Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Hi,
I'm using the ClockworkMod recovery and was thinking about changing to Jerry's suggestion. I've searched this thread to find out how to change recoveries but don't see anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I simply flash the new recovery?

Thank you!

If you already have backside, download the recovery here.
Put it on your sd card.

If you are running BACKside-IHO on your phone:
1--Open the BacksideUpdater
2--Press the menu key and select Install A Recovery
3- choose the file. Reboot and enjoy. =]

Basically, do it the same way you installed a recovery before. backside updater makes it easier though. Even easier the next time we get updates, rom updates will happen all for us without us doing a thing in recovery and such.

if i want to erase everything from my phone and install a fresh version on backside would i go to CWM do a factory reset then install backside, gapps and then the green theme??

Dalvik improvements... New recovery with auto updater... Constantly updating...

I'm always trying out other ROMs but I always come back...

:adore: <---me

*Edit*

Any way to get the recovery to be red? >.<

He said he was going to be making it customizable. Patience young grass hopper.

Got that new recovery, latest ROM, my favorite bout animation ;) now one last thing, are there any flashable boot logos? the stick lg one is so out of place with the rest of my set up. Please and thank you :)

Whenever you do a rom update, and see link 2 sd not working. Don't panic, your apps are still there. Only the apps that were moved as a system app will be gone.

(If you even chose to do that. For example I had go launcher moved as a system app instead of being linked as its a launcher. I also wanted the system to accept it as part of the system, mainly because I saw a performance increase compared to just leaving it on there as a standard app.)

I have always done the following:
open link 2 sd. Disable auto link for new installed apps, disable the link at boot option. Restart the rom several times. After 3 or 4 restarts of the rom, open link 2 sd back up. Recheck all your settings. Then restart again. If you are still getting mount errors or any other error, recreate mount scripts. If you get an error, try going through choosing different file systems
(ext, fat32) until you get the message that link 2 sd will create the mount script at boot and prompt you to restart. After doing the recreate mount scripts, do a quick reboot. It might take a very very long time. It took mine 10 minutes before It booted up. After it boots, let it sit some more at the home screen. Restart the entire phone again at least a couple more times. You should now be fine.

That's the entire process I did to make everything work again after the rom update.
I would also suggest after everything is working properly, to go into link 2 sd and clean up the 2nd partition as well as dalvic cache, clear all app caches, and last but not least link dalvik cache files. Then choose the refresh option and reboot. Should also gain some more space that way.

Thanks for such a detailed explanation! I'll try it. Perhaps I'm not patient enough to let the boot completely finish.

Please let me know how that process works for you.
Here is a tip, while its booting, make coffee or play 2 rounds of modern warfare 3. haha. Then when you check on it again it should be booted. Also I have noticed that sometimes link 2 sd takes longer to do a quick reboot because of custom boot animations. Try restoring that to the backside default. That might also reduce the time it takes.

Sure enough. It worked. I think changing the settings in link2sd may have done the trick. I've never tried those settings before.

I haven't tried MW3 yet. I'm currently playing through the Battlefield series .

Glad My noobish self could help ;)

I hope i was clear when I said to recheck those settings. Make sure after you disable them you re-enable them when everything works again. Haven't tried battlefield. I think both are fantastic games though.

Is it normal for this ROM to have significantly less battery life than Harmonia?
No, but slightly less, yes. ;)

You cannot determine your battery life till you have been running a ROM for at least 3 days. The day you install it, you eat a lot of battery with the install process, and with checking everything out to be sure it works. Then, it will take the battery stats a few days to average out.

You might want to go into recovery, wipe battery stats, then give it a three day trial to see how much juice you use.

Google betterbatterystats (one word) for possibly the best app for determining what is eating your battery. ;)

I get a full day (20-27hrs avg) on BACKside-IHO with moderate usage, and so do most other people.

Sometimes I can get up to 2 full days on my battery with moderate use (I have a bunch of stuff turned off which helps). I can't remember if I read it somewhere or if it's just me being picky, but I always have a full charge on my battery and it's always plugged in via USB while I flash the BACKside rom. Probably me just being picky. :p

I've always had above average battery life with BACKside which makes it one of the many reasons why I love the rom so much. I try hard to pay attention to any new apps I add that eat the battery.... tried the weather.com app recently and it completely ate my battery in less than 12 hours. I got rid of it and decided to keep Beautiful Widgets hehe.

I never have wiped my battery stats, is this something you need to do from time to time?

Some say you should do it every time you flash a ROM but I think after a few days it gets calibrated anyway, so I personally would probably only do it only if I started to see something unusual (i.e. only charging up to 95%)
