I've been using one from XDA on Quicksilver for a while now.

me too brotherswing, it's one of my favorites! :)

Been on my mind awhile now, but does anyone else have this issue.. I cannot overclock my CPU at ALL. I am running the 4/9/2012 build.. I've run all the previous builds for the last few months as well. This is a newer phone that came with 2.2.2. Anytime I set the CPU to overclock (at any speed, even 729Mhz), it will lock up and reboot sooner or later. Usually navigation will cause it to reboot 99.9% of the time. Is my phone just not made to overclock? Seems like so many of you overclock without any issues, although maybe you are not using any intensive programs either. I have tried ONDEMAND, SMARTASSV2 and a few other governors without any change in behavior.

On a side note, GPS works great on the phone and always has. Picks up the signal very quickly.

Every unit is different and some do have processors that don't overclock which is why they have them set to 600mhz rather than 7 or 8. Also make sure your not using an app to overclock and you're using the built in options.

I am using the built in (Cyangenmod) overclock capabilities. The phone is stock at 600Mhz.. so maybe it really cannot handle anything more. I've seen quite a few folks claim it runs above this.. but like I said, the Maps Navigator is one of many intensive programs that reboots the phone every time. It runs pretty well for the most part even at 600Mhz.. but it would be nice to bump it a bit more since I did only get this thing for $55 or so on black Friday :)

Mine is running at 806, my kids two that I bought on black Friday are running at 786. Never tried any higher on there's. So it's just the device.

I am so proud of myself, I learned how to do a custom boot animation and get it on my phone! check this out, I got it over at xda.
It's so syfi terminal awesomeness.
I keep rebooting my phone to watch it lol.

you got a link to that? because I like it :D

I can overclock my OV to the upper 700s no problem, but my sister-in-law can not go above 600 without her games crashing. Each phone's processor is different, so you take what you get. ;)

Credit is due to the person who made it here.
It was made for the desire hd though, so I had to tweak it to fit our optimus v screen.

So i uploaded the file so you do not have to go through the trouble.

Also to add to the discussion,

I have not been able to overclock at all. The settings do not stay after I back out and go back in. The governors do not seem to work for me. Oh well.

In case my post was missed:

I have the latest version and it still does happen. It is very strange. I noticed it seems to happen more often if I use the buttons to wake the screen instead of the power button. Then after unlocking the phone, it freezes and the battery needs removed.
While it still happens, it's no where near as often.

Changes: Synced with CM and cherry-picked some changes
-- Lots of behind the scenes code improvements in dalvik, should lead to smoother performance
-- -- BacksideUpdater huge update!!!
-- -- Added download progress indicator but it is still OK to exit and let it complete in the background
-- -- Added the ability to Automatically Install ROM Updates!!
-- -- -- Once you have downloaded the ROM package and BacksideUpdater verifies it, you can select Install ROM Now and your phone will reboot and wipe cache/dalvik-cache and install the ROM and reboot back to normal All Automatically! ;)

For the best results download and install CWM-Green-Recovery, a new recovery I built for just this purpose!

Note- Automatic install has been tested to work on CWM-Green, BobZhome, IHO, and Drew's-Touch recoveries. Automatic wipe dalvik-cache only works on CWM-Green-Recovery.

Thanks as always to Blarf, BobZhome, mrg666, tdm, LeslieAnn, gannon, tvall, Whyzor, bigsupersquid, kermikalelite, the CM team, the AOSP team, and a whole lot more! ;)

TBH I was getting extremely antsy without my BACKside update fix. This should keep me OK for a bit... Also does the CWM-Green Recovery work for the new screens?

I've had this happen once or twice over the months. I usually just wait a minute or so, then try to wake the phone again. It's most likely due to some background process struggling with the low processor speed when the screen is off.

Actually, I've seen that too. I agree about it being a background process, the symptoms certainly fit. Kind of like when I reboot the phone, ADW EX always tries to FC if I don't give it enough time for everything to load. I have a lot of apps on the sd card, so my boot times are kind of ridiculous.

I have been charging my phone and noticing it stops charging at 95%, which I think is really weird. I have to unplug-replug back in the charger and then it goes to 100%. I have tried diffrent outlets/chargers. Is it just more of that battery weirdness that andieopie said goes away after using the rom and rebooting after a while?

Just making sure nothings wrong with the battery counter or anything.
