see if we can run DRM on BACKside. ;)

Looks interesting, but I can see inexperienced users totally nerfing their installations by using it wrong. I'm going to play with it a little, run it on a clean install and report back.

Oh, I have a question for Jerry. TDM's gingerkernel is being discussed as a possible fix for zv9 iho reboots. What's your opinion on this? Is there any disadvantage if I decide to use TDM's instead of bobz?

I tired SuperSU and it's pretty decent. Had to remove and reinstall it as it didn't want to setup correctly the first time. Kept getting installation failed when trying to update binary. Also a few of my apps apparently don't like it as they don't request root permission and I get permission denied. Once the bugs are ironed out I think about running it although I haven't had any issues out of superuser

Have you tried the most updated version?

Ok so I figured out the hide function, you uncheck enable super user, however I still can't get ultraviolet for flixster working. Somehow it still detects root.

I'm waiting for more info. ;)

Jerry, thanks for all the hard work building CM7.2 RC1 and Green Machine. I actually rooted my OV and installed your CM7. I'm still learning all the features. But it is fast, along with lots of internal memory thanks also to Link2SD. There are so many good things about it.

I also tried to flash the CWM-Green-Recovery and I got a message that said it was an invalid OV image. I was using Flash-GUI which I used successfully on my first recovery image. Just wanted to verify that the image is compatible with OV.

Thanks again for excellent work!

Dave

hey jerry! Can you make an option to turn off auto-correct for the keyboard?? PLEASE

In Settings > Language & Keyboard Settings > Android Keyboard there is a setting at the bottom called Quick Fixes that will fix common errors. Didn't try it but I'd see if that does it

Hi Jerry this part of your first post is confusing:

---Updating from a previous BACKside-IHO build

2
choices. One says for builds up till January 18th (the old method). The 2nd choice is for post April 17th build(s).

What method does one use for builds between January 18th and April 17th? I'm using the Feb 6th build.

Sorry, I'll fix the dates, thanks for catching that. ;)

Just remember, the BacksideUpdater is the fastest way to check. ;)

Next update won't be for a few days, I'm working out a few bugs that are a bit harder to squish than usual. ;)

hahaha this was pretty hilarious to read! thanks for encouraging me to procrastinate with the tons of info on here, I love reading up on what's goin on in the dev world and such :D Thanks to all! :D

I am on the newest build, currently having trouble with Wi-Fi. Whenever I first enable it, it spends about two to four minutes in limbo, unable to show a signal for ANY of the nearby hotspots. (My laptop picks up the signals just fine). It has been doing this at my home, also at my work, so I'm sure location is not the issue.

Any suggestions?

If your laptop gets a weak signal your phone might not get it. The antenna in it is allot better than your phone. Check your md5 sum of your download. If it's ok you want to do a full wipe and reflash it.
